Witcher 3: Official Gameplay Trailer

Uh? There are other women besides these two, nothing in the trailer indicates it is them.

Look at their clothes!

This game shits on a lot of favorites around here *ahem* Bloodborne, Skyrim. The only RPG that can take it's mantle is Dragon's Dogma 2. It's all about control for me. Haven't played Bloodborne, but its combat system is not as robust as TW 2/3 or DD. It's the only thing that prevents BB from being a game I play and worship.

Why are they different? You know they will clash for best RPG at the end of the year =D
They definitely play different. TW is more accessible than BB though. I am not built for BB...I think. I just don't want to get halfway through that game and then drop it because I am stuck. Can't "git gud" at this age.

It's just my opinion mann. I've seen enough of BB to know that it's combat would feel lethargic to what I've played on TW2. Forget my inferior opinion since I haven't played BB and base my opinion on in-depth observation. How about those who have played BB and TW2. Any thoughts on the combat? It is you who I (we) want to hear from. People seem afraid to speak up on these two titles. They don't want to pit them against each other.

Oh stop that the "I haven't played" line. You doubt CD Project Red? You doubt Naughty Dogg (Uncharted 4), Batman Arkham Knight (WB), Zelda (Nintendo), Bloodborne (From). Do you not have eyes? Do you not see what I (we) see. This game is in beast mode.

This is what I am getting at in these forums. Thanks for the feedback by the way, but why say the battle system is not the same. We need to regard the fact that both are 3rd person RPGs. In your opinion, which combat felt better? I just think TW combat is more visceral. There is an odd hit detection on the From games that I've seen in playthroughs. Maybe it's just me.

I remember Valve releasing a first-person RPG (forgot the name), and I felt the combat was a lot more fun than that on Skyrim.

Yea. I loved that game. To stab an Orc through his head as opposed to the physics in Skyrim. That is how I am debating TW and BB. I guess I am not making a good case explaining.

But everyone here knows these two games will compete for RPG of the year. The inevitable vs thread will arrive sooner (summer), rather than later. I just think TW3 looks like it will be in a different league than most games this year. I like Batman, Zelda, GOW and Uncharted more, but I am not going to front on what CD Project Red is doing with this game. I am speechless. Guess I am just surprised this game is not being hyped like BB was before launch. Maybe peeps are skeptical to jump on a series at the end of it's trilogy. Most concerns are about missing on the story and lore.

Nice explanation. BB lacks diversity in combat although I agree it looks truer to the form. Now I understand where you and others are coming from. I prefer the Batman, GoW, Bayonetta type combat myself though. A lot more fun and serviceable without having to break a sweat constantly.

Gotta hype TW3 brah. This trailer is a world beater, yet no love at the Gaf. Definitely hyperbole much, but u r too serious to understand and have any fun.

yoplay, I know you're enraptured in the hype and feel the desire to denigrate other games to make the new game look better, but there's very little to compare outside of combat.

These are some very silly posts especially because you haven't played Bloodborne and yet are making these presumptious claims. Not to mention this weird persecution complex towards Witcher 3 hype. No one is afraid to compare these games, but it's just there are very little things to compare on even if they're both RPGs (although Bloodborne isn't as much of one compared to Souls games) that it doesn't make for easy comparisons. The "inevitable" VS thread will be laughed at.

You have to be on full attention in every combat scenario of Bloodborne, nearly every single enemy can kill you if you're not careful much like Ninja Gaiden or retro 2D action games like Castlevania but in Witcher, not every combat scenario is life-or-death. The sense of achievement is much higher in a victory in Bloodborne because you have to break a sweat. They're "fun" in different ways. Unlike previous Souls games, Bloodborne is much more satisfying on enemy hit reactions so it feels more visceral and going by Witcher 3 footage, the dismemberment and hit reactions seems to be satisfying too so that's about the one comparison you can easily make. I don't think anything in Witcher 3 will compare to the satisfaction of stealth kills or getting the timing right on a stagger, though.

