On the train ride into work every morning I notice that a lot of working women these days are carrying anywhere from 2-3 bags on them. It seems like they have a purse, a workbag and a small suitcase with them EVERYDAY!

What the hell? As if the thought of needing an entire purse all the time wasn't crazy enough to me...I can't even begin to fathom what's going on with so many people that multiple bags are required.

I'm talking something like this:

...what gives? What am I missing?!

I usually see one bag and its usually huuuuge. And I never see whats in it but I hear all manner of objects rattling around inside them. Tampons I guess.

lol, that picture looks like me coming home from Japan.

Suitcase + 15 kilo backpack + handbag with flight essentials + laptop bag + giant coat that wouldn't fit in my bag drapped over my shoulders in the middle of july walking around Nihombashi station trying to figure out how to get it down the stairs.

I think I just carry a lot of stuff "just in case". I take my textbook on the bus to meet up with a friend "just in case" I feel like revising, but never do. Also take a bottle of water so I don't need to buy one, toiletries incase I get stuck somewhere and need my medication/ to brush my teeth, and sometimes my laptop just in case I need to use it.

through history women have traditionally been gatherers. today instead of collecting fruit and stuff they collect cosmetics and junk. it's in there DNA.

Personal bag + work bag + workout bag? How would you carry all that stuff?

Personal Bag: Reduced to a few items that can be carried in pockets

Work Bag: Leave those items at work or carry a backpack

Workout Bag: Left at home and picked up after work on the way to the gym, or if you live far away you could have a locker at the gym where you keep a few gym things.

Yes, Tampons. Lip gloss, Wallet, Some Jewellery, make up , Hammer, tongs, make up, knives, Guns, receipts, make up, Bazooka etc.

But no money. Never. That what we men are for :/ .

I carry a wallet and an iphone.

My girlfriend carrys enough stuff for a survival weekend

I've been saying this for years.

Wouldn't it be classier to just have like a little tampon case, like those old fashioned cigarette holsters? Maybe a small purse to go with it. Not like these twelve gallon monstrosities you see every day, big enough to abduct a child with.

Quite a lot of women's clothing simply doesn't have pockets.

I actually question why women's clothes have pockets at all. There is pretty much next to no ability to fit anything into the front pockets, and anything that gets stuck in the back pocket will protrude like crazy and surely be uncomfortable if sat on.

Pockets in women's pants for most styles just seems pointless. The only thing I can ever remember my wife putting in her pocket are receipts.

There have been many a times when wish I had x item only for it on be procured from one of these bags. I for one am appreciative of this.

Some even carry shoe's in their fucking bag... I hate women who bring these huge bags into clubs... WTF
I appreciate it when my girl brings one of her huge bags to the cinema though, that way I can sneak in my own chips and drinks so that I don't have to pay 5€ for a fking Monster.

I only use one bag and I like it the most empty possible. I just have a few cards (debit, metro, ID), a small notebook, a pen, a small purse, my keys, tissues and for the girly stuff, I just have one lip balm and ICE stuff. Sometimes I trade my notebook for my DS or a book but that's all.

Most of Parisian girls use 2 huge bags, I don't understand why...

Mekere, Big bags are supposed to make you look smaller. Or so the saying goes.

This is the problem. And you think "well I'm taking a bag so I might as well fill it with more than a wallet and a phone". Usually the man wants me to carry things for him too, since I
m already holding a bag :p

EDIT: I don't generally carry tampons or stuff like that, so I don't think that's what's actually filling up the bags of some women =/

I am not a woman but all of a sudden I've started carrying so much stuff that I take a messenger bag with me pretty much everywhere. House keys, car key, wallet, smartphone, a pen, maybe some breath strips, and I recently started taking my Macbook Air with me. And then I realized what I have is a murse. How the f did that happen?

Because jeans without pockets look stupid.

I don't carry a huge amount in my bag but couldn't go without it - keys x3 (house, work, car), purse, kindle, phone, painkillers, small pack of hankies, headphones and lip balm. Pockets aren't big enough (and full pockets often ruin the way clothes sit!)

Sometimes I wish it was socially acceptable for men to carry a bag around because I get jealous of how easy it is for women to carry all that stuff.

Especially change. I hate change.

Ditto will never understand it, my gf is a huge offender of this.

Woops I brought 10 lbs of schoolbooks to work in my gigantic fucking bag oh well!

Keys (debit card on the keychain) phone headphones. Possibly a small/light sling bag with a change of clothes for the gym and a water bottle or my asus transformer if I'm going to class.

Where do you live that a messenger bag is not socially acceptable? I can do it in ND backwaters and nobody cares. Well, they might talk shit behind my back but idgaf.

I carry around a messenger bag.

It's perfectly acceptable for men to carry a bag around. It just shouldn't look like a purse. That means either keep a messenger bag or a briefcase.

I personally cannot stand carrying around stuff. When you walk with a bag, it sways around and hits your leg all the time and is annoying as shit.

If I need to carry around stuff I use a backpack.
