That would be better if instead of the icons it had the big ass letters we all love. But it is still better than the current webapp, wich IMO only looks good on the iPad

I think it only looks good on the 3GS. I don't bother using it any more on the higher resolution displays. It's useful occasionally for some quick moving live events thread but daily usage and I find the full website good enough

Evilore and ckohler will (eventually) work on an official webapp. I just hope they go with a more neutral look. I know it started as an iPhone webapp, but by now, I'd guess the userbase is pretty nicely spread out.

If I'm not mistaken, GAF user, Juice, worked on a GAF app for the iOS store but got rejected.

I know you're talking about a webapp. I just remembered something.

fudge, IE broke on my HD7. not even a battery pull is restoring it. I'm using metro browser now, any ideas on how to get IE back? I'm sure connecting to my PC will fix it bit I won't be home for a while.

I'm pretty intrigued by the WP7 OS overall, and I think I might try one out when it comes time to upgrade my iPhone 4. I like the look of the nokia lumia 900, and also the HTC Titan II, but I'm leaning toward the lumia based on what I've seen so far.

For people who have switched over from iOS, is it easy to transfer music from iTunes onto WP7 phones? My number one use for my iPhone is to play my music, so if there would be problems transferring all my stuff over that'd be a deal breaker.

Also what's the deal with 16 gb fixed storage? That's a crazy small amount for this day in age...I have almost that in music alone

I switched from iOS to WP. I honestly enjoy the WP much more than the iPhone I had before.

As far as music goes I ended up going with the Zune Pass, it is excellent and if you are all about music definitely try it out. Spotify might work for you too, since it already is an app you can get on iOS and see if you like the whole subscription service thing.

In case that doesn't work out for you, don't worry. You will be happy to know that the Zune client flawlessly reads your iTunes library so everything will be just as you have it on your existing device.

I totally agree with the 16gb of storage being almost too small to be the LARGEST option. I have a first gen Focus, the only phone that has an easy to access SD card slot.

Do note that the Lumia headphone out is pretty bad. HP output is certainly clean enough, but audio is flat and lifeless. I own one, and I've had to use an uncomfortably bassy headphone (AKG Q460, which on a clean reference platform has muddy bass which obscures the mids a little) to EQ out the dull-sounding music.

I love my Lumia, and the Zune music app looks nice and all, but it lacks a few basic functions, like lack of a scrubber bar and no EQ. Compared to something like PowerAmp on Android, the Zune interface is woefully lacking. But hey it looks nice, and I can use my Zune Pass on it, so I'll bear with its deficiencies

Apollo is rumored to have official sd card support. I don't know why companies didn't keep the sd card option on second Gen phones. Don't advertise it, but give me a hidden flap or something to add a card. It worked fine on the focus.

I'm pretty sure i read that they are fixing the EQ along with the camera in a future patch.

The official webapp looks hideous. I can't go back to the ugly ass iPhone icons. Good thing you can eliminate the icons in the settings for a flatter look. Not quite metro, but better than ios.

This is the way it looks on my phone:

There's nothing "official" about the Secondapps GAF web app, it was made by a hard-working Gaffer in his own unpaid spare time. You should consider being more thankful that he has produced the thing and shared it with all Gaffers for free.

I actually browse the GAF desktop site on my phone and Touchpad, as it draws all the forum's pages correctly and at lightning speed for me on both devices, though I don't live in a Verizon LTE area and so sometimes loading image and GIF-heavy GAF threads gets kind of crazy over Verizon 3G.

The new upcoming changes to the webapp will make it official (with ads and all). I'm very thankful to ckohler but I do wish he'd make some UI changes.

Hm. Well, I'm by no means an audiophile. Is it noticeably worse than iPod/iPhone sound quality? I have Beats solo HD headphones.

Can anyone give an impression of the Titan line of phones? The screen on that one looks pretty nice, even if the pixel density isn't really there.

I wouldn't say worse, the music just sounds weak. The sad thing is that I hooked up a cheap Fiio amp to my phone and it made quite a significant difference, the amp in the phone is just weak as shit. Aren't Beats headphones known to be bass-heavy? That might work, but you'll definitely want to try your headphones on a display set first.

I can't help you with the Titan, but really, after the Lumia all the other WP7 phones are just cheap plasticky pieces of crap. The in-hand feel of the 800's polycarbonate body is marvelous, aside from the iPhone 4/4S no other phone rivals it in aesthetics and feel, IMHO.

