Woman Accused Of Punching Guy Who Thanked Her For Talking During The Movie

Police in Indiana say the two were leaving a movie theater early Sunday morning when they got into a fight about her behavior during a screening of Suicide Squad, The Smoking Gun reports.

The man apparently told her, “I just wanted to thank you for talking through the entire movie and ruining it for everyone.” For those unfamiliar with sarcasm, this statement is the opposite of how he felt.

The woman responded by shoving the man and then punching him twice in the face, police allege. A probable cause affidavit says the man suffered “pain, swelling, and watering of the eye,” but that he declined medical assistance and told cops he didn’t want to press charges.

She was arrested nonetheless on a misdemeanor battery charge and booked into county jail. Police say that during questioning, she claimed she pushed the man because he got close to her.

Woman Punches Man In Movie Chatter Dispute

AUGUST 9--An Indiana woman is facing a battery charge after allegedly slugging a fellow moviegoer in the face after he complained about her talking through the entirety of a showing of “Suicide Squad.”

According to police, LaQuintae Taborn, 34, and William Mason were exiting a theater in Portage early Sunday morning when the confrontation occurred. Cops say that Mason told Taborn, “I just wanted to thank you for talking through the entire movie and ruining it for everyone.”

During police questioning, Taborn reportedly said that she pushed the man when he got close to her. As for the punches, Taborn explained that she hit the man in anticipation of him retaliating for her pushing him.

Police arrested Taborn on a misdemeanor battery charge and booked her into the county jail (where the above mug shot was snapped).

If she pushed him for being too close and punched him as an early strike to the anticipated retaliation for pushing him, why not yet again attack him early for the anticipated retaliation to the punch and push?

I can actually believe her side of it. She pushes the guy who leaned in a little close with his saracasm, sees the startled anger on his face as he bounces back from being pushed, and pre-emptively strikes.

Of course, that's not how you're supposed to do things in life. She should catch a charge. But yeah.

Most hilarious excuse I've read for someone continuing to fight someone.

Wow dude took a beating and still didn't want to press charges. He takes the high horse on this one, not sure I would have done the same thing.

I love this so much.

Unless she's mentally insane... literally insane.. I'm sure there's a side of the story that makes this make more sense.

Who shoves a person then socks them for saying what he said?

I feel like if he was the type of guy to get up and punch a woman for pushing him, he would definitely be the type of guy to get up and punch a woman after getting punched in the face twice. Since he didn't punch her after getting punched, I'm gonna say she's talking bullshit.

Too timid to tell her to be quiet or get an usher to remove her during the movie, but bold enough to make a sarcastic remark on the way out.

She's obviously in the wrong if she was talking and for hitting him. But people, dont just sit there and take this stuff. Sitting through the entire movie and letting it boil over won't solve anything. Theaters have ushers, or you could just ask her to be quiet.

That's why you go to the Alamo theaters.

Dope move taking the high horse, but she's still facing criminal charges. In this case, his desire to not press charges isn't going to affect the DA's case.

This shit happens there and at Movie Tavern too

A group of old flops made me move from my seat because they claimed it was theirs, tried to talk all through the first half of the film before the waiter told them they were in the wrong seats and to shut up

I took my kid to see the Angry Birds movie-which I could have not cared less about. However, right in front of us were these two moms who proceeded to face each other and talk in a normal conversation volume about their upcoming vacations. They pulled their phones out with full brightness and were showing each other the bungalows they were going to be staying at. After about 5 minutes of this I leaned in and said "Excuse me. Are you planning on talking the entire movie or are you going to be changing seats?" They turned around and looked at me with a death stare. They said "No, we'll stop."

They were quiet as a mouse the rest of the movie.

And you let them kick you out of your seat? I've never had a problem at the Alamo with anything/anyone.

That's why you talk to the usher. The kind of people who talk during a movie usually aren't very receptive to being reprimanded for their actions or correcting them.

^There's absolutely no reason to get physical in any way with someone for them calling you out for being an ass.

One of my favorite things to do is to get loud moviegoers kicked out. I'd rather not miss 5 minutes of the film, but it's worth it when one jackass is ruining it for everyone else.

Bonus points if I get a family+baby combo. Don't bring your fucking kids to a new release movie after 4 PM. I usually call an usher before the movie starts and get them removed during the previews. (Obviously not for kids movies, but fuck you CA Civil War isn't a movie for your toddler/infant.)

I could buy the reason for pushing, but the punch excuse is really laughable.

Buy it, don't buy it. What difference does it make. We could all accept it as the gospel truth, it doesn't excuse her actions.

She didn't say she pushed him because of what he said, she said she pushed him becuse of the invasion of her personal space.

Oh, that's better.

He got close to me in the small hallway exit of the theater that is a choke point for egress for many people. Yeah, I wonder how she copes with going anywhere with lots of people, like public transportation, stadiums, and such.
