Witcher 3: Official Gameplay Trailer

I'm hard. This game looks like it could be incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed The Witcher II, and this looks like it improved upon just about every aspect. Hopefully it looks decent on PS4.

On the horse topic, are there multiple horses you can get? I believe I saw videos of a brown one and a black one. Going to hunt the rare white one obviously /s

I thought something like similar...."like really? thats it?"

That's his home base in the distance, home of all the Witchers - Kaer Morhen. I doubt it will be customisable though. There weren't any homes to buy and equip as you see fit in the previous games and I don't think they mentioned such a feature appearing in Wild Hunt.

Haven't they said that Kaer Morhen and it's surroundings is one of the smallar "side locations" that you visit temporarily as part of the story? It also wouldn't make sense that it was part of the regular map since the game takes place around Novigrad, which is in the southwestern part of Redania, and Kaer Morhen is as far northeast as you can go in Kaedwen. I highly doubt that map is that big.

Yes, it is a seperate region but I believe they said you'll be able to return to it.

It's a home base where witchers often spend part of the winter. It features in the tutorial but afterwards you'll be able to return to it. Also read somewhere the area around Kaer Morhen is quite big.

Yeah the guy from Gamestar who has played two days straight said it's part of 4-6 smaller areas (depending on your choices) containing around 5-6 hours of gameplay each.

Given the artwork we have seen earlier I do believe that is indeed Kaer Morhen and it's surroundings. Whether we could return there, I've no clue but those posts above give me hope. Locking it out after prologue seems like a waste of time put into creating it.

It's a debugger that allows you to modify any running program in memory. It's mostly used for creating cheats (hence the name, Cheat Engine).

I'll be using it to create a free camera for the game, but you can use it for a myriad of other things as well. Like... giving yourself infinite carry capacity.

By "free camera" do you mean one that can fly around the environments instead of being fixed behind Geralt? Would you be using that for screenshots?

Anyway, I'm just curious what you mean because one of my only complaints about what we've seen of the game is how far back from Geralt the camera is during exploration. Personally --and I say 'personally' because I know it is a very subjective thing-- I liked the camera position in The Witcher 2 better. I do like the camera to pull back during combat to give you a better view of your opponents and environment, but during exploration I think the more distant camera looks worse and lessens my connection to Geralt and the world.

But who knows?...maybe once I play it I'll end up liking the camera position. Right now, though, I don't like the way it looks and I'm hoping for a mod that will allow me to place it a little closer. Perhaps somewhere between the distance found in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3.

I actually don't like how Geralt is center frame in the footage. I prefer open world titles like these to have an offset character position during exploration. Just looks better.

A clunkier Arkham Batman system.

I don't see it that way at all. If anything, it has more in common with the Souls-type games. Combat in the Witcher 2 is all about dodging, controlling distances, parrying, managing vigor levels, timing attacks, and knowing when to use signs. On the harder difficulty levels it's actually quite tactical. You have to think and strategize or you're dead.

I'm not a big fan of the Batman/Shadow of Mordor-type systems. They're ok for me, but I feel those systems are too automated and easy. It almost feels like the game is playing itself sometimes.

Looks cool but I like the style of gameplay trailer. IMO all vidya game trailers should have a version like this. I remember Red Dead Redemption had one too. Just explain and show the game. No need to dazzle us. Let the game do that.

I know tv trailers have to do one thing, but internets ones don't.

I wasn't following RDR at all due to not liking Westerns, and then I saw those trailers you mentioned. They completely sold me on the game and I ended up buying it day 1.

That gif (graphics) looks so majestic. I'm definitely gonna play Final Fantasy X's "Wandering Flame" for the background music, when Geralt rides on a horse, through the countryside.

Are people getting the digital or physical copy?

I'm debating on buying the digital with expansion and just enjoy the game when I want to, but I'm worried if the world will become boring to me. I'm so glad I did not buy Dragon Age digitally, sold that game 2 weeks after I got it--and I see a lot of people calling Witcher 3 similar to Dragon Age

I'm doing physical, but only because I get $12 off, a $10 rewards certificate and a steelbook from Best Buy.

wait, how would that make a difference? If anything you end up with a box + a game you did not enjoy in your library instead of just the game.

edit: of course, nevermind

Yea I have GCU also but the cost to get to my local Best Buy deters me from wanting to go there when I have Amazon credit I can use to buy PSN points and get the digital copy that is already reduced and the expansion pass that would save me 10% in the long run. Plus being able to just play the game moment I wake up will be incredible, and if it is truly an amazing game I would love to have it in my digital library so I can just switch back and play it whenever I want (Going to have to upgrade my hard drive eventually, and the sooner the better unfortunately).

