How am I suppose to take any of this seriously when it's delivered so forcefully in such a manner? Don't get me started on the very premise and delivery of this series since the beginning. It's actually maddening that I predicted this to happen because every time we're in Moera, the threatening mood is totally not there despite the frail attempts at one. I thought maybe it was just my imagination, they were just using Moera to resolve real world shit, and I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this plot was purely lighthearted wish-fulfillment, yet the drama this episode says otherwise to my dismay...

Anyone watched Macross Zero or Frontier? I'd like to hear some impressions about them.

I have watched both. I don't know how familiar you are with the Macross franchise, but they put different spins on the same core theme - love, singing and transforming plane robots.

Macross Zero is like the Arjuna version of Macross - indeed, Arjuna plays on a TV set in one of the episodes. Your enjoyment will depend on your fondness for the original Macross (as this is a prequel and fills in backstory on one of the main characters of the original show) and your tolerance for slightly wanky spiritualism.

Macross Frontier, in the meanwhile, is super-mainstream - all flash and J-pop, with a rather convoluted and possibly ridiculous plot and a large varied cast of characters to appeal to all and sundry. Definitely "brain off" viewing, but definitely not without its highlights, particularly any sequences to do with singing.

Both are technically sound, although if you dislike CG both make heavy use of it.

I enjoyed both, although it's not cool to admit that for either show.

I guess that's because that would be acknowledging the curse exists. I mean obviously they do anyway since they talk about it amongst each other countermeasure wise. But anytime one of them goes into more detail they seem to die so I guess it's not a risk to be taken.

Based on the review here, I would say it sounds like as far as actual on-disc content goes, it's not short of anything, and has quite a number of extras features.

Supposedly, only females can pilot robots... except for AO, who is special.

The first new character shown is a 16 year old girl from France called Flair. She's the leader of Team Piped Piper, and sees Ao as a rival. The second new character is a 15 year old girl from America called Elena. She's a geek girl and little bit of a klutz, also a member of Team Piped Piper.

Basically what has already been said. I enjoyed Frontier, and though the CG was decent/passable (though it was shitty in the first movie to the point that I saw aliasing on one of the models). If anything, it features a full soundtrack, including the pop songs, by Yoko Kanno, and though it kinda gets more cheesy as it goes on, I wouldn't say it's something to avoid at all. It was fun to watch, and I enjoyed the speed and scope of the space battles just as much as I enjoyed the music.

Also, I was on team Ranka.

This all being said, if you can/want to just watch the movies for Frontier, I found them to have a much better second half of the show than the TV anime did, and the first one isn't all that bad.

Well, the weirdest part about this entire thing is that:

a) This takes place in 2025 AD on Earth, 13 years in the future from now. So the parts about there being real world countries and stuff makes sense.

b) This is also supposed to be an official sequel to the E7 TV series, and Ao is the son of Eureka and Renton. Nirvash "recognizes" Ao as "Eureka".

A and B doesn't add up in any way. It's illogical and nonsensical. Something is really fucked up about this.

The Ghost in the Shell TV series inherited many aspects from Director Oshii. I didn't try to distinguish myself from Director Oshii, Instead, I totally tried to copy him.

By nature, I like emulating others. I try to be like some that's well admired. If I was a fan of some band, I'd be copying everything they do, even their clothes and hairstyles. I'm that kind of person.

Thank you based harem God we have gotten out from under the weight of the snail arc.

I legitimately enjoyed this episode. Someone new was introduced, and their background was explored through entertaining interaction with other people. The visual cuts in each conversation serve to highlight the emotional states of the characters, and the writing feels pretty breezy. And it ends with a burst of actual animation, and some real mystery.

Where the hell was this show? Why did they make me sit through some inferior knockoff for three episodes? The pacing is so much better here than what I previously experienced.

On an unrelated note, there's a throwaway gag at the end of episode 2 where it is revealed that
