ANNcast Best of the 2000's Part Two
I only came equipped to deal with bad anime opinions. I was not prepared for people to say The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas is shallow because it is an adventure story, that it was pulp, or that Gankutsuou is deeper than the novel ever was.
Is he? lol.
Perhaps I'm secretly tsundere for it.
If you think that's funny, I'm pretty sure at one point I was number two.
Wandering Son
Mouryou no Hako
Hataraki Man
Windy Tales
I was thinking of adding one more for a final weekday, but with sonicmj1 really busy, four sounds good.
These are all the titles mentioned. I am not going to try and push anyone to watch one particular title but I thought it might be helpful if I write a brief synopsis for each one so that you can see if it's the kind of thing you might be interested in watching.I'm going to watch Trepeze and Mononoke as promised. I dunno if anyone is going to watch them with me. I haven't decided when I'll start yet though.
What is Hourou Musuko about?
Oh, you know, it's your simple tale of a young boy and a young girl as they try to make their way through grade school. They experience those issues we've all dealt with as a child: making friends, being bullied, learning how the world works, wanting to be the opposite sex of what you were born. You know, the basics.
Wait... what?
Okay, okay. Hourou Musuko is the story of two main characters: Shuuichi Nitori (aka "Nitorin") and Yoshino Takatsuki (aka "Takatsuki-kun"). Nitorin was born a boy, but feels in his heart that he was meant to be a girl. Meanwhile, Takatsuki-kun was born a girl, but runs away from the world of sugar and spice due to identifying more with being a boy. Figuring out who you really are as a child is hard enough; immensely more so, as I'm sure you can imagine, when you aren't even sure of your very own gender.
Sooo... this is another one of those boys-in-dresses anime then?
Lord no! In fact, that's one of the qualities that makes Hourou Musuko as engrossing and endearing of a story as it ends up being. In a medium (anime and manga) going through a fetish for "otokonoko" that recently got kicked into overdrive, this is a total breath of fresh air.
Windy tales was pretty incredible, first series I've seen in a while that genuinely impressed me in every aspect - favorite episodes are probably 3, 5, 11, 12 and 10. But every episode had it's moments.
I love how down-to-earth and realistic the character interactions were despite the unusual art, it kind of reminded of ghibli in how grounded it was and never resorted to any anime-ish cliches.
The mood and atmosphere was also incredibly well-done, there were also a good amount of "MONO NO AWARE" moments that were so amazing and well-executed.;_;
It's a shame how overlooked this series is, anyone who hasn't seen it already, should definitely check it out!
So anyway is AChannel one of those 4koma shows? It looked really cute and was cheap so I bought it.
Any fans here?
Tokyo Encounter 18
This week's guest is Swerita Tea and Throat Medicine.
First they played with the least stealthy ninjas yet in Ninja Commando where they use the ninja art of summoning black holes. Next was Ahh! The Baseball Life To the Top! where all childhood progress happens below the waist. And finally it was Enterbrain Collection+ Amagami where we saw how Sugita gets his kicks and how to talk to girls about the health benefits of not wearing underwear.
Because Yuru Yuri is a bad show.

He switched places with the other guy who had that avatar!Jex. What have you done to your beautiful avatar?

You forgot the GIANT BOX:
It's so weird that Sugita basically knows all the girls. Maybe that Love Plus episode of Gintama wasn't that far off from reality! lol
I was going to use the giant box but there were more pressing images to use in my self imposed 4 images limit.
For what it's worth, I did a quick bit of research and determined that the show he's referring to might be Sket Dance, where he plays Switch and Sakura Tange is the klutzy teacher.Well... you missed the best part! This has got to be wahjah, right? lol
I suppose it's the Japanese voice actor equivalent of working with a porn star from a porn film you watched. lol

That makes sense, since this was recent-ish. It's still funny to think about that scenario. For what it's worth, I did a quick bit of research and determined that the show he's referring to is most likely Sket Dance, where he plays Switch and Sakura Tange is the klutzy teacher.
To help pass the time a number of us will be watching 'backlog' titles - anime series that aired sometime ago but that we missed watching at the time.
...
It was a giant art book, I think. They never unboxed it. lolLol that's bigger than OG PSX cases. The future is surely games packed in Dakimakuras.
It's a different take on the celebrity-playing-video-games thing. Arino is still KAICHOU but these guys are hilarious because they tapped into it by being a part of the nerd industry.I'll be sure to check this show out some time.
You aren't kidding. I just got to theI can only cap so much of this amazing episode!
IIRC they were just talking about how Yukana (who voices Ai in Amagami) is with Sigma Seven, the same agency as Yuichi Nakamura, and that's how he got the giant box. I haven't watched the episode recently though so I could be wrong. That makes sense, since this was recent-ish. It's still funny to think about that scenario.
And you know, don't all these games have porn versions on PC anyway? That must be super awkward, especially if you bring it up while working. lol
What I didn't know was that all the girls from Amagami seem to be apparently from the same agency (if these subs are right anyway). I suppose it makes sense just to cast from the same pool of controlled actors and write up standard contracts that way.
I think it is. I watched it and liked it, but it's really, really slow. I'm not even sure how I finished it, because I usually can't handle slow shows.
Despite how, well, dire things appear there's usually one show that looked a bit iffy that actually turns out to be pretty good. I, personally, don't discover those shows because that would require subjecting myself to a number of terrible shows in the hopes of stumbling across a good one. However there are plenty of others in this thread who are more than happy to the canary in the coal mine, if you will. Let them do their work and pay close attention to their findings.
Yeah, but when one of the other girls came up, Sugita said something like "You have a lot of talented people at your agency" or something.IIRC they were just talking about how Yukana (who voices Ai in Amagami) is with Sigma Seven, the same agency as Yuichi Nakamura, and that's how he got the giant box. I haven't watched the episode recently though.

Wandering Son was so good. Wish I could watch it again for the first time.

Or maybe that was when Ai came up. I don't remember. lol
Half and half. They also played Love Plus before, but they play a wide assortment of games. Just look for my old posts, I usually bolded the games they played each episode.
I remember dakkumauji mentioning that they played Love Plus.
Excellent, thanks
I watched the first episode and while it was pretty cool, I really wish they would stop with the laugh tracks.
Well since it seem everyone is treating this as backlog season maybe I should tackle some of the shows I've bookmarked. Though looking at the list for once I've noticed some bad shows on there. Hmmm...
I'll deff. watch Mouryou no Hako, Windy Tales and Hataraki Man.
I want to say that one of those girls is from that fake TWGOK game, but I'm not sure.
Now read the manga.Nausicaa of The Valley of The Wind
One of the most beautifully crafted worlds I have seen in a animated film. The animation was masterful and the film score was amazing. This is one I will remember for a very long time.
Well I'm so far behind on anime that basically my backlog is anything before 2010. I know there are some must see shows that I've never seen that I should take the time to watch.Lol, I'm not treating this season as backlog season. There are way too many shows with cute girls in them for me to do that. I just want to watch Windy Tales.
Did you check out the full versions of episodes 10 & 11?Wandering Son was so good. Wish I could watch it again for the first time.
The actual list of their top 5s hasn't been posted yet. Do you remember what any of them were? lolANNcast Best of the 2000's Part Two

Fate/Zero:
Best Family Man - Kiritsugu Emiya
A thousand times this! Now read the manga.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT?
HOW COULD WE ALL FORGET?
I want to say that one of those girls is from that fake TWGOK game, but I'm not sure.
Also, I can't believe that Sugita is a Kaoru fan. Seduced by the sex hair. lol