I would swap out my Omnia7 in a beat for the 800. Pure sexy.

well, the web app thread has his initial colour redesign and some mockups from a few other members. iOS branding isn’t going to be part of the new revision (even though I still think it looks great, it looks great on one OS not on others)

I gotta say, that last mockup from Sentry is really nice. mostly grey header with a few other touches of gaf colours. seems very OS-neutral and it’s not garish, imo.

and as long as there’s an option to flip colours, it should look OK on OLED displays and WP7.

Sorry broski the guy didn't know what he was talking about. There isn't a MicroSD slot on the Lumia line.
Hmph :( Thankfully, he was also 'misinformed' about the 8GB of memory, and it's actually 16GB, which is the size of the iPod Touch I just left behind. I can deal with it now I don't have to use iTunes all the time; Zune software is magical.

Loving this phone now. Had to do a reset to change over the primary Hotmail accounts, but it's very easy to get everything back up and running.

Can I get Spotify on this without a subscription? Might try Zune for a while.

Fuck off, if you read my next post you'd know that I'm aware its not official (yet). I've been using it since the thread for it was first posted years ago and I've posted in that thread how grateful I am for it. That doesn't mean I can't dislike how the UI looks with the ios buttons.

Ckohler did like a more metro style mockup that ddanger posted, and even said it might be an option. Either way, the official version is going to look better and its perfectly ok to dislike the current look while appreciating the effort he has put in thus far.

fixed.

HTC build quality is great--I'd say it's near iPhone standards. Makes my Focus feel like a POS, to be honest. Going with a Lumia or Titan once I upgrade.

I previously owned a Sensation which had serious issues with dust getting under the screen. I'm not alone with this problem either, there's a 100-plus page thread on this one issue on the XDA forums that's still going today. I will still maintain that HTC does make good phones (I'm still keeping the Sensation around as a backup), but this fuckup kind of soured me on the company a little.

try zune out (they do give you a month free)... its far better integrated than any app could ever hope to be.... esp the services like bing audio which works amazingly well with a zunepass.

the storage really isn't a problem with a zunepass.... I keep about 2 gigs of my music on my phone and leverage zunepass for the rest. Once you start playing around with zunepass I don't think you will miss not having all your music locally. Of course there is also rumors with the next update to windows phone they will leverage skydrive for music as well.

my internet explorer is still broken. connecting to zune on my pc didn't fix things. i don't really want to do a phone restore as my last restore point was december. oh well, guess it's metro browser for now.

I went from iPhone OG > iPhone 3G > iPhone 4 > Playing around with LG Quantum and Samsung Focus while still using mostly my iPhone 4 > HTC Titan

The HTC Titan is hands down the best phone I've ever purchased. I do have some issues:

With a call attached to bluetooth 1/4 times when switching back to the handset the mic doesn't initialize.
My reception isn't bad but it's not exceptional.

Besides that the thing is absolutely amazing in almost every regard.

Shameless plug for Zune+WP7 follows!

About 2 weeks back I was at the mall, waiting for my wife to finish her manicure. So there I am sitting with a drink in hand and surfing with my iPad when this awfully familiar song gets played over the mall's speaker system. Try as I might, I couldn't quite remember what it was. Out came the Lumia. I hit the search button and call up the music search subfunction, and after about 5-7 seconds of listening it recognizes the song. So far so meh, this isn't anything Soundhound or Shazam can't already do, right? The cool thing is that the OS provides you a link that takes you to their music store, and since I had a zune sub I could just download the track, or the album it was from, right into my phone. Which I did. By the time the song had ended I had the entire album downloaded into my phone.

Incoming shill-ism: I do this all the time and can't overstate how much I love it. I was at one of my favorite food trailers over the weekend, and the trailer was SLAMMED. I know the guy who runs it and they were playing this great mix of varied artists, and he just didn't have the time to stop and tell me about the songs that were playing. Luckily, was able to use Bing Music (think I had to whip out Soundhound once or twice) to easily find the song and then download it. Use this a lot at parties, too. The whole "Zune experience" is a huge part of why I love my phone, tbh.

I'm also a big fan of the Zune Pass other than the experience being slightly neutered in Canada (not enough artist pics, no bio's etc.).

Shazam gives you a link directly to the iTunes music store to download it, no?

I'm strongly considering a Nokia 800 as my first smartphone purchase coming off an ipod touch...

My only hesitation is getting music from itunes on my mac onto the device, is there a painless solution?