Yea some people collect games still that they don't fully enjoy with the hopes of coming back to it, but I rather salvage the damage done and either get the full amount paid right away or around $45.

In terms of how it feels to play that's what it was like to me. You essentially flip around a lot in the Arkham games which is basically like the rolling in Witcher 2. The way the camera is set up fighting multiple enemies, you can go from enemy to enemy with certain attacks like Koshunter mentioned, but with a slower clunkier feeling. I can see the comparison to Souls in terms of dodging but actually playing it doesn't feel anything like the Souls' combat imo. I think Koshunter made the best explanation that I agree with for Witcher 2's combat.

I'm also not a fan of the Batman system either. :P

I don't know who these people are, but The Witcher is in a whole other league. They share some very basic similarities (Fantasy RPG, Story-Driven), but beyond that they really are very different.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about the expansion content so soon. It's not going to go up in price, and you'll be able to buy the pass at any time.
I'd say in this instance just go with your gut, if you have fears regarding the game's quality, then best to stick with something you can re-sell, but if you're feeling more confident then not, grab a digital edition.

Never played FFX or any other FF, dislike JRPGs, but damn if that isn't one beautiful song. Not really fitting the Witcher, but beautiful nonetheless. Kinda makes me want to play the FFX.

I preferred DA:O to either of the first two Witcher games. I don't know how anyone here (any press posters aside) can compare TW3 to anything since it's not out yet.

Thought TW3 looks amazing from what I've seen anyway.

Well I guess my first comment probably mislead you (And would probably put any DA fan on the defensive, so that was silly of me to lead with). My main point is not the quality of the games and preferences of each individual, but the many, many differences between the franchises besides the extremely basic genre definitions.

Okay. My concerns are still very much there regarding how this game is going to control but I ordered the new graphics card (GTX 960) that includes the game. I hope I don't end up being being disappointed in the end. The card will help with other games, especially with GTA V, but I do hope I enjoy up being able to enjoy and not be frustrated by Witcher 3.

Definitely agree there. I watched the Red Dead trailers over and over before the game's release. These kind of trailers are the best most succinct way to quickly show off a bunch of different features of your game. I really wish more developers would ape this style.

No need, Witcher 3 will also have glorius exploration music like this.

Just listening to that track and looking at that gif makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The ice giant looks basically the same, but they changed the hair. The new hair looks more like real hair, but I think they should have kept it black.

So true every "big" game not like small indie should have this kind of trailer just to let everyone know what the game is about and show you how the game will play.

I'm playing W2 in anticipation and I'm pleased by how cool the game is, so W3 will probably be my GOTY
after Xenoblade

I wouldn't be surprised if game had one build into it and that you could access it via some console command. After all there has been mentions that CDPR gave devs access to free camera mode that they then used to fly freely all over the world.

Every game has that. But the way to access such things are always removed from the final build. Unless the game has a photo mode... a hack will be necessary.

That's exactly what I mean. I did it for The Witcher 2, so hopefully I can do it again. I imagine TW3 is built off an iteration of the previous engine, so there's hope.

Well, if you figure it out please share your method on the forums. I know I would greatly appreciate that, and I'm sure many others would as well.

I'm still hoping CDPR will implement a full photo mode, though. That would be fantastic in a game like this with such incredible visuals and gorgeous scenery.

Little off topic, but I was wondering if CDPRs that unspecified co-op deal [marketing stuff, CE content...] with MS is reason why haven't seen any PS4 footage yet?

Will I be completely lost if I haven't played the others?
It's hard to say cause none of us have played the game yet, but if it's anything like The Witcher 2 (if TW2 was you first Witcher game) you'll be confused as hell at the start and that might completely put you off the game; not to mention TW2 has one of the worst prologues to any game. This is something CDProjekt has to get right for the huge influx of new players. Also you can always just go on Youtube or Wikipedia and get a rough idea of whats going on.
I guess you have to take their word for it but they've said that you can play this without playing the others.

I'd actually really like some sort of story recap feature in the game, you could read a synopsis of the previous games from your journal or something.
They got this video, kinda corny but it had some info https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQEJwz5xy5w
