Witcher 3 Collector's Edition getting exclusive physical content on XB1 [CDP Comment]

I may get the Collectors edition on Xbone for all the physical bonuses, but actually just play the game on the PC, considering you can get it on PC for $18.00. I was always disappointed I never got The Witcher 2 physical stuff and won't miss out this time.

It means I'm watching, enjoying a smoke, and deciding how much of a graveyard I'm going to turn this thread into.

I'm frankly a little tired of the whining and wailing in every MS related thread. I am not alone in this on the moderation team. People are not required to like or purchase anything from MS, but they are required to not act like jerks in every single MS news thread.

I've been focused on OT for awhile, but it seems clear I need to spend some more time on the gaming side.

Thank you

I'd rather be alone forever. My thing is my current girlfriend doesn't mind video games and will pick up a joystick occasionally but she doesn't feel... The way I feel about it. Wouldn't get jokes that are throwbacks to Games.. Kinda bothers me.

I do not like how this was done, but i have no intention of cancelling my pc CE that would just be silly and talk of such things is crazy, i just hope there are no other surprises of this sort to be announced so late.

yeah just wondering where is the Destiny, Diablo 3, and Watch Dogs PS4's exclusive content outrage official thread?

You're going to be short on sleep.

I hope people realize that this is not the first time CDPR has given a certain CE more goodies over another. The retail edition tracking for The Witcher 1 is nightmarish:

I believe there may have been something similar for The Witcher 2, but I am unable to find an easily accessible post somewhere that displays this so for now let's assume only The Witcher 1 had physical content division.

I can certainly understand people being upset. I myself would hate to see CDPR start doing worse. But this is not an unprecedented move and, as someone else pointed out here, they may offer that card game on the web store later on. Sucks, but not the end of the world.

quoting myself since I got BotP'd for users with 50 posts per page.

Well... I was prepared to blow a gasket at CDProjekt allowing exclusive content, but then I noticed the "physical" aspect of it. So I guess it's ok - especially if Gwent is in all versions of the game already!

The red miasma is probably no good, either.

Heading to the bathroom... :)

Never really understood the whole Collector's Edition stuff anyway. Calling it Collector's Edition is just to sell things and make money; partnering with a large organisation with a marketing budget just the same.

This is what I'm thinking. They can't expect people to pay the same price when one ha more content, can they?

This has been happening for years now with preorder bonuses. When you preorder at certain retailers you get physical trinkets and in game items for free. Some Assassins Creed games also had extra content on Playstation platforms and they were at the same price.

I don't see how this is much different that retailers exclusive stuff.

I think the salty responses are entertaining, but then again I don't have to be a mod. The Sunset Overdrive threads are my favorite, as it's obvious that it's a game that a lot of people want to play and can't, so it's easier to say it'll bomb and then come to PS4.

Back ot, these bonuses won't effect the game, so if for whatever reason I can't get the Xbone CE, I'll still have an amazing game with a ton of value.

If it makes you feel any better, my wife will only play World of Warcraft. She pretty much hates every other game except most of the Survival Horror genre, which she'll just watch me play. I did date a girl 10 years ago or so that hated gaming with a passion and would bitch anytime I played Fable.

Salty drive by posts are not entertaining.

They are when there is a mod in the thread. ;P

Given how much they support their games with free content post release, I think they deserve a pass on this "transgression". I'll take what they did with Enhanced Editions of the previous Witcher games over a cloth.

Those are all PC versions though. With the situation here it's the XBO version having more content over the PS4 and PC version.

You better be loaded on coffee

It's gonna be a long day

We're at the point now where extra trinkets that don't mean jack shit are being placed on pedestals of importance. The game is literally untouched, and yet people somehow can muster anger and venom.

People say that every gen is similar at the beginning, but I don't buy that. This gen has been absolutely venomous when it comes to discourse. I can already tell where a thread is heading based on the title and number of pages. And that doesn't feel good.

lol I wonder if Microsoft has seen me running around everywhere trying to pre-order Witcher 3 Collectors Edition (can't find in Canada).

Whatever, not in game content and the only reason I want the collectors edition is to support CDPR. PC all the way.

This is great news for Xbox One owners. They have the "exclusive" option to purchase a far more expensive SKU that comes with physical content. More power to the developer and Microsoft for this partnership that brings value to the console.

*Looks at PS4*

The game is coming to major platforms outside of Xbox One. If anyone doesn't like it then don't buy this exclusive SKU. If anyone wants to buy this SKU then pay for an Xbox One and this version of the game.

No big deal but rather baffling to see this kind of exclusive content. At least it's not in game content and as long as I can get that kind of stuff on PC then I'm good to go.

Hear, hear! But it is also the source of so much entertainment.

Yes, and that WAS in-game content, so arguably worse. Didn't see many having the same reactions then.
People probably don't take Ubisoft exclusive content too seriously, though it kind of lame to see that happen either way unless it's something like getting Master Chief outfits or anything. Then yeah, I'd never expect to get that on PlayStation short of the sort of thing that happened with SEGA repeating.

Anyways this is mildly disappointing but not too serious of an issue. Would be nice to be at least XB1/PC exclusive so the PC fans get it.

I get why they made this call and I would have done the same. However when you go on about telling the world how you are the good guy then obviously people are at some point going to start believing that. Which in turn means people are going to have different expectations. That's why I wish they would think through moves like this. Why do people buy Collector's Editions? Because they're nuts for getting everything related to that game. When one platform has more stuff than others then of course it's easy to become a little sour.

Ya that would be odd. I am not saying it wouldn't be possible but I can't think of a thing my wife HATES that I like or do. I mean and especially an entire hobby. That would be rough as fuck.

Back on track this is pretty cool actually and not a bad addition.

I can't even keep track of Ubisoft content for games, that Watchdogs 15 versions or whatever was non-sense.

I can't believe that some people on GAF - full of supposed gaming veterans - are acting outraged about exclusivity. Especially about stuff like cloth maps in collector's editions.

Shit is getting ridiculous.

Yeah. This is basically the stuff that piles up in gaming journalists' closets and garages until they need space and sell it all on eBay.

That's cool. Would have been even better if they gave some Witcher 3 Poker Cards though. Plastic one's mind. Hate playing with paper or card.

Yeah. This is basically the stuff that piles up in gaming journalists' closets and garages until they need space and sell it all on eBay.

Yeah but obviously there are people that want exactly that because publishers keep making collector's editions.

I wouldn't categorize swag given to game journalists with collector's editions.

The problem here is that they are constantly shifting their position, abandoning their past promises. If this trend continues, they won't be "one of the least exploitative companies in the industry" much longer.

Did you read statement, the guy basically says that they need to do this stuff to sustain the company. So they give away some crummy cards for a co-marketing deal OR they cease to exist as a company.

Which do you prefer?

It's not cool what they are doing but it's not the end of the world. I'm keeping my GOG pre-order... and my PS4 CE pre-order... and my PC CE pre-order... and I'm definitely keeping my Xbox One CE pre-order.

Yeah. This is basically the stuff that piles up in gaming journalists' closets and garages until they need space and sell it all on eBay.

Yeah most this is only for the hardest core fans and even then, it just sits. I have a place at work for my figurines, and that's about it.

To be fair, he said they do things like this for their partners so that they have exposure. More or less, it sounds like they are doing this to get some free advertising from MSFT.

I don't know the specifics of their financial health but I find it hard to believe CDP would cease to exist without these deals.