Bloodborne is quite diverse in combat because of the different weapons and their transforming modes (gun + weapon, dual hand, going dual in the middle of an attack combo). It's much more comparable to character action games' (Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry) weapon variety. Like, there's a rifle spear that on one hand acts like an axe but in dual acts as a spear and also a gun. There are a lot of unique weapons with their own attack animations, so sometimes a cane that turns into a Castlevania-like whip is great at crowd control but sometimes you need a thrusting weapon if you're in corridors where swinging around would hit the walls rather than the enemy. There is a much reduced use of magic like in previous Souls games or Witcher games, but during the combat of Bloodborne you won't have time to do things like traps or throw elemental powers. Witcher games' weapons are just swords, and you'll usually be using one sword at a time cause one is just for humans and one is just for monsters so you can't use different weapons for various combat situations like Bloodborne.

The world design is totally different so it's hard to compare that aspect. There isn't a focus on varied quests or NPC reactions or dialogue choices in Bloodborne. Bloodborne is more about exploring the world and finding surprises at every turn while Witcher 3 probably won't be as tense at every minute or as unpredictable. The enemies are often the wonder in Bloodborne rather than the environs will probably be in Witcher 3, where you're not quite sure even what they are or how they'll attack you.

You don't do much running around in Bloodborne, that'd be foolish but you'll definitely do in Witcher 3 because it's an open world. There are no minigames to pass the time or other leisurely activities in Bloodborne cause you're never just chilling in that game. Despite both games being classified as RPGs, there's a lot more differences than similarities to easily compare the two.

I had some free time this morning, so I have overlaid some screen grabs from the latest official gameplay trailer, on to the world map, with view cones to indicate which direction they are looking...

It is just quite scary to see how big the world is. I hope it is not just present to fill the length but actually has some pretty meaningful stuff to see. Easter Eggs perhaps? Wonderful quests as a reward for the player's exploration?

thanks KiDdYoNe, might be of use someday. Although being a pre-order of the game AND season pass, and there being a month still to go, I can see them just flat out cancelling all orders.

It's obviously price mistake, they have these all over the world. Few days back they had free CoD: AW and FC4 at Russian store at like 3 AM. Now this. I don't know, something's happening at Playstation, why not to try making something out of it. If they're cancel it — it's just 5 minutes of your life. If not, well then you've made yourself a free game for the may :)

I found this for the 1st one.

do not know if this is good. Have not played them either. Maybe someone cant tell here ?

I was just joking. :P
So, what is it, price mistake?
Other region PSN won't be able to buy it, right?

Read the story recap on their website, or watch this IGN video.

This is good one for Witcher 1 if want short and to the point, also official, recap; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnvT-23ylPk

I don't know any good ones for Witcher 2.

Thanks! I will check those out.

Notice the yellow sentence. No pricing error, just a ticket that gets you 10% off when the game releases.

Is there a way to verify and download this to my PS4 on my newly made account? Also I hope there is no difference in content with the English/Chinese/Korean version compared to the Western version.

You can add your new HK profile to your PS4 through console itself, make this PS4 that accounts primary console. Then go to "Power" menu and swap profile to new HK one.

I doubt you can download anything yet, but you should be able to see from console browsed store if game is purchased or not.

Yup just looked and it says purchased. Any worries on if the English/Chinese/Korean (Eastern) version will have certain content removed from the Western version or is it all just language based?

I wouldn't be too worried about content being different between West and East, CDPR isn't big on censoring their creations for different regions of the world. They had to censor W1 little bit for initial US release, but even then patched censored content back into that version afaik.

Done and bought : )
I also got the purchase confirmation email.

Now how to get Sony to honor this price mistake ? They'll probably just cancel our orders...

I hate to be that guy, but I hope Sony cancels any orders that take advantage of this if it's a mistake. CDPR deserves all the sales they earn.

Whether or not it's true, I'm prepping myself to order a $50 PSN card to buy The Witcher 3 digitally. Was going to consider getting the season pass for the two expansion to get 10% off but I can just hold off and save myself a few bucks now and buy stuff I need.

Maybe the wrong place to ask so apologies if so:

i don't have a whole heap of time to play games, so I'm thinking of choosing either The Witcher 3 or Elder Scrolls Online when they are released (ps4).

Struggling to decide which one :(.

The only thing that is putting me off the witcher is that i haven't played either of the other two, which I'm not sure if it will hamper my overall experience.

tough choice :(

One of the CDPR developers said on Twitter that it will be possible to import my choices from The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360. How will that work?
