Just checked Windows update again.
On the list of installed updates the last one is Upgrade to Windows 10 Home and it has failed.
It's only 7:25 pm here though so that's probably why.

I did the command to try to preload 10, it's not downloading but it's downloading more updates.

Mine also started off at 140 MB and then ballooned in size to the now 5.0 GB+. Just be patient!

Had nothing but problems on an asus transformer tablet since I got it. It looks like this Windows defender definition that always fails to update is going to keep me from downloading Windows 10. Every time I go through the downloading windows 10 it stops and fails because of this defender thing that I've never been able to install .

I'm in the UK, had the "update is ready, we'll let you know" thing going on for ages. I just restarted and now its installing! Might be a simple kick up the arse that it needed, if anyone else in the UK wants to try that.
Is Edge the web browser? Did they scrap Spartan?

Specifically on my end, those two necessary updates weren't ever installed because they got buried in the optional tab (KB3035583 and KB2976978). Grab those. Once I created and ran that .cmd file mentioned, the Win10 icon popped right up.

So i just deleted the windows update files using the disk cleaner. Am i screwed, i just noticed a Windows BT folder with just a 288MB file in it.

Someone on reddit said clear out your \windows\softwaredistribution\downloads folder and that worked for me

3.0 GB or something like that for the OS update itself + anything extra is for the Win10 drivers and Day 1 fixes....
This was my thought too, I saw the gif when the blue screen happened, then waited for it to loop back so I could see it make fun of ME, and then was left disappointed.
Yeah. Telling of the author's age.
ME was horrible for upgrades.
OK for clean installs.
Even Windows 98 needed two launches.

My BT folder is at 3+GB, I want to turn my PC off soon and go to bed but I'm scared it'll effect it..

At this point, just be patient. If you wanted to mess around with Win 10 earlier, I would've recommended joining the Insiders Program, but Microsoft has disabled the downloading of the official ISOs at the moment.
where is win95
Edge is a great browser, but the lack of extension support (at least for now) will probably be a deal breaker for most people.

I'm using it now. It's very quick, I might use it for normal browsing and relegate Chrome to more seedier activities.

It is just on the C: drive for me. But it is a hidden folder, so you would need to enable viewing of hidden system folders.
This has seemed to work. Downloading now
But im guessing it wont update after.. just gonna download the files

My folder was at 5.98gbs and I was able to update to Windows 10 with no problem.
Doing this might work. It started the install for me.
