How so? I thought it was fairly weak relative to the hype surrounding it, and taking into account Oda's involvement. Baron for me was much better structured, animated and directed, and had a much stronger emotional climax as well.
I'll agree that relative to hype surrounding it, Baron was better. Still though, as a very big One Piece fan, I can't remain completely unbiased about a massive far cry from everything about the franchise. As an experiment, Baron was a damn interesting movie, but it was also jarring as hell.
While the fights themselves disappointed me in Strong World, the entire first half of Baron did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe if I were to watch it again I'd have a different opinion, but the build up just wasn't there imo even if the payoff was really something else.
I'd say Strong World is like a condensed arc that makes the lore of the world more interesting, while Baron is an irrelevant side story that tried to be as different as it could from the source material. As I generally would prefer the former, it's why my OP movie ratings are something like Strong World>Dead End Adventure> Baron Omatsuri.
