With Knack 2 Being Announced, When's The Order 1886's Sequel?

Knack 2 gonna bomb hard and rid us of the worst mascot since Aero.

Yeah, I'm not sure what Sony is expecting the game to do. The first was able to ride the launch hype wave, but it's going to be nearly 4 years since then, and Sony has let a lot of their kid-friendly initiatives fall to the wayside. At this juncture, I'm not sure who the game is really for.

It's still a better investment than another installment of The Order, especially since they're probably going to reuse the hell out of the first game's assets.

Exactly. It's a damn shame that they're wasting resources on Knack of all things.

Anybody who thinks there's more meaningful game to be salvaged from Knack than The Order is out of their damn minds. Knack was barely anything but a character design, the actual game had like 2 ideas. The Order had an amazing world and still the best damn visuals I've ever seen. It just needs a better writer, more bosses and a little tweaking of the gunplay.

I don't think, and I hope that most people do, too, that there's anything remotely remarkable about Knack, but The Order is about as derivative a fantasy/horror work as they come, and the budget difference between both of them is nigh-astronomical. Sony's money that could come for a potential sequel to The Order is better spent on Naughty Dog, who do that kind of game much, much better.

Budget. The budget on Knack 2 is not going to be even close to recent AAA games. It will probably be lower then the first games budget. So they don't need the second game to put perform the first one to be profitable. This is not a tent pole release.

Considering all the story and gameplay missteps in The Order: 1886 I'd rather see a full on reboot than a sequel. And I usually can't stand reboots.

I'm on board for more from that world, but outside of the setting, style and presentation tech it would need a radical rethink across the board. The multi-purpose QTEs didn't work, nor did the stealth, nor the boss battles, nor the werewolf encounters, nor the examination of objects. There was no investigation and no mystery to solve, but its one hell of a stunning looking game with some decent third person shooting.

Is Ready at Dawn still alive?

Still alive, currently working on Deformers:

And Lone Echo for the Rift.

I'd think the reason it sold well was the fact that it was a first party launch title. People hungry to see the new tech on their new shiny system. Honestly think The Order deserves a sequel or new game much more. Knack was all sorts of bad.

Hopefully for PS5 or sometime down the line. I love 1886, but If Sony shut down Evolution Studios their own studio, there's no way we're getting an 1886 sequel so soon.

OP pls. I'll have a great time playing this with my 6 year old boy. He loved the first and co-op looks like great fun. Sarcasm doesn't look good on you, GAF.

Order 1886 bombed, Knack is one of the best selling games of PS4 in Japan
Not only Japan... it do pretty well in UK and Europe... when PS4 sale get boost in UK it shows in the chart.

It is a good game with flaws that kids loves.

I just see this hate here in GAF... looks like most forget their children.

I'd much, much rather a 1886 sequel. It at least had enjoyable parts and was pretty to look at. It was too short which is not necessarily all bad since I would have loved to see more. Any amount of Knack was too much.

I'm happy Knack fans get another game. Fans always deserve games they want. I like seeing people happy.

However, in my opinion, Knack isn't that good of a game. Everything about it is incredible average. Even the sly banter was average. The gameplay was incredibly basic in every possible way. The Knack 2 trailer looks more of the same. I don't get why people love. I'm still happy for y'all though.

Play with your kids and you will understand.

It amazing fun.

While its a fun meme, I will never understand why this got a sequel. It's a very average launch title for kids. There's potential there for a great series like Ratchet, but nothing from the new trailer showed any promise of a better game. As long as its $40, I guess it'll be a middling success.

Best wishes.

The Order is not a meme. Knack is.

Memes always win.

Still don't understand how it became such a popular meme. I understand that it had all of the right components to be an astounding game. Though I feel like its charm and pixar-like visuals were it's high points as compared to the gameplay, which was extremely lacking in terms of combos, stupid enemy difficulty inconsistencies with scattered checkpoints, and the most useless use for the right stick I have ever seen (at least they could have made it a dodge comparable to God of War, not a timed QTE dodge).

Verendus, He's been sowing the seed for years now. Slowly invading the GAF hive and twisting it to his nefarious plans.

The Knack Army avatars (edit: LOL, speak of the devil)? That was all him. No joke.

The word "Knack" is fun to say and Knack himself is charming in a goofy and easy to make fun of game. I don't think most people played the game enough to know about those gameplay problems.

Knack 2 throws one of your most valuable employees a bone to keep him happy (Cerny is directing again, right?) and fills a hole in your lineup when you do a price cut and start marketing more towards kids. Plus it'll break even at worst.

Or you can make a sequel for a game that completely flopped and has a lot of competition in its space already, including two IPs that you also own.

Tough choice, really.

More importantly MAG2 when?

Now this is a sequel that needs to be made, along with a proper Warhawk sequel.
