So i installed WinLAMP tonight cause i need to use it for a web application subject at university. it installs to c:\apache2 but when i visit localhost in my browser it goes to the localstart.asp page in the inetpub\wwwroot directory. The phpmyadmin directory is installed in the apache2 directory. How do i go about setting up all this phpmyadmin stuff once the WinLAMP installation is finished? How do i get localhost to reference the phpmyadmin directory?

Help :(

if it is going to localstart.asp, you are getting IIS, not apache (apache has no asp pre-processor by default). are you sure apache is even running?

uninstall (or shutdown) IIS and make sure apache is running.

how do i do that?

edit: nvm, i figure the STOP button in the IIS control panel turns it off but now i can't get apache to run. when i select the 'Apache Start' shortcut in Windows' Start menu i get an error message in the console saying
error (OS 2) The system cannot find the file specified. : No installed service named "Apache2"
it doesn't make sense though since WinLAMP apparently think it has installed it.

uninstall winlamp and reinstall it (with IIS turned off).

this is a bug in the apache install IIRC. it will proceed through all of installation, but if you already have a server on port 80 it won't install the apache service, even though install completes.
