This is probably the cringiest video from Linus. He makes a point to say that Microsoft added something to the OS, but then tells you why it sucks and that it's comparable to something else. How else does a software company compete if they aren't on par? Secondly, barely anyone uses Linux.

I'm going to laugh when people that are using it for their day-to-day computing lose access because they start enforcing the TPM Chip and System Requirements. People, don't run this on your machine as your default OS.

Pretty sure they will backpedal and allow use of W10 Start Menu at this rate. The Feedback Hub is full of complaints.

Also if you're trying to get Win 11 still, you need to be in the Windows Insider program AND switch to the Dev Channel. For me I had to edit a registry setting to put me in it as it didn't give me the selection menu to swap between the 3 channels manually.

To the not so tech savy but barely enough, what exactly does Win11 brings to the table other than UI overhaul ?

Like Vista to 7 was self explanatory, and Win10 on my old laptop was faster than 7.
I hear Win11 requires better CPU, does it makes sense to upgrade from 10 when I literally do not want anything more out of this OS. (i5 9300h)

Just noticed that for background images you can now choose a "Span" option to span a single image across 2 monitors instead of mirroring the image separately for each monitor. This could make for some fun stuff.

I mean the only thing that this changes is that you can use a single big/wide image instead of cutting it down to, say 3 pieces, and then applying all the individual pieces manually to the corresponding screen.
a nice quality of life change for sure, but not something that brings new possibilities with it as far as I can see

Yeah I got so annoyed by the forced combine and lack of text that I went back to W10 since there weren't any distinguishing features that make W11 better at this point.

It's literally not done yet. The point of the Beta is to give feedback. If enough feedback is given, they will make the change. Does anyone remember where W10 started?

so i've decided to go back to Windows 10. after a few days the excitement wore off. there are some promising changes and i know it's a dev build but it was just pissing me off. ultimately i feel like it doesn't deserve to be called Windows 11. it should be Windows 10 21H2 which is exactly what appears in error logs and in my MS account.

i'll wait for public release and see if i want to go to W11.

That's almost always used as an excuse.

They released this into the public, so it clearly shows what their plans for the OS are. Sure, some bits will change, but it really will take a lot of backlash to get them to bring back removed features.

I remember and much wasn't change. They don't listen to the feedback that much, rather pick up the posts on the Microsoft support forum with more 'likes'.

I participated on both Windows 8 and Windows 10 beta BTW.

How can so many people be jumping to conclusions about whether or not Windows 11 will be good or bad based on it's appearance? They got rid of live tiles, simplified the start menu which appears to be fairly customizable. Not to mention, it has a much lighter footprint than its predecessors. Other than that, it's just a refreshed version of Windows, per usual except that it's getting rid of it's Windows Phone-esque UI.

People are stupid.

You forgot Windows 2000, which was excellent, and Windows 7 was just Vista with a new theme, no real changes. So Windows 11 is the 7 to 10's Vista. Vista wasn't even that bad. I've found over the years that people who think Vista was a bad OS are (or were) clueless.

Well that and the memory leaks which leads to a lot of BSODs on ME, ME is the only operating system you can leave on the desktop doing nothing and within hours your computer will crash.

Already, improvements are rolling out for Windows 11 insider build. So all those worries about moving the start menu around will hopefully be resolved around release. I'm holding out for small icons, myself.

98 Fucking sucked, 98 SE was a lot better.

That "show taskbar on each monitor" setting is absolutely glorious.

Each monitor only shows the items that are actually on that screen. Move something from one screen to another moves the taskbar icon onto the active monitor. Very nice.
