Hello.

First, sorry for my poor English.

I live in Brazil and bought a phone windows 7, I would like to buy a few apps but Microsoft does not accept my credit card because I do not live in the U.S..

The paypal only works on the xbox, is there any way I can buy my apps for Windows Phone?
The only payment option is credit card.

I almost don't even remember what Android versions prior to ICS were like anymore.

I try to forget, every day.

ICS is nice.. but the quad core transformer prime is the best ICS experience.. it makes my Tuna feel slow..

I'll probably keep swapping sim cards alternately.. that is the beauty of the sim card.. not tied to any one device.

I went to a few stores recently to check out some Windows Phones and there were quite a few test models. Seems like a good idea to give people the chance to play around with them, but the execution is horrible... Alsmost all Windows Phones I have seen were almost 'empty' compared to the Android deviced they were right next to. The live tiles didn;t do their thing becouse there was no info to update or images to show. The Android devices however had these animated wallpapers and these apps on the homescreen.. made me think..is there a sane person who would choose this static looking OS over the vibrant colourfull OS phone right next to it, without knowing the OS'es.

Microsoft is gonna struggle at retail, I'm sure of that.

I flyer leaked for the Noklia 710 in Canada (Rogers). It is supposed to launch on Feb. 6th. at $50 for 3 years, $100 for 2 years, $149 for 1 year, and $249 outright. Pretty good deal imo. Might try to convince my wife to get one unlocked so she can use it with Fido. Hope the Lumia 800 also has an aggresive price with Telus.

You can add text on the tile but I didn't bother. It also flips to show the back, you can add another line of text on there as well as another image and URL You can guess which site this one goes to

Curious to see what the 900 will be without contract. Probably somewhere between $600 and $700.

I will be in the same boat.... interested in the 900 but I do not have an upgrade until nov. If I could get it off contract for $500 I'll upgrade.... if not I will wait for apollo.

Some rumors about Windows Phone 8

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/microsoft/redhawk-to-be-part-of-microsofts-windows-phone-8-too/11723

It seems from all the latest evidence and rumor is that 900 exclusivity is only in the US and the phone will be available in many places so that's good.

Also $99 for Lumia 900 sound too good to be true. I have two contract coming up in April. Not sure what to do with my Titan however....

”Texus Shell (TShell) is a tool that allows you to interact with Windows Phone “Apollo” phones via a Windows PowerShell command prompt. You can copy files to the phone, execute processes, attach a debugger, run commands using the phone’s command interpreter, and run test content stored on WTT test servers”

“You can use Hyper-V to test x86 builds of the phone OS”

I want to believe.

No one knows for certain. It would be insane for Microsoft not too but with the rumors of the entire kernel being replaced an upgrade is seeming unlikely.

I keep hearing people say an upgrade is unlikely but nobody can ever give a good reason. Windows 8 isn't running on hardware much different from our existing Windows Phone devices. Also, if you guys think a device like Lumia 900 that just came out is going to be obsolete in 6 months... don't know what to say

According to some it would have no real impact on the phone. I doubt the end user would even notice so it's possible.

“Switching to the NT kernel should have no impact on existing WP7 applications as those apps have no direct access to Windows CE. This really should be a very seamless move for both applications and end-users. The ODMs (original design manufacturers) and carriers are really the only ones who have significant work to do since drivers or any other native mode software they wrote will need to be ported or rewritten. But things written with Silverlight/.NET/XNA should just work. I guess there might be a caveat for apps that use some esoteric feature that Microsoft decides to deprecate, but since most such features would only have been exposed in Mango I doubt Microsoft would have exposed them at all if they didn’t plan on carrying them over to WP8.”

I had an HTC 7 Trophy, which I broke so I got an Android phone. I hate it, it's a laggy piece of crap so I want another Windows Phone.

Is the LG Optimus 7 still worth buying? I can get it brand new for 1/2 the price of any other Windows Phone from Expansys.

I'd say the O7 is still a solid phone with a crappy camera and good battery life.

Nokia Q4 earnings PR is out

Accelerating investment in Lumia range of smartphones, having sold well over 1 million Lumia devices to date

Seems to be about in-line with the estimates I saw of 1m-1.5m. They're refusing to provide full year guidance as they're "still in transition", but announced a dividend that's well higher than expected, if that's any sort of guidance.

Too bad that they are not telling numbers for the N9.. Some analysts say it's sold between 1,3-1,5 million.. But perhaps due to silence it has sold more than Lumia..

Pretty good for an unwanted bastard child..

It launched in completely different markets than the Lumia800 and like 2 months earlier...

When I'm away from this thread for a while, I usually go back and read what I missed....glad I wasn't here, I probably would've gotten banned.

Also, at&t better hurry with that keyboard fix, the problem pops up once a day now.

Price of an imported Lumia 710 in Japan = $500 .......

I heard it works with Softbank SIM cards but I have no idea if it's confirmed that a Lumia 900 would work here...I love the look of the blue Lumia phones though...really want one if I can find it for a more reasonable price.

Why don't you just manually install the patch. It's fairly simple. Link a few pages back (may be more because of all the other OS discussion). Just don't forget to do language pack. I haven't have any problem with my Titan, and nice to not have the keyboard disappear.

I am sure you will be waiting for a long time with At&t. There's a reason why Microsoft remove that update page from their Windows Phone site so shitty carrier like At&t doesn't have to be accountable.
