How are programs like autocad and solidworks runnning in windows 10?
Anyone else running into trouble with the taskbar not auto-hiding on your second screens?
Here's a screenshot of the issue.
My main monitor has no issue with auto-hiding it, but the other two, even with a YouTube video playing in the first one, won't hide.
Thinking of upgrading soon, so if I remember reading right from earlier in the thread, once you do the upgrade install you're able to reset (clean install) without needing a boot disk/usb? Just want to make sure I'm not gonna hose myself not having one.
Not so sure, but Windows 8.1 did ask for install media when I tried a reset before.Asking again for new page,
Asking again for new page,
Change the administrative language of the system to English(US) and delete the content within the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DownloadDownloaded the media tool and can't get past the screen after it asks you whether you want to upgrade or do a fresh install. i just get the double something happened screen. Microsoft should be lambasted for creating such a fucking awful piece of UI design on a flagship product in 2015.
What sound card do you have? My PC has pretty standard parts but I was wondering if my Soundblaster Z was possibly holding up my upgrade notification.
i asked before but no answer so far. anyone know why the system thing needs so much ram?
im on a microsoft surface pro 3
Probably grabbing drivers and things? Check the processes and see WHAT system level things are being ran?
Signed up for the Win 10 update yesterday. About how long does it take until my spot in the download queue is ready? I'm assuming it downloads in the background like a windows update, but that must take a while since it says it's 3 GB, and put on top of that my awful internet speeds.
I know I'm supposed to get a notification, but what exactly is ready for me at that moment. The install? Or am I simply ready to begin downloading Win 10?
Apparently they're "working with their partners to ensure that Windows 10 is ready for my particular PC." I'm guessing my laptop is part of a couple of machines that are still being worked on for Windows 10 compatibility? I have a Lenovo Y580 for anyone that might know.
Still getting error messages on shutdown sometimes for every installation.
Right now, Windows just ignores them, but it's troubling.
Nope..so how is edge for everyone? is it worth dropping chrome for it?
Seriously tho, the interface is freaking nice. Makes me appreciate the metro apps now that they can be windowed.

Nope..
it's fast but not much faster and no extension support yet...I'd wait

Yes. Not sure if it messes with any activations or anything though.Asking again for new page,
then its taking drivers for quite some time since i have it since i installed windows 10 lol^.
I know you're being sarcastic, but Windows does regrab drivers. It happened to me. I have no idea why it did that when the installer grabbed the drivers themselves, but given the buggy nature the installer had (where my GPU had issues until Windows redownloaded them and then I manually forced it to install it again) it's probably something to do with the upgrade.
Unless you clean installed in which case... uh... probably still the same thing, given the nature this launch has been IMO.
This is what I suspected, but they should not be sending out emails telling people what to do when it doesn't work. It's because you're not included in the current wave of upgrades. You either have to wait or edit your registry. Microsoft's error message is particularly unhelpful in problem solving this
I have the same issue. At times putting the cover up will make it go into sleep mode but other times it just won't and restarting doesn't seem to fix it. Very frustrating.I'm having the problem where my Surface Pro 2 refuses to Sleep when running Win10. It seems to be a widely reported problem from a quick Google which MS has tried to address with a firmware update which has not been successful for a lot of users. It's annoying as hell having to shut my SP2 all the way down to stop it draining my battery. I hope it's addressed soon.

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE?
I just got my SP3 back from the MS Store because I was stuck in a loop. They tried recovering, but ended up having to do a fresh W10 install. Took overnight but was free.
Is there a way to change the horrendous log in background (the one you only see when you enter your password) Changing the lockscreen is easily made under personalization. Can you change the other one? This is what I mean :![]()
Now suddenly the get windows 10 app is saying my computer isn't compatible when it was all this time before. What the hell?
I would recommend everyone who does reset make a bootable USB drive before using reset. Myself and others have had a blue screen error about the boot device when using it.Asking again for new page,
Has this happened to anyone else?
Dunno about your other permission issues, but you can right click the Downloads folder in My Computer and set it to whatever you like under the "Location" tab. Same thing for Music, Pictures, Video and similar.
What are the permission issues you're running into? What are you changing?
