Why the fuck would my PC say 29th of July for the update...but then MS just don't release it.

I mean I know i'll get it tomorrow but seriously.

Dissapointed.

don't worry everyone, updating sooner just means that you'll turn against it sooner and start talking about how you can't wait for windows 11

Installed and running on one of my rigs. After the reddit trick it failed. Second time trying it worked perfect. That was about an hour ago now.

The method of emptying the software distribution/download folder worked like a charm. Redownloaded 3 gigs worth and I'm up in 10 now.

If people are hesitant, just wait for the Day 1 patch that's suppose to fix more bugs. Should hit tomorrow I assume. Probably won't do my update till tomorrow after work, but it's ready to go.

Wait, so how does a clean install work. If I choose to upgrade, will it give me the option for a clean install?

This drama is getting good.

How's it working out for people who did an upgrade/update instead of a fresh install?

I usually do a clean install for new OSes because everything works out so much better, but I built this rig and installed Win 8.1 only four months ago and don't feel like doing it all again so soon.

Using onboard sound, I feel so gross. I guess I can handle it for a few months until Creative release a Windows 10 driver for my card if I have to :/

It ran like shit for me, super slow and choppy. Works fine after a clean install.

I hated Windows 10 before it was even released!

Seriously tho guys, Frankie says relax. EVERYONE EVER is downloading it because it was free. Everyone do something else on the OS you have now that is working just fine and wait it out lol

Finally got it up and running. Christ if I knew the install process was going to take so long I would have waited until tomorrow and got some sleep. So far so good. Seems ultra slick and super fast. Cool and clean interface. Love it infinitely more than 8.1 so far. A return to form. I'm absolutely wiped out now though from hours of trying to get this installed so I guess I won't have fun with this until tomorrow. Still though, mission accomplished.

How are the rest of you guys that have it running finding it? Like it?

I did everything suggested here and got it to work. It says it's only 2.6GB. Is that normal? I'm currently using Windows 8.1 btw.

My windows 7 desktop just downloaded some sort of last minute recommended update. That got installed (I'm assuming it was a key or something). Now I'm installing windows 10.

You probably didn't have real drivers, and instead had in-box drivers, if it was all slow and choppy.

Just another reason to wait for official release instead of trying to shove it in early :-)
