[Windows Central] Activision decides Call of Duty Black Ops 6 players don't spend enough money, introduces a second concurrent battle pass

The normal battlepass has enough content for me, so I don´t care. I finish the battlepass each season which contains enough coins to buy the next and so on.

Sweet. Can’t wait for the squid game event. I completed the battle pass weeks ago. Need new content to keep me going.

Genius move to put a hat on a hat. I'm trying to think if the yearly COD only gamers stop buying COD, will they go with another IP or just leave gaming.

I mean…. Maybe if the game worked. COD is the only game I’ve personally ever played that the more they ‘patch’ it the more they actually break it.

Don’t buy it? I don’t even buy the regular battle pass I never spend a dollar on CoD besides the initial purchase.

You’re buying items only other players see, it’s been this way for a decade. But going off other players this isn’t going to stop people lapping this up either.

I mean, don't buy it? But also, it sounds like there's an operator on it, which means if the price of this "premium track" is cheaper than regular operator bundles, then this is a complete nothingburger.
Not a single aspect about videogames can be criticized, no matter how small, if dont buy it is a valid argument.

Oh this game transforms in to a big dicked robot and rapes your mom while you're gone? I mean dont buy it.

Next quarterly earnings call will be very interesting to behold.
Considering the game sold well on PS5, the quarterly revenue would most likely go up - only by a little though. But the opportunity cost would definitely continue to sting MS execs and investors alike.

This is the 1st cod I've played in 15 years. The ads are constant. Beating you over the head to buy a battle pass.

The actual game is incredibly small. 3 maps for zombies? I tried playing the campaign and the 4th mission has you taking pictures and doing a fetch quest.

What the fuck?!? Seriously it was Spiderman Mary Jane levels of frustration. At least it makes sense in Spider-Man.

Having fun cause I play with my coworkers but the amount of content you get is ridiculous. Overall not impressed

Yep. I just asked my son and he said they currently have 5 different battle passes active between all the different modes.

But Fortnite is free. I'm not clear if the COD battle passes are specific to this year's paid game, or the F2P mode (warzone?)

Fortnite also has something called Fortnite Crew membership for $12 a month that gets you all the battle passes

Does COD have anything similar to that

Well, you have people here complaining about getting more content and while there are others who are wanting more content for Destiny 2 and funny enough, if D2 were to add another season pass or a new activity and were to charge for it, gamers will be up in arms forgetting that they wanted more content to begin with, but somehow don't realize that they will also have to pay for it lol... this just shows that gamers will never be pleased and as a group just like to complain about every thing that is possible to complain about.

Nah, poor take.

The one thing COD does not skimp on is content. The game is about the only game I’ve never had any doubt about buying, knowing I’ll get a full years worth out of it.

Providing you like the MP that is!

Yep, all them bitches out there buying micro transactions and it will just keep on going. Let’s make the kids just give their bank accounts over to them as they become adults and have been groomed that this is normal.

I’ve wondered for years when CoD will get some sort of subscription service. I know Fortnite has numerous battle passes, didn’t know they have a subscription service for them. I guess it’s only a matter of time before CoD adds one too, and then the sheep can whine about the GamePass effect.

Maybe they have so many people paying for the premium version of the premium battle passes, Blackcell of whatever it’s called, that they don’t think a sub service is worthwhile.

Lack of content? Come on now.

Well, it’s either full-priced games get stuffed with crap like this, or the price of games goes up. I have a friend who works at Capcom and he said that they make more on every game from MTX than they do on actual sales from the game itself, and their MTX inclusion is nowhere near as egregious. Basically, this crap ain’t going nowhere-devs are making too much from it and it’s keeping AAA game prices around $60-$70.

Then why the fuck do you gimps keep buying this slop? Honestly COD players deserve this fir supporting such a shitty company, milked until their all broke and COD/Acti finally collapses

I am 57 and have purchased MTX often in COD over the years when they look good enough and have spent literally thousands on MTX in a F2P game called World of Tanks.

Really seems to piss people off that others don't mind OPTIONAL MTX in games.

It’s not optional when they use psychologists to groom children and buyers. So yes, it pisses me off. Just like anything else is supply and demand, this is also. You folks demand to bend over and they supply it. Making more ways to separate young adults, children, and weaker minded people from money in their bank accounts.

You can spend what you want, as long as you realize you are the problem.

Its not a problem for me as if I don't want it I don't buy it

Its also not my problem if people are indeed weak minded enough they can't help themselves

Its also not my problem if parents can't control their kids spending

I actually prefer the content provided by Battle Passes and buying very powerful tanks in World of Tanks

Every single product has people behind it trying to figure out ways to get you to make a purchase even if you don't need to, doesn't mean it stops being optional.
Kids and young adults are not constantly subjected to loss aversion, gambling, etc in regular advertising. They constantly hit at children’s and young adults emotions, grooming them to believe handing over money for digital goods is normal.

I understand some folks do not care what happens to others because of these types of actions and what they do to addiction, I am just calling it like I see it.

There's no gambling in COD, and the games are rated mature, so blame the parents for giving them unfiltered access 🤷‍♂️
And if you want to talk about actual advertising to kids, look at any toy commercial and marketing materials and how they are designed to make kids go crazy with fomo.

every product's marketing will be designed to hit some emotion to get you to make a purchase; still optional.

Chill, o’ great righteous one.

Your words can apply to just about anything sold. And they will be equally soft, wet and ineffectual there too.

That's what you get for playing CoD in 2024.
Leveled up around 700 times, 10 prestige levels and level 150 in prestige master so no telling how many hours I have played in a game I bought with 1 battle pass so far

How dare them scam me into so many hours of gaming for less than $150, fuck them

#1 afaik there’s no gambling in CoD, though I wouldn’t put it past them.

#2 if you don’t think kids are subjected to gambling on a regular basis, you haven’t seen a lot of the games on Roblox or taken a stroll down a toy aisle lately. I don’t have any kids younger than 12 now but every Christmas I shop for younger nieces and nephews and charities and I am always floored by how much gambling there is in kids toys nowadays in the form of loot boxes and FOMO. It’s especially bad in toys licensed after YouTubers, which tons of kids really want.

Fuck CoD and fuck their premium BlackCell pass that is on top of the already paid battle pass track, but this is all optional stuff you don’t need to play and enjoy the game.
