Palutena's Revolting Dinner Part 2

You just couldn't resist your usual shenanigans Shaft. Not even for Nintendo.

Basically Shaft needs to do a full Kid Icarus series like yesterday.

I think Nintendo and not Shaft are calling the shots on the type of content, considering some of the game's dialogue I've encountered. :p (I've only played 3 stages so far).

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I know someone who can pull this off.

Too bad they hate weeaboo shit, especially when it comes to lolis.

Most of the Jumps are like that, unfortunately, and maybe even shounens in general (though I can't say I've watched/read enough to claim that yet). It works in that it makes the protagonist feel awesome, and that seems to work the audience better, ultimately, but at the expense of everyone else, and cheapens the narrative, imo.

It’s pretty much a trope in itself, the way it normally works is the main character is off training somewhere else while his friends are being beat to a pulp for the main character to show up in the last minute with his brand spanking new powers to look all cool and shit(personally I myself I hate this shit), it was made popular by dragon ball but went to be overused as a cheap crouch by all amateur mangka in attempted to get the reader to like how cool their main hax character is(it actually worked for naruto who’s was losing popularity in the character polls in his own manga, shooting him back up there)

When One piece did kind use it, it differentiate itself by not doing it by the book with having
luffy traped/lost in a comically fashion only his character is able to get himself into and not having random training arcs or power level increases.

Just put two friends through Sword of the Stranger and they enjoyed it tremendously.

One of them is a casual watcher of Japanese animation and only really checks out the odd Ghibli movie and the other has never seen any anime before.

The lack of moe and tropes was great, since it made it pretty accessible to people who aren't familiar with such things.

One Piece 117 - 123

Again one of my favorite fights was forced to have one episode while less interesting characters spanned many episodes.
Zoro and Sanji really had so little
. Episode 122 and 123 were really the highlights.
Luffy was pretty epic for a moment there with the surprise arrival and near defeat of Croc, it seemed to be different than I remember and more brutal but wow. Robin's defeat too seemed way more intense then I thought. Croc is definitely the top antagonist in the series

one more disc.

its about appearance rather than age
which doesn't make it ok to be attracted to drawn renditions of children

Having just finished Death Note, I have to agree with the sentiments mentioned in a previous RTTP thread:

Lafiel said:
The writing is pretty damn terrible it relies to much on the characters acting stupid to make the main two characters seem intelligent in comparison. That said, it is a hilarious comedy series, assuming you aren't taking it seriously. The potato chip and tennis match are classic.:lol

I trudged through it, sustained by only be the praise that it's received on the internet. It's biggest flaw from the beginning was making it obvious that this was a duel between Light and L. It was predictable that secondary investigators like
Raye Penber were going to be defeated by Light, so any suspense went right out the window.

I think that's the problem I had with it, I tried to take it seriously when in reality, its weak point is the writing. I'm inclined to say that the writing goes through such lows that it's clear the target audience for this show isn't adults. If it was, we wouldn't have those subtle dialogue gems such as:

"But if you quit the police force, you'll be unemployed!"
(Episode 18)

Thanks, show. I was unsure what happened to people after they quit their job (I know the intent was to make everyone but the two leads and subsequently
Near
, bumbling idiots but the words they spewed brought down the show, hard). Also, thanks to the writers for telling me every thought of every character. It'd be a shame if the audience had to do some thinking on their own, so it was a good thing every scheme, detail and rule in this anime was being shoved down our throats a thousand times and in the most melodramatic and trite way possible. And that's pretty much what the show was. If you turn your brain off, it's okay. Watching overdramatized sequences of writing and potato chip eating was okay. DN was probably entertaining to watch during its weekly run, but marathoning it is just insult to the brain. And of course, Light Yagami gets the award for biggest douchebag ever. Speicifically in the character design department.

Of course not. It's an adaptation of a Shounen Jump manga; its target audience is preteen and teenage boys. That much is obvious when you watch it.

Moretsu Pirates - 12

All according to Keikkku.

Nothing much to say, a nice conclusion to the arc, but I'm really at a loss at what I'm expecting out of this show.

----------------

Ugh... I only made it to episode 8 of Death Note really tempted to charge through it, this is why I don't drop anything because I'm not really dropping them, I've just gone on a hiatus.

I need to go watch some Lupin or something upbeat to cheer up.

Did you watch the 2011 special yet? The opening is awesome, maybe that will cheer you up!

To be honest, I don't think I've ever watched any sad / depressing anime. I think the closest I got was possibly
the end of Bebop or Metropolis? (but I haven't seen that in years),
but I'm guessing that's nothing compared to a lot of other stuff.

I hope the new series is as wacky and cartoony as that is. That was nice.

Well, Jin-Roh is a good place to start! On top of packing an extreme emotional punch it's also very good.

The Light of El Cantare
So after realizing that I missed
Aokiji's introduction
after skipping Davy Back Fight, now I also learn that it's where Chopper's love of cotton candy originated? What other important secrets does that terrible arc hold?

HeartAttack PreCoor 2-4

I really like the spinny dildo tact techniques, but I hope they don't use the same one over and over. There needs to be more destruction. The combination one is a good start at least.

After seeing Kumojacky, I can definitely understand why the people involved in this are doing Saint Seiya. Give the guy a cloth and you'd think he was one of the saints.

Human Soccer....the only canonical sport in the whole thing iirc

Made Luffy think Hancock's beam was a Noro Noro beam. That's really all the plot "significance" that arc has.

Persona 4 24
Fear the Reaper
I won't lie, I wasn't really paying much attention to this episode. I did like
Adachi's
trolling of just wraping everywhere while doing exposition.

I look forward to the
True End
on Blu-Rays now. Hopefully, we'll also get everyone's
ultimate persona
as well. I mean surely, Yu has maxed all the social links by now.
