Did you install memory into the phone? I was reading on another tech site about some crashes and every single person there suffering them had "upgraded" their phone's storage.

Only time I have to reboot is when the marketplace or the zune app crash which has nothing to do with the focus. I love browsing the marketplace and every time I do I have to reboot.

I thought also that the phone random reboot was unique to my focus but browsing windows phone site this apparently is common bug and happen to all phones. I am thinking may be one of the app because it never used to do it in beginning.

The way WP7 is setup now doesn't use Microsoft Points?

What? Talk about teams not working together.

That in a nutshell is the epitome of Microsoft failure. That's why the damm markeplace need to be fix. From crashing bug, searching bug to the lack of ability to use Microsoft own Live points is mind boggling.

I know some folks have mentioned in this thread about apps that allow you to search the marketplace, just use those. Makes no sense to keep using the default marketplace app for more than just casual browsing until they fix the bug. All it does is cause you more frustration when it crashes.

My phone has NEVER rebooted on its own. Ever. Get your phone checked out, you keep wasting time on forums and whining here, but that's a serious issue and you are just wasting time while your warranty may expire.

Keep the friggin points off the phone! No more stupid points anywhere. I am so glad they did not include points. It's a real pain in the Zune player marketplace to have to use points. So nice in the phone marketplace to not deal with points. Points are stupid.

Not having MS Points also means that you cannot buy stuff if you don't have a credit card. Most people here in Germany (just an example) don't have one and I only got one, because it's convenient when I import stuff. Credit card as the only payment method is just stupid outside of the US and it (again) shows that Microsoft doesn't realize that there's a market outside of the US.

That's why it should be possible to have both options. I asked once if they could include other payment options like PayPal, Bank transfer or anything else:
We haven't head any plan for those option in the future but we've passed along the suggestion.

Uh, yeah. Don't expect anything this year.

Yeah I never understood this mentality of hating on points or credit cards. I see no feasible reason we can't you know have both. Hell they have both for the full retail games on XBL in DD form.

No they are not, I can give my kids points to use budget my spending and best part is I often buy point on sale or use reward to buy point card.

Only thing stupid is the fact that live points can't be use on ms own Eco system, that is stupid.

Sorry if my whining annoy you but the problem is not the phone but a well known bug. I thought it was my phone also but it's not. Here is list of known bug from ms windows phone answer website. Phone auto reboot is right up there on top. I never experience mic / headset problem but that doesn't mean I think the bug doesnt exist for others or I blame defective hardware. Do you also have the focus?

points sadly have been going away.... imo its a matter of time until you can only use credit cards on zune/wp7/xbox live.

It will be good in that you can only spend what each item costs (vs the point system where they only sell chunks of points and you constantly have points left over).

Bad in that we will not be able to get discounts on stuff when point cards go on sale (every few months the $50 cards are on sale for $40 and that is a pretty big savings)

Here in the US, you can buy debit cards (both Visa and Mastercard) from a bank without an account. They can be used online as a credit card up to the prepaid amount. Are these not available in Europe and elsewhere? Not any more work than going to a store and buying points cards.

No, the whining doesn't annoy me, my point was that if you have a faulty phone, you should contact the manufacturer. Your link is just one poster who listed his issues, that doesn't make it widespread. How often does your phone reboot by itself? I'm telling you right now that it is not a widespread bug because we would've heard a ton about that, like we've heard about the actual common bugs like the marketplace and the audio glitches. That reboot bug is a lot more serious than any of the others and if it was widespread it would be a huge deal. So again, how often does your phone reboot itself?

And to answer your question, I have a Samsung Focus with a 4gb SD card installed.

I think that list is a compile list of bug. People report reboot on other phone (the omnia) so may be it's Samsung issue but I did see other non-Samsung device owner with the same issue. Both with and without sd card. The problem seem to be more prevalence with the card so may be that the culprit.

For me may be once or twice a week i t would self boot, seems to happen more often when I am at work.

If your phone is rebooting once or twice a week, I'm telling you right now you have defective hardware or the sd card is screwing you over. That MS update is unlikely to help you, do not wait for that. Try your phone for two weeks without a card, and if the problem doesn't go away, call Samsung. That's it, those are your only options. I won't even bill you for this tech support.

No, those debit/credit cards from the banks appear to be a US thing. Here in Canada the banks all of their preferred credit card provider (Visa, Mastercard, etc), but they are separate credit cards not attached to your bank account.

Now, I have several credit cards so I don't have any issues buying things off of the marketplace, but I would like to have the option to use my MS points that I share with me Live account.

I had issues with my Focus, I called ATT customer support and they sent me a new one after the issue didn't go away with a hard reset ("full wipe"). Haven't had an issue since (and that's with a 16gb micro SD card. You may have a dud like I did.

