I was really surprised to see that Prime 4 will include mouse controls. This sets a precedent that first/third person shooters and games will likely offer these controls as an option. This is similar to how Nintendo popularized gyro controls, and now most first/third person games on the Switch (and even some PS5) have optional gyro aiming.

I remain skeptical. My biggest concerns are how comfortable the joycon actually is when used as a mouse, and also if I’ll need to be on a perfectly flat surface, or if I can just use my leg as a mousepad or something. I generally play console games on a couch instead of a desk, so it’s really going to depend on how well it works for me.

But another interesting tidbit is that Nintendo seems to be combining the mouse tracking and the gyro movement/tilting to make controlling seamless and potentially more versatile. It’ll be really interesting to actually give it a try.

Do you think you’ll be using mouse controls?

I think it would be good for Civ.

I am terribly underwhelmed by the Switch 2 reveal. Civ is one of the better 3rd party titles available at launch and it would probably work well with Civ.

I’ll probably try it on Metroid butAs soon as hori comes out with a split pad pro I’ll be ditching the joycons completely like I did with switch 1.

there are some games where you just could REALLY fucking benefit from a mouse

what immediately comes to mind is games that you let decorate your house or build

totally fine playing Valheim on a controller, but when it comes to decorating your house I appreciate my mouse

I've actually made a habit out of playing games that require any sort of building on my PC when possible for this very reason

I was planning on getting an Xbox for playing online games with mouse and keyboard, I hope that with Switch 2 I won't need it anymore so yes, that will basically be the main use of give it, I'll probably just buy another dock to put it in my desktop tho

Any game with lots of interface, inventory management for need for precise aim I'll definitely use it on. I'd also like to see stealth/action games on it, because you can combine analog movement with mouse aiming.
