Woah, there's a new Chucky film coming this fall. Doesn't look too bad.

I didn't know this existed! Last time I heard something about Chucky, it was supposed to be a CG reboot or some shit like that. Anyway, this is meant to be a "scary" film again unlike the awful Seed of Chucky.

Synopsis:

Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

It will be out fall. Direct to DVD/Blu-Ray

I see Fiona Dourif is in it.. (Brad Dourif's daughter) - hopefully Brad is at least providing the voice of Chucky again.

The first two are solid. The rest are terrible, but Bride of Chucky is at least enjoyable terrible. Seed of Chucky is intentionally so bad its good, but it is actually terrible.

I'm okay with a remake/reboot, whatever this is.

Not a good thing. Bride of Chucky was the best in the series by a wide, wide margin.

The original scared me so bad as a kid but was pretty good otherwise haha. The 2nd one with the army kids was dumb. The 3rd I can't remember (was there a 3rd?).

Bride of Chuck tho was amazing like others above have posted. Seed of Chucky was dumb. So if we are going by the same pattern, this one will be forgettable (unless there was a 6th movie already that I'm forgetting and then this one will be amazing)

Meh, not terribly excited for a "serious" Chucky movie. It seemed to me that going comedy was a perfect fit for something so stupid. Chucky movies were never remotely scary for me. Seemed like it relied too much on kids owning My Buddy and being scared shitless of it afterwards.

You got it wrong, the 3rd one is the one with the army kids, the second one is where Andy is sent to a foster home and meets this teenage girl and then they kill Chucky in one of the Good Guy doll factories

The 3rd movie was the army movie. The 2nd movie has Andy going to a foster home and his older step sister helps him

Edit: Dammit Rayis!

this is 90s material

i love 90s material but i don't think this will feel the same

the 90s just had a filter to it, this is unfiltered

Bride of Chucky was a fun one off, but I they really need to bring the franchise back to it's dark roots. Who cares if they made Chucky funny in the past two films. Just make a dark, scary film and we'll see what happens. Child's Play was one hell of a tense, claustrophobic film. Can Mancini bring some of that back?

Loved the first two. Hated everything after. I would have been interested in a reboot.

Why the long case?

Oh sweet, looks like he is back to his roots. I'll watch the shit out of this. 1,2, and 3 were awesome!

The first two are great. The third one was kind of meh because Andy's grown up.

Bride of Chucky was a nice twist but it lead to him looking like a deformed piece of plastic and was the start of too much comedy and way less horror. They just weren't scary to watch.

I won't even go into Seed of Chucky, perhaps one of the worst films made.

I first watched them when I was like 5, I'd have a cousin outside the door when I wanted to pee, I'd check under my bed before sleeping, would never go into the basement. I'm glad they went for a reboot and want to embrace the horror that started it.

So is this something of a reboot? Chucky would have the stitches on his face otherwise, no?

I don't know why I like this franchise so much.

Glad they finally got rid of that stitched up Bride/Seed doll. Sad to see this isn't getting a theatrical release.

maybe tomorrow it rains
Chucky scared me to the point of tears as a kid. I'll continue to watch whatever they put out, no matter how terrible.