What are these marketplace bugs you all speak of? I get zero crashes, I do get hung up during the installation process now and then but I simply exit the marketplace then get right back in and I'm fine. Maybe it's a network thing, no issues here with my HD7 on t-mobile.

When you browse marketplace, if you keep browsing for extend period, it will crash and when you try to get back in it will keep "loading" and you have to reboot the phone.

Same thing with Zune app, on occasion it will crash (I notice usually while streaming), and you will have to do hard reboot. (Get same "loading" when you try to restart app).

Some people said it's defective battery, anyway, what is the warranty on the phone anyway, I have it since launch I am sure it's way out of 30 days window for exchange.

I don't think I can live with Focus without the SD card, 8gb is not going to cut it. I can't understand how windows phone 7 that touting Live game, Zune etc have spec of 8gb for storage that is not expandable. 16gb should be minimum at the least.

Just curious, if I remove the SD card, will it work on another Focus (or after wipe) or do I have to buy another one (since it can't be reformat unless you have a Nokia phone).

I have never had that happen. Any other HD7 owners out there care to comment?

The other focus should be able to format it and include it as part of it's storage.

The problem with most other devices and card readers is that they don't support the full SD card specification, including the "Secure" function that only WP7 and Symbian seem to understand.

I really hope they consider making Windows Phones too.

It would make a ton of sense for both nokia and microsoft (esp since the new ceo is a former ms guy). Nokia would get an instant jump into modern smartphone os wars with arguably the best mobile os out there currently and big sums of money from microsoft. microsoft would get their exclusive "brand" of phones they really need. If it were to happen it would probably be the closest we get to a microsoft produced phone.

I can't help but think its such a good idea it will never happen.

My first Nokia phone was the best phone I had for the longest time.

I do hope they consider WP7 but if I can see why they would go with "proven" OS instead of the new upstart.

I'd love a 4G Nokia WP7 phone.
I don't get the 4G hype. Isn't it what 3G/HSDPA was in 2005? A battery killer?

Anyway, I like the idea of a WP7 from Nokia. The higher end hardware is usually pretty good.

They have to show something at MWC. I hope they'll show up on Microsoft's MWC presentation.

Just call Att and they said phone is warranty for 1 year, so I am going to call and see if I can get a new phone.

The phone rebooting, while annoying doesn't bother me as much as the markeplace and zune crash because most of the time it just reset.

Ah, okay, but HSPA+ isn't 4G. But then again, nobody cares.
Actually the 4G community changed the definition to include HSPA+ recently, so 4G doesn't mean anything although technically it has never meant anything since the beginning.

I had my phone replaced after the 30 days without a warranty from ATT. They want you to remain an ATT customer so they'll fix your phone as long as you didn't soak it or drop it until it cracked.

This is what she wrote about Windows Phone 7:
Windows Phone 7

The new (reborn) kid on the block, Microsoft did a lot of things right when it launched the platform late last year. There are sleek and powerful handsets from a few manufacturers, the integration of Xbox Live is smart, and there's great support for game developers.

IUGO had two launch titles supported by Microsoft: Implode! and Zombie Attack! Second Wave. And our development team found the OS so delightful to work with, we've released an additional four titles ourselves. Early sales are modest but this is a marathon, not a sprint. We feel optimistic about Windows Phone 7, and hope to continue supporting it.

In the medium term, I hope to see Windows Phone 7 take the middle ground in between Apple and Android; balancing out Apple's restrictive, closed environment with Android free-for-all open platform.

Microsoft's focus on gaming makes us sparkle and giggle with joy. The notion of convergent gaming with the implementation of Xbox Live is an awesome strategic and forward-thinking move. IUGO has embraced Windows Phone 7, and hopes the platform thrives so we can too.

[IUGO rating: 7/10]

Other scores:
iOS 8/10
Android 4/10
BlackBerry 4/10

Nah just the shitty American telecom companies did that. So far at least in Canada we still call HSPA+ "3.5G" or "HSPA+" and LTE "4G" (only in Ottawa so far iirc).

How the heck does Blackberry tie Android?

So, dilemma time. I have the option of HD7 and Mozart right now. Both good phones, but no expandable memory. My main choice was the Focus though, dunno how long it'll take to launch here.

tl;dr - HD7 and Mozart on par with focus or not?

My HD 7's camera bit the dust. Took a photo and it just blinked off. Almost as if there was a lens cap on. The thing that sucks is that I have to pay $10 to get it repaired (shipping wtf?) Good thing I had the other one as a spare. When this one gets back I'm going to sell it, and save for the gen 2's that come out.

it's not you, shazam works about 50% of the time, it was like that with my blackberry. some tips; make sure there's zero background noise, and try to catch the chorus of the song.
