* Activision/Id Software's 'Doom 3' explodes into the Top 40 at No1 pushing their own Activision published 'Spider-Man 2' down to No2 and becoming the 5th fastest selling PC game in the UK based on launch week. 'Doom 3' (PC) achieves higher launch week sales than 'Spider-Man 2' on PS2, becoming the first PC exclusive title to reach No1 in an All Formats Chart since Eidos' 'Championship Manager 4' (week 13, 2003). 'Doom 3' accounts for over 17% of all PC game sales this week. With the Olympics in full swing Sony's 'Athens 2004' (PS2) jumps from No5 to No3, while Activision's 'Shrek 2' (down from No3 to No7) is squeezed down the chart by new entries 'Doom 3' and Vivendi's critically acclaimed movie tie-in 'The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay' (XB) which enters at No5. There are now 7 movie tie-in games in the Top 40 with EA's 'Catwoman' which was released last week clawing its way into the Top 40 for the first time (debuting at No17). This week's Top 40 highest climber is Play It's 'America's 10 Most Wanted' (PS2), up 11 places from No22 to No11.
