Annoyed there isn't a physical copy for NA. Infamous: Last Light did the same damn thing. I want to see the cover art; if it is good, I guess I'll order it overseas.

Hey op, those obviously aren't screenshot. Lol I wish! That's concept art.

Really? What platform did you play TNO on? They're very clearly super-sampled or high resolution anti-aliased PC screenshots. At worst they're posed scenes using in-game assets. Image quality is above what most people can afford, but there's no way they're concept art. I fully expect the game to look like these images. I can even see geometry aliasing. For reference:

I live in the US and would love to import the physical for collecting reasons, but I've never done this before. Does anyone know of a good store/site for this type of thing? I suppose I could just find it on ebay at some point, but I didn't know if there were any experienced GAFer's that had a better solution.

I just had a drunken epiphany. Duke and Blazkowicz are the faces of the classic FPS.

How epic would it be if they had a DLC together where you start off playing Blazkowicz and you're fighting Nazi's in 2050 and suddenly aliens appear trying to conquer the world over the Nazi's. Early along Blazkowicz meets Duke and BJ says, "I heard alien bastards shot up your ride" and from there on it's a 2 player co-op.

It runs well enough on my 280X, the framerate does dip quite a bit in some areas where I feel it makes no sense. The worst framerates are in the fucking hub-base. Actual levels all ran smooth for the most part so you should be good to go with the 290. The only issues are framerate related at least, no graphical glitches or crashes or anything of the sort.

The hub-base's fucking awful DOF effect probably kills it, but that's good to know, thanks :)

Nah it tanks in the middle of the main floor, I swear it hits sub 30 :lol. It's insane how bad that engine is. But yeah, when it matters the framerate is more than good enough, all the way to a perfect 60 and the game is good enough to forgive the engine choice in the end.

Wait so here in Australia there only appears to be PS4 and PC physical releases, so there's no Xbox One? :( I own the original on XBO so I'd just like to get them both on the same system. :/

I really need to buy The New Order on the PS4 since I only managed to finish it on the Xbox 360.

Standalone DLC is always great in my book. I hope more devs take that approach.

Just found out about this. Will definitely be a day one purchase.

You could make it a time travel buddy action flick where we discover in a twist that Duke is BJ's grandson.

Falk

that puzzling face
Considering BJ was pretty much a silent protagonist for the longest time and Duke was an annoying meathead to play, who amounted to not much more than Johnny Bravo with guns and terrible self-serving dialogue tacked on, no thanks.

A big thank you to those who recommended TNO earlier in this thread. Got it last night and managed around 2-3 hours straight before time got the better of me (it was 2am). Fantastic start to the game and the story, characters (especially BJ who has been an amazing protagonist so far) and shooting mechanics are top notch so far.

I love the decision early on
having to choose which comrade to keep alive and how it effect the story in small yet noticeable ways (I'm hoping for more of this as I go through). I've just managed to save Anya and I'm just about to torture the Nazi officer.
I'm very surprised by how story heavy it is so far. Something I feel isn't stressed enough in reviews. I've not enjoyed an FPS as much as this since Bioshock: Infinite (even though it now seems to be "uncool" to like that game).

If it keeps up this kind of quality then The Old blood will be a definite day one buy for me.

Bayonetta 2? thats one that jumps out to me. I would recommend people play that first in most cases.

I'm confused at what you're saying. He said he couldn't think of an exception to the "play in release order rule" and then you name bayonetta 2 and say you recommend people play the first bayonetta first o.0

You're in for a fun ride, it only gets better for the most part, or at least maintains a consistent level of fun bar a few small fetch quests (that I didn't mind)

I'm going to keep myself from watching it because I don't want to be spoiled. I loved The New Order and I want to feel the same with this game :).

The only problem i had with TNO was the level design, i thought that this "90s action game" would be entirely like that, not only gunplay, and health bar...

The game was so CoD, so linear, hope this expansion will be more creative in its level design, but from the gameplay...it looks the same thing.

Return to castle wolfenstein is the game they must see as a refference.

Oh man, you can have the heavy MG in your inventory now? In TNO, it was a disposable and had to be discarded if you wanted to switch weapons.

The new weapons seem awesome. Pistol rocket launcher, shrapnel shotgun in a new look, pipe, and bolt-action rifle with scope. Combat scenarios seem intense as usual. Noticed his health was coming back way faster, could've been an upgrade. Hey, gstaff, good playing on 20 health ;)

Was very happy to hear there would be more of an occult theme to this standalone.

Not sure how I feel about being able to carry the heavy MG in your inventory. It's an insanely OP weapon, I would preferred they kept it as a one time use weapon rather than something you carry around as a potential win weapon.

Big-ass Ramp

hella bullets that's true
I've been clearing out my backlog and Wolfenstein was on my list. It completely blew me away at how good it was, especially considering what I was expecting. In fact, I beat Wolfenstein and went straight to Far Cry 4, and it made me not like FC4 very much. The way you move and the way the guns handle in Wolfenstein is just so much better.

Needless to say, this will be a day 1 for me.

It wasn't CoD like at all. Many levels were quite open and had multiple routes and ways of tackling them.
