Witcher 3 Rage & Steel Trailer

Brutal trailer. Combat looks great.

Seriously. God forbid we get a Witcher game with thoroughly entertaining and fun combat. I mean, I hope that's what we have in the Witcher 3, but 1 and 2 sure didn't provide that, IMO.

I can't speak for W1's combat, but I loved W2's. And Shadow of Mordor became really easy, really fast for me.

Daaaaamn.

I don't want to buy it on release day. I fear many bugs, glitches for such a huge game. This trailer though, this damn trailer.

SoM's difficulty problems didn't have much to do with the combat though. That was more related to how they doled out new abilities over time.

The combat itself was a blast, IMO.

So soon

lmfao. that is too good

So does this game play like Shadow of Mordor? If so, I'm in.

It doesn't, TW3 doesn't use free flow style of combat that Batman games and Mordor has. In TW3, especially on higher difficulty settings, you need to be a lot more careful about your attacks and time them properly. You strike at wrong time, enemy parries you and it causes you to lose your balance for a moment. In that moment that enemy will hurt you badly.

You won't be jumping from enemy to enemy to enemy who are 6+ meters apart and hitting them hit after hit until all is dead.

Here is some combat; https://youtu.be/94R0Ji39E68?t=179 I suggest watching all three Gophers videos about TW3 in full, they are spoiler free and explain a lot of TW3 mechanics etc. in detail.

For monster hunters they sure kill a lot of dudes.

Monsters come in many sizes, forms and races.

Dayum that 'nade throw at 1:20 fucked his shit up.

Yeah, judging from what I saw of the combat builds stream, alchemy builds are going to be very powerful. Grenades gib the hell out of enemies.

I imagine the dodge moves have I-frames? I am interested to test those out.

Edit: Here is the article with the stream in it. It shows off various combat builds and how they can be used. Also shows off the difficulty scaling towards the end.

Rage & Steel, lol. But seriously, it works with the footage. It's the kind of trailer that will make your beard grow and leave you feeling all like:

The trailer looks good but I think this game will have the same problems as dragon Age Inquisition. It will review extremely well, get great feedback on this forum then the problems will surface.

I'm expecting a bad UI and inventory system like witcher 2, bad combat and a huge focus on how big the map is by providing loads of fetch quests and side missions.

I hope to be proved wrong but everything I have seen so far has pointed to all of the above.

Strange. Everything I have seen so far has pointed to this not being the case. Have we seen the same gameplay previews?

Ciri made this look like a character action game. The next game with her should be like this.

That is basically how devs have described segments that are played as her. I think they estimated amount of Ciri gameplay to around 6-7 hours total.

Is this the alleged PS4 trailer that was going up the day after the compressed gameplay footage?

Actual question, since they made an official statement that a console trailer would follow.

Say that it's Youtube compression or whatever, but that trailer looked to me like it was the console version. Either that, or the PC version on medium settings. Which wouldn't make much sense.

Which platform did you play TW2 on? It was actually fun before all of the combat nerfs on PC up until the EE/conspole release. I wouldn't call SoM that fun either. Or at least, it doesn't have any staying power. It's extremely fun initially, until you realize just how shallow it really is. By the time you hit the second half of the game you're also essentially going full god-mode and the combat is entirely trivial. It's basically junk food in that regard.

Nothing I've seen has pointed to any of that. In fact it's all pointed to the opposite.
