I am in the same position.
Although I have no failures in the updates installed section.

So how much free space should I allocate for this to be installed other than the installer? Once the update is downloaded, I will have about 10GB free. Will that be enough?

So when I install this when I get home, is it going to delete/overwrite 8.1 on my SSD? I don't really need it on there any more if so, and the extra space is always good.

No, it'll back up with an upgrade.

You can delete it using cleanmgr after the installation.

Used the reddit instructions. Finally got it! I'm in East coast btw.

Time to upgrade!

How fast did it redownload for you? Seems like it'll delete the pre-load, but I'm not even sure if my folder is done or not and I want to get Windows 10 now. D:

What do you mean by bloatware? To be fair it's not like you could easily uninstall many of the default programs that came with Windows anyway.

The Xbox app for example, they shouldn't stop me from uninstalling it. I'm sure there's a workaround but still.

People referring to "reddit instructions" and showing that they are actually able to INSTALL it now, are you talking about something beyond just the "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" bit?

I think it's all downloaded now for me, because the update history has added three failed attempts to install Windows 10 in the past few minutes. Didn't do any of the methods to force it or anything, and it never even said it was downloading anything on Windows update. But Windows Update has been using the internet for a few hours now to download, and the hidden files kept getting bigger.

So with it having repeated failed attempts to install now, is there anything I can do to install it? Just wait?

Not sure but 15-20 mins I guess?

I just did what reddit mentioned. Deleted the files and used the cmd. Worked perfectly.

I'm in Australia and tried the Reddit trick. It finished downloading, tried to install then failed with error 80240020.

These are the same failures I had, via the reddit method.

My folder is sitting at 5.44 GB (5,851,296,564 bytes).

Reddit trick does nothing, Update history keeps saying Failed.

Anyone know if deleting and doing the trick will get it to fully download and install?

Will all the files be in the $Windows BT folder? That folder is only 140MB on both of my machines, but my desktop lists the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro as failed (as I'd expect since it's not midnight yet here in the US). And 3 GB have disappeared from my laptops hard drive.

For me the Windows Update Fixit worked. After that run the cmd thing and you are good to go.

Edit: If you want to know that the files are getting downloaded, check the network activity in the task manager and look after svchost.exe

I think this worked! I have the folder now. It only has 140 MB in it, but Windows Update lists "Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro: Failed" in View Update History.

I've been on Windows 10 for a few months now from the Insiders program.

Am I already on the final 10 build?

I did the trick, got the same update history errors - so I don't think so.

I have a BT folder over 6GB, I did the CMD command, reset my computer, got an error message, and the reboot was like any other update reboot. What now?

Mine is installing right now. I deleted the contents of the Download folder, and Windows Update had to redownload the big install file.

Setup is at 9% and it's crawling.

I reset Windows 10 just to clear up any junk lying around. Feels nice having a fresh install.

I'm currently using Microsoft Edge as my browser while I let Ninite install a bulk of my programs. I like the look and simplicity of Edge, but I'm probably gonna stick to Firefox for now. I can't do without my add-ons.

Something that quickly became apparent to me is how large the close/minimize/resize buttons and title bar looks now. This is on a 1920x1080 monitor.

HOLLLLLLLLY SHIT

It worked

Based god, I can finally sleep

Ok for anyone who used the reddit tricks, got the update/installed and then got errors in windows update when the preinstall was done, try wiping the file and doing it again, worked for me.

Deleting the BT Folder or Download folder in softwaredistribution?
