No u.

Damn social life, why do I have to be out? I want to get in and do it successfully and gloat at all this who stink eyed me :)))

Just to clarify (although I think you got it), it was a joke on my part. I remember the horrible mess you went through with the Walshed phone and the lack of updates. I definitely don't wish for any regulars of this thread to get their phone bricked. Maybe some lurker or something, but definitely not you again. :)

Sure Mango is awesome, but not that awesome.

There are no apps that take advantage of the multitasking, Google/YouTube didn't add IE9 as a compatible browser for the mobile HTML5 site yet, Twitter isn't in and ... well, the rest is pretty awesome. :lol

Do apps automatically take advantage of the rendering engine from IE9? I'm thinking specifically of Flux and SurfCube. I'd willing to try out the beta just for that.

I don't have Flux, but I went to html5test.com with SurfCube and the score was much lower (141 with IE9 vs 41 points with SC).

http://secondapps.com/neogaf/ looks much better in the new browser.
Really? I didn't notice any difference.

E: Wait, yes, I did. You can finally change the main menu order! But the check boxes, for example, still don't have rounded edges.

speaking of websites.... does anybody have some direct html5 ones? it seems most of the ios sites do the detection and I can't get to the html5 site for most things.... would serve and an intermediary until those sites start recognizing wp7.

Perhaps it was just the screen on my Omnia 7, but previously the logo and grey shades suffered from colour banding, and some icons looked jagged. It all looks smooth and sharp to me now, the improvement was immediately apparent.

Does the "search" button work now?

Dude.....stop.

I'm amazed at how much faster the OS runs with the Mango beta update.

No complaints so far (besides losing all data when the the real Mango update comes).

Well I've just got in, fed the fish, got a can of pepsi max and a bar of kitkat chunky. Got my porn on a separate window blaring out the loud speaking and my phone connected to the pc.... Chums up, let's do this.....

I'm a student developer, but my previous email account got shut down, which is probably the reason why I wont receive the connect email.

I guess I will just wait for the rtm mango. Have fun with the dev. mango update.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Please elaborate. :p

The button doesn't work, sorry.

The animations are faster. It's definitely a way to make the OS feel faster. :D

Ugh seems like it's going to take longer than expected, it's downloading the developer tools :( 299kb/s, 31MB/575MB

Guess i've got a while to spend on sweetnospacefilmnotdotcombutdottheotherone...

Hey, self, it appears The Witcher 2 is sale on Steam. Maybe you should be and play that instead of brick your phone...

TORTURE.

Some one tell me more about how nice Mango is right now. I swear I'll keep my pants on.

The biggest disapointment for me for Mango and WP7 in general is that Bing (Local Scout Etc.) and Zune are gimped in Canada...maybe it will be sorted out one day but I'm not holding my breath.

What feature set does your Bing Vision have?

Sorry for the confusion, I don't have Mango. I just got the impression from previews that Bing Vision will only be for certain regions. I hope I'm wrong.

Ah cool. No problem. This regional difference stuff is really, really shit though. Even for things that seem quite basic. Like being able to download podcasts directly from your phone. You'll be able to do it in the US but not anywhere else...

So....????????????

little help please

Chevron unlocked (reg trick to keep unlocked) NODO build 7390, Sammy Focus with HW revision 3.1.0.7, firmware 2103.11.3.3

Can I use the files I found to update to Mango?

will it still be unlocked?

will it create a back up for me or do i need to make one?

will I be able to restore?

thanks if you have answers

Ugh, whenever I try opening MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate.exe it asks me to accept, then when i do I get an error of "UpdateWP has stopped working"...

Did you install the Setup-UpdateWP-x64.exe or Setup-UpdateWP-x86.exe first?

Did you also install zune 4.8?

Delete the file it puts in the zune folder and reinstall.... had that happen to me.

Which folder where now?

edit: Anyone?

also, just checked my timestamp, began process 2hrs ago, and so far have accomplished jack shit. HELP me pls, I'm going bed in an hr, I have work in the morning :(

e2:
The Zune folder (in program files) was where the file needed to be deleted, it's now creating a backup, 6%. Probaly got time for a shower...

e3:
oh ffs, got the rest of it working, up to 7401 update, last step and just like the last update I tried (the one after NoDo) I get an error 80180048... I'm sulking so going off to bed. :'( avatar quote etc.

e4:
fucking Walsh...

e5:
I'm quitting like a boss.

e6:
One last, hurrah, one last fuck you Walsh. Turns out 80180048 is a Walshed phone problem, re-"unwalshed" the phone, everything went "fine" back to the preMango update, back to the 7401 update update, wait, error 80180048 again. Now I'm quitting like a boss. I'm tired, frustrated and nothing to show for the past 3hrs of my life....

I'm in the UK and it works here. Barcode and book scanning worked fine. Prices were listed in dollars, but I got any relevant information I'd need and Amazon.co.uk was a listed search result. Local Scout also works well. It picked out all of the local restaurants, takeaways, museums etc with Bing maps integration

My Omnia 7 is connected to my PC by USB (not the official Samsung miniUSB/USB, but that shouldn't matter, right?), and is charging, but it is not showing up in Zune. Why?

Happens to me sometimes on my PC. Changing USB ports usually works, to one at the back of the PC. Oddly it connects every time with my laptop.

Aw, just realised my custom ringtones are gone (in fact all my Chevron unluck apps don't work). Is this officially supported yet?

Without trying to put fear into you, I had the same problem where it wasn't recognized by Zune on mine or my wife's PC's but seemed to be charging. Initial repairer couldn't redo the firmware either so it was sent off to have the phones USB connection replaced. Make sure you have tried connecting to the USB 2.0 connections on your PC before calling up support.

Yay, custom ringtones officially work in Mango. Unfortunately only with DRM-free MP3/WMA's that are less than 40 seconds long and under 1MB in size. Add the file to Zune, change the genre to 'Ringtone' and it shows up in the ringtone list in settings.

Mango users! Please tell me there are separate ring and music volume controls.
Don't think so. Not in this iteration anyway, that I can find.

Btw, new Facebook app update. Push notifications are here. I have notifications but live tiles? Is that the number on the tile to show how many messages you have? I thought it'd work like showing actual images

Barcode scanning? Book scanning? UK? What witchcraft is this? Why do I not have this?

The number is the message count, yes. If you want to see the images, check the live tile of your people hub. ;-)

are they still planning on fixing it? It looks like crap right now.
Ha! I'm not crazy! At least not in this case. I could've sworn that I didn't see any banding on pictures, but when I ran the WP Bench tool (it's in the marketplace, nothing special), I saw banding everywhere. Same with the British Airways or Machinima app, but when you look at pictures, it's gone. Older apps are still in 16 bit, because they're obviously coded in Silverlight, so there's that.

Press the search button, you should have 4 new icons at the bottom. Press the eye icon and you can do barcode/tag/QR scanning as well as CD, DVD and book recognition.

I know this sounds ridiculous, but try changing your region and everything else in the region+language settings to "English (United States)" and try again.
Ah, that might be it. I had already done that to activate voice search in NoDo.

I was playing with some regions again and even though I had Bing Vision, the code scanning didn't work at all. It completely ignored bar codes. Now I switched back to US and it works like a charm.

Bar code scanning seemed hit and miss for me on non-US products. It picked up on Rock Band and BioShock 2 though. Everything else worked fine obviously, since book/DVD/CD artwork isn't region specific.

Just tried it with Scott Pilgrim Vol 6.

US: It picks up the bar code in seconds.
UK: It tries to identify the text or cover or whatever, but definitely not the bar code.
