Downloading / installing it now. I'll let it fuck up my work machine first...

Do they honestly think I'm going to check that "Send unique Player ID to content providers" checkbox...

Good lord is this thing ugly. It's as though AOL, Real, and Microsoft teamed up to create the ultimate interface...OF EVIL. Thank Jebus for skins...

What happened?

It fucked up everything, hardly could even move my mouse across the screen, everything was in such a shitty shape i had to format, my wireless network couldnt connect to the net etc.

I`m going linux as in 3 weeks

WMP9 has been freaking out the last few weeks when trying to play any video file in full screen. Hopefully installing WMP10 fixes that.

WMP Classic is the best and most stable player they've made. It's just missing the filmy filtering of WMP9, a playlist and fast seeking in streamed media.

I have no idea why they're cluttering the interface with fucking junk like Now Playing. Who the fuck cares? I just use the shit to play what I want to see. It's not fucking TV.

did they fix the album information search function? it really pisses me off when I am searching for the art to my mp3's and it says the song does not exist. Ok, I know the song exists, I'm listening to it. I also know that it is part of this particular album, don't tell me it isn't. I can type the exact information in and it will still tell me it can't find it. argh.

the big red X on the top right of the default skin is killing me.

But from what I understand, it's only a cosmetic thing that happens with that new MSN music deal. WMP10 can't seem to download or process that icon for MSN music.

How come I get a Red X on the top right corner where the MSN butterfly should be? The Red X is quite jarring to look at on a program such as this.

The X is probably there because the store is still in beta, but I guess some people have got the butterfly to show up there.

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!

Ok, how do I uninstall this piece of crap?

2.3 How do I uninstall Windows Media Player 9 Series or later?
The procedure varies depending upon which version of the Player you are running.

Windows Media Player 10
If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installing Windows Media Player 10.

To roll back from Windows Media Player 10 to a previous version

1. In Control Panel (Category View), click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs again, and then do one of the following:
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the Show updates check box (at the top of the list), click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.
- or -
If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

You can also use System Restore to roll back to the previous version of the Player. For more information about System Restore, see the Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur page.

Seriously, who here STILL uses WMP?! If there's alot of faster and better alternatives out htere like BSPlayer, MPC and Zoom, why bother with it. =\

I've been using MPC for years now, but sometimes when I use it to play a video, it starts eating resources like crazy (100% CPU utilization), while the same video on MP9 doesn't.

Some of the same people who still use IE and Outlook for POP3 accounts.

I still use wmp :/ with klite pack and quicktime alt and ie-sp2...I guess i'm the naive sheep, but how much faster are alternatives going to be on a 3ghz+ 1gb ram machine really? nanoseconds?

If you want fast, download Zoombrowser. If you want good, download BS Player. But it's not just a matter of speed, it's features, interface, and the fact that most other players don't have an agenda to send information about you back to their parent companies, among other things. i still use WMP (and IE) for the occasional instance of something that won't work properly outside an MS product, but those times are few and far between.

I'd rather not install unncessary shit that takes up more space when I have programs already that will do everything fine, hence WMP.

At least it isn't a dog like QT. What a piece of shit that is.

There is no big differences I can see in WMP10, I use the same series9default skin. Who the fuck uses WMP for audio libraries anyway?

Best new feature: if you're playing a playlist, and then open a single song/movie clip (for instance, from an email or the web), you can click "back" after the single item finishes playing and resume the playlist where you left off.

Somebody else may have this in, but I can't understand why this hasn't been a feature in EVERY music player for the past 5 years.

Hey it's just a matter of good, better, best. Judging by your post, i take it you don't use WMP for music. If that's true, why didn't you didn't you stick with WMP? WMP, possible privacy concerns aside, is a decent program and there's a lot you can do with it. But there's others that offer greater functionality than WMP, and they don't take a lot of space. Zoom Player and BS Player occupy roughly 3MB each, WMP9 is roughly 4.7MB.

Just some food for thought.
