I'm a software engineer. I work long hours. I just closed on the house we've been building for 6 months. I'm trying to get house finished, move into house, get everything in order while working long hours as mentioned above. I have many things in two different locations currently. Locations that are a hour apart. Hopefully I'll have internet access at the new house this week. I just got over the flu. I work long hours. I'm moving. I'm trying to finish a house.

Great games huka, shame we couldn't do a straight Golden Goal and had to do that 5 min game instead but those were seriously like real champion's league games between your PK in the first game, your two posts that you hit in the second, the heroics of Alan Geritolius Shearer, it was great.

you guys just let me know when the conf 2 champ is sorted; i'd love to see everyone play their games if that's possible (though hey shit happens) though whatever works best is fine (e.g. you guys don't have to worry about finishing the regular season if you don't want)

A tip for you Conference 2 guys. If you have a game where its tied in aggregate but you're not able to go to golden goal (like the 1-0 situation AL and I had), just have a quick 5 minute game with PKs and treat it like its the Golden Goal period.

It is all good and we got our matches in. I admit I was a little pissed when I didn't see you at first, but as long as someone gives me a good reason as to why they couldn't make it I am fine with it.

Good match Srider and thanks to everyon else for showing good sportsmanship throughout. Thanks also to Fifty, Astro, Sefskillz, and everyone else involved with the league.

While it was a ton of fun, I doubt I will participate in the 2nd edition as it is so hard to coordinate everyones's schedules. And also to me online just doesn't properly capture the entire WE experience. It might have been because of my mad ghetto Comcast connection, but the experience is just not the same for me online. There is too much delay that takes some of the options away from what you can do. Regardless though, everyone from GAF was totally awesome in this league and I hope to get some random matches with you guys whenever we can. And if we could ever arrange for a in person tournament somehow that would probably be the greatest thing ever.

I'll be joining the next league/cup since I should have enough free time over the summer. Hopefully we can recruit some new people to make up for those that are unfortunately dropping.

I just lost 2-0 to nhan83, the 11th ranked player. He was in 2nd before, according to himself. I actually outposessed (sic?) him 58-42 and outshot him 5-3. My shots were also great chances (as were his), so I still feel like I outplayed or matched him. It was a tight, intense game. Goes to show that after a certain threshold, its not too difficult to compete with the best. I don't think this guy was the best, though... he just played a whole lot. There are some players who have a 90% win percentage (compared to 65% for nhan83). I'd love to play them. They could probably teach me a thing or two.

And yea, thanks to sef. Its unfortunate timing. I wish he could have gotten his chance.

I haven't made up my mind whether or not I'll organize a season 2. Sef was a godsend this year in creating the website for us all, and because of that we have the framework to easily schedule and create a second season. The question I'm debating is one of interest.

Do people really give a shit? I only can name about 4-6 who I think do. If there is interest, by people who have some free time, and aren't going through major life changes, I'd certainly consider it. We'd of course need at least 8 people, but when this league was on, that is to say, when people were playing at a regular pace, it was tons of fun. The energy spent by myself and astro was not so much in the schedule creation, but rather in pushing people to complete their games. If people want to do it, it can be (somewhat easily) done.

I'm not sure if it was the interest that dropped or maybe just terrible timing with people getting busy right as they were needed to play for things to continue. I find it difficult to believe that people lost interest as soon as the playoffs began. That seems more like a coincidence than a cause.

I know if I would have had to play games these last couple weeks, I would have been screwed. I was always interested, but had exams and was super busy. Fortunately I had completed my schedule earlier than most and got a bye as well.

Also, I hope that people start doing recaps again. I've noticed that they're rarely done. Too cheesy?

Setting up the draft the way we would set up the Madden drafts might work out (which is the same way the nfl does it). Oh, and part of the reason for the league disorder was due to the size of the league (28 to start). A more intimate league and the use of aim in addition to the thread would help.

Anyway, I don't know if I'll be able to. It all depends on whether there's a new season of Madden. If it does, I'd be in three leagues and finals time is around the corner.

Good job to the commissioners. It must have been frustrating as hell, but you guys kept up with it best you could.

I agree that a reverse draft would be beneficial. The winner of the league's reward can be the sweet taste of victory alone.

I have a lot of experience with this series and take little pride in, with AC Milan, defeating beginners that have poor teams. It's never automatic, but definitely not fair.

As for new entries, they can get random picks. Or something.

The lag seemed to depend on the quality of your connection. Some GAFers apparently never had any problems going online. Unfortunately if you had an ass connection (like we and many others did) it definitely impacted the game negatively. Maybe this is something that Konami can fix in WE10.

P.S. I have two Comcast connections and both of them sucked massive balls. I tried being wired or going wireless with both of them and it never made any difference, the best I could hope for was a yellow connection. So in my limited experience Comcast sucks balls for online gaming.

Haha, yeah, just like the World Cup. Though the loss of interest/participation in Season 1 has been almost comical, I suggest you guys implement a betting system in Season 2 to avoid the inevitable interest plummet. He went up 3-0 and then I made it 3-1 late. The second goal was very regrettable: I pressed circle to clear, but Stam chipped it (???) to Drogba who quickly slipped it into the net. That one hurt. Third was pretty. Nice cross!

Second game I scored early, but he tied it up after my player dribbled it into his own f'ing net (bobbling it while running into the net, really bad). I scored another, but couldn't split it past Cech (who was crazy stellar in both games) late. 4-3 on aggregate.
