Am i the only one who still hasn't been able to download it?

my taskbar thing says it will notify me when it is ready.
But nothing

Please read three pages back. I posted a link as did many others that explain the official Microsoft tool to download and install it whenever you want.

My work macbook pro that runs 8.1 Pro on a VM (VMWARE) got the reserve update. So did my personal desktop. However, my personal macbook pro my 8.1 Pro VM (personal) refuses to get the icon to reserve/upgrade.

Tried everything recommend on the community forum. Microsoft's rep says it's because its not eligible. Which I promptly called bullshit on it. I have my receipt and my 8.1 pro license . It is a legit license of windows 8.1 Pro.

Really? Can I force it somehow? And how can I do a clean install using the same key?

Use the download tool while loaded up in Windows 8. Hit upgrade and let it do its thing. After it is done use the USB to start the fresh install when prompted for a key you can skip it. It is stored server side when it tries to activate later. I would also use a key finder program once you do the initial upgrade and save the key in case you need it at some point.

I'm running the setup.exe from the creation tool ISO directly from windows explorer (8.1 Pro). I'll let you guys know how it goes.

I've installed every update available on this stupid Windows 7 laptop I've been asked to update, but it won't give me the upgrade/reserve option.

Ugh.

Ignore the reserve icon at this point. Run the MS download tool and run the upgrade.

Been trying to get this guy to go for the last 24 hours or so seems like.

Was so impressed by the XBox One streaming on the technical preview that I slapped on my MacBook Pro that I plunked down $60 for Win7 Pro on eBay just to get the free upgrade for the retail version. Problem is Windows Update keeps failing on the upgrade. Fine, I tried the Media Creation Tool link that is going around. I wait an hour and a half to get the thing downloaded - and son of a bitch the thing crashes during the initial setup. I didn't capture the error lke an idiot so I am not sure what it was. Presently redownloading the thing with the same tool (pretty sure I'll get the same result and can say what the error was). Yes I have also tried the ISO link but it redirects to this tool.

Oh well, guy at work downloaded it on his thumb drive. Guess I'll probably have to rely on him.

The Twitter app updated, it's now an universal app with adaptable UI and uses the accent color for title bar color.

Aaaand back to my regular Windows 7 programming.

Shame, actually liked what I saw and used. Time to invest in a new ultrabook I guess.

Have fun everyone else.

I just had the worse luck with Windows 10. Everything installed fine, but it took me awhile to get Nvidia drivers working. I had a couple of crashes and some of my apps stopped working, all the settings and updating ones, and when I was looking up solutions firefox was constantly crashing. Nothing worked, so I ran tests, checked files, and even tried reinstalling but everything failed. Finally restoring got rid of the problem, but that wasn't completely successful so I opted to do a fresh install just because I was starting from scratch anyway.

I reformatted the hard drive, but after none of the installers worked, I had a DVD and USB one and they all failed halfway through. I even tried my Win 7 DVD and that failed too, I couldn't even reformat my SSD in diskpart command line. I was getting so frustrated, I didn't understand how W10 could ruin my SSD. Finally, I read something about unplugging the power for your SSD and unhooking additional HDD and one of them seemed to work and it finally installed without any errors.

Does this mean I lose out on my free upgrade, or do I have to reinstall Win 7 (it's the only DVD I have) and upgrade again?

Clean install on my new SSD and everything is so fast. I'd guess most of the speed comes from the SSD but so far I'm happy with 10. I think Edge could eventually be a good browser too.

If you already upgraded and it activated you should be OK to install Windows 10 without Windows 7.

The download tool just gives me an option for ISO and USB. Should I use the USB while on W8?

Sounds like quite the ride... gonna hold off until you all figure out all the bullshit for me.

Not that I blame him, :lol

So I'm back on Windows 7. Can anyone tell me if Windows 10 bypasses the log-in screen completely if you don't have a password set up? My mouse and keyboard wouldn't work at all on the log-in screen. Tried everything, I couldn't get into Windows so I couldn't roll-back, and had to install Win 7 on my secondary SSD...pain in the arse.

I would lean towards the iso. I would mount the image and run the installer and see what you get. The download tool should give you the upgrade option but I have heard it doesn't show for everyone.

got windows 10 installed so far so good, I had to download the windows 10 Nvidia driver and am currently installing Norton but other then that everything seems pretty smooth, anyway I have a question. how do I customize my colors? I mean how do I adjust them like I could do on 7.

We're way past 100 pages, so I couldn't read it all. I've been using the preview build for months, is there a way to freely upgrade to the final version yet? Or do I have to install Windows 7 just to update the thing?

I have a valid Windows 7 license, by the way.

Should I really go for the tool? If I upgrade it wouldn't ask me for the key right?

The tool should give you the upgrade option right within windows 8. It sometimes doesn't allow everyone to upgrade but it sounds more hit than miss. It got my one rig to upgrade where my others were all ready and waiting.

Upgrade from Windows 7 if you want a fully activated Windows 10 licence!

It might be my voice right now (it's a little hoarse) but she won't even open steam up for me. I'll have to try it later.

It's funny. I didn't think I was going to use her all that much. Just reminders alone while I am on work calls is great. She gets pretty derailed also. I can say remind me to call so and so in 45 minutes. Works perfect everytime. I have used both my Web cam and my blue snowball as my mic. Both work perfect with her.
