Xbox Live parties and voice chat? That would be sweet but I always worry when people dig deep and find these "features" that they're actually finding hooks for future updates. Here's hoping for the best.

A look at the international keyboards in WP7 Mango:

Pocketnow have published this brief look at the international keyboards in Windows Phone 7 Mango.

Windows Phone 7 Mango will support an additional 16 languages, and the most interesting demoed is the Chinese keyboard, which also includes a handwriting recognition version.

Still absent it appears is RTL languages unfortunately which should leave many readers in the middle east who enjoyed Windows Mobile handsets disappointed.

What's "Beluga"? Other than the whale, that is.
Beluga is a social network (app). For your phone.

What is Beluga?

Beluga offers a fun and simple mobile app and web service that enable instant and rich group messaging from your phone.

And they were acquired by Facebook.

So Ford is coming up with a WP7 app as a companion for their electric cars: http://bit.ly/lgZoIV (via wmpoweruser.com)

Is it wrong if I like the completely non metro UI?

I still hope the rumors of the onstar mylink app coming to wp7 is true as well..... been a while since that rumor.

I am actually looking at new cars right now and am heavily leaning towards the 2011/2012 camaro and I would be nice to know the app would be coming as well.

Where is Beluga? I could never commit to WP7 unless it has Beluga :(
Probably dead until Facebook integrates it into their app. I think development past the Facebook Connect addition was killed for iOS and Android. The BlackBerry app doesn't look like it'll ever see the light of day either.

Typical Facebook acquisition tale =[ A shame as it was the best-looking of the cross-platform group chat apps.

n9 camera specs r quite nice; from wmpoweruser.
Nokia’s official blog has written about the features of the camera in the Nokia N9, presumably the same one as will be showing up in the Nokia Sea Ray.

The camera features:

Industry-first imaging sensor which is FULLY optimised for BOTH 16:9 AND 4:3 images
Industry-leading Carl Zeiss optics
Super wide-angle optics – the widest in the industry. Up to as much as 60% more viewing area than other broadly comparable devices
f/2.2 aperture – largest ever in a mobile device
Extremely responsive, especially switching from stills to video and vice-versa and shot to shot
Touch AF for both video and stills
Full time continuous AF in BOTH video and stills plus face detection
HD video with stereo audio (still one of very few devices that provide high quality audio recording in video)
Seamless workflows optimised for speed or editing & sharing
Zoom in to images directly in the post capture view, edit and share all without leaving the camera – the most seamless mobile imaging experience
Non-destructive editing of images – go back to the original image at any time. Undo or redo edits even months later
New high power dual LED flash – 20% more powerful than our previous most powerful LED flash despite its compact size
Geo tagging with place names rather than just co-ordinates
AMBR – Automatic Motion Blur Reduction
Not forgetting the touch to share of images between handsets using NFC technology
Of note is that, unlike other 8 megapixel sensors, which sacrifice low light performance for pixel density, in the Nokia N9, which has a custom sensor made just for Nokia, the sensor is large, the aperture for the camera is very large, to capture more light and of course the focus is in fact very much on camera quality.

Of course Nokia innovated a lot in the camera software also, and it would be interesting to see how much of that carries over to their Windows Phone.

We all know the iPhone 5 will make the jump to 8 megapixel, and it will be great for once to have a camera on a Windows Phone that will not just have great specs, but is actually better in all aspects.

My sister asked me if there was a way to transfer word documents that are on your phone to a PC, if the pc has no internet connection? I dont know, I only know about skydrive, but yeah.

That Engadget preview puts Thurott to shame. Really glad to see Engadget put some effort into wp7.
It's way more in depth, but they make way more mistakes and jump to strange conclusions.

Case in point (emphasis my own):

Currently restricted to use by native WP7 apps only, Mango is opening the door for third-party apps to put dynamic updates directly on their Start menu tiles. We checked out The Weather Channel app and were able to see the temperature and weather condition; push notifications also worked on other apps we tried out such as Beezz (a Twitter client) and Send to WP7. Much like multitasking, this isn't running at full speed yet, but we hope that most apps in the Marketplace will use this new functionality.
Massive facepalm. The best person to review the changes in Mango is someone who clearly has not used a Windows Phone before.

ENGAAAAADGEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTT!!!

It's kinda funny that the old editor in chief of Engadget Mobile, Chris Ziegler, gave one of the more positive previews. I wonder if Mossberg bothered with a preview ...

e: Or course not :lol Someone else copied the reviewers guide for him.

Kik messenger is super well done.

However, the saga of no toast/livetiles is back!

I could handle rowi, tvshow, weather channel without a hitch. Add kik messenger to the bunch and it all went bonkers. Guess I'm gonna stop toast/livetile in one.. tvshow, I guess.

One thing the People Hub needs is the separation of Live contacts that have no other phone number (e.g. Internet friends) from those with a phone number. In addition, right now when you import your Live contacts - it imports them all, and if you delete from your phone, it also deletes them from your Live contact list seen on browsers.

There's a setting in the People section that only shows people who you already have in your contact list already (from SIM, etc). They still show up when you do a search for someone, but they won't be in your People list unless you choose to add them.

Does anyone know if the mango update will fix the problem of no audio being sent over bluetooth when watching a video? Trying to decide if I should wait for mango or see if I can trade this phone for something else.

I haven't tried this, but I've read about Mango including a ton of bluetooth fixes, including ones where no audio gets sent. I can't test it out, so I would personally wait and see if that's your main issue with the phone.

so this registry blocking... uhhh does that mean I can no longer change accent colors? Bastages!!

edit: anybody know?

You can change accent colors... But only to the ones MS provides.

Limiting apps to not access the registry and such is a good move, especially now that MS is providing a sanctioned method of jailbreaking your phone. You can argue that people should be able to do that if they jailbreak, but the reality is that it's all too easy for someone to make an app that breaks phones if you allow native access. Maybe someone will find another way, so if that really is important to you, pay attention to XDA since I'm sure people will be trying.

I'm glad this isn't just me. rowi isn't bad but I can't stand how the flixster app forces me to look at the hangover 2 guys.

They also seem to be under the impression that "Find my phone" is new in Mango. Oh well, I guess, 99.9% of that article is fantastic.

Angry Birds is up!

And Kik looks great. Could be a nice Beluga replacement if I ever decide to main with WP7 post mango.

Kik does have group chats, right?

Man, these Mango videos...

Look, I'm an iPhone whore and I think iOS is the best mobile operating system with all the best perks that come with it. But goddamn, Microsoft is coming so close.

concerning the office live portion.

can i work on a document that is currently in my skydrive that i had previously been typing up on a pc? synced.

yea. I'm gonna be pissed if I can no longer change the theme colors with my Accent Changer unlocked app

I hate the default theme tones on my focus. I don't change colors just tweak the shades

Edit:
seems Mango is keeping changed colors but may not be able to change again (until new unlock is developed)

Will you be able to get custom message tones with Mango too? As awesome as WP7 is it feels almost like a beta with Mango being the final release, can't wait 'till it comes out!

It's even more interesting, that you can do it with the desktop software, too. At MIX they only demoed it with a 3rd party app on the phone.

When, oh Microsoft, when are you going to show us the new desktop client?

I think you need to be a registered developer via AppHub, but I'm sure the guys at XDA are working on it.

How much does that cost? Also, are there any drawbacks? For example, would getting this beta release preclude my phone from getting the official Mango consumer update whenever it gets shipped out by MS?

Even if xda I'd put it out, I'd still be unsure to jump in, with the last Walshed phones, I'm still not sure if I'd play around like that again... tbh though, probably would.

Worst comes to worst, there will always be a reflash or a "DeWalshing" in the pipeline. I crave Mango, now.

The AppHub subscription is $99 per year. When the final version comes out, you have to install your NoDo backup the Zune client made for you, before you installed the beta, then you can install the Mango RTM.

And since you can only update one device per account, I guess I have to get my own AppHub account.

yeah I guess, but remember I had that problem that even with the unwalsh I couldn't update the phone.. I guess I'll jump in with Mango if it gets leaked early...

Because these are beta builds, I may just hold off until the RTM leaks. I'm not sure what has changed in this version of the beta, but all the previews talked about features that didn't work or hadn't been turned on yet. Or I could wait for impressions from anyone here who tries it out and see what they say is missing or not functional. :)
