Worried about the X360...

Ok, just to clear that out of the way, I already have prepaid my Xbox360 Premium Pack and will receive it maybe 2 weeks after launch.

But I'm worried about what's coming next year. What's between PGR3 and GoW? Are they gonna pull a Nintendo on us?

Give me NBA2K7 and Tiger Woods 2007, maybe a good NHL game... X-Box Live Arcade should be cool for retro games next year...

I am sure I will be happy with NBA2K6 and Tiger Woods 2006 until that time... IF I CAN GET A SYSTEM AT LAUNCH! Ahhhh...

Dead Rising, Full Auto and Rumble Roses are some of the 2k6 games I'm looking forward to. Granted they aren't for everybody but they look cool to me!

Anyone know how many games are currently in development? At E3, the number was around 150, if I recall correctly.

::hands him NBA2K6 and Tiger Woods 2006 for Xbox:: You're all set!

I just went back and found the article discussing this over at IGN. E3 numbers had MS stating 25-40 titles by the end of this year with another 160 in development for 2006 and beyond.

Wait for the library to grow.

I don't understand how can you judge when a library is "big enough" to purchase a system. I bought my Ps2 when I had the money, which was 2 years after the release. I was 2 years behing game-wise. I won't do that again.

I'm just worried, not "Omg I'm not sure If I made the right choice".

That is where I am. I am hoping that it will be like the PSP launch, with X360s available at non-specialty stores all over the city.

Being behind isn't necessarily a bad thing. You then have the luxury of picking among the best of the best games. They have all been played, have tons of reviews and your decision can be more informed. Making you get more gaming bang for your buck.

I'm sure there's tons of good games out there that haven't been announced yet. No worries.

I'm excited. I've never got any system AT launch. Can't wait.

I go by the simple "There is enough shit I want to play on it" logic.

So much focus has been laid on the launch titles, that I can certainly see concern for what 2006 holds. E3 of next year will answer that for us. I actually predict 2006 to be a pretty lackluster year for the 360.

But 2007... holy @#%&.

I think the point of this thread was to find out whats coming out next year for the 360...

There is enough shit I want to play on the X360 this year. But what about spring 2006? They haven't talk about it a single time yet.

Precisely.

Yeah, but that's not a fun conversation.

If you don't think there's enough to carry you over until SPRING of next year, you may want to reconsider this purchase.
But I've still got NES games I've been meaning to get around to beating, so maybe I'm just different in my ways of play.

Yeah, I don't understand how that's difficult to understand. If you have enough money to get an Xbox 360, then wait a few months, and if games come out, or you see they're coming, buy it. If you waited for a PS2, and when you got it you were "behind," then clearly there were a lot of games that were out before you bought it that probably would've justified your purchase. If you were saving money, I can understand that. If you just didn't buy it, you're a moron.

Ghost Recon and Saints Row may be around then.

Mass Effect, Too Human, Splinter Cell 4, and about a thousand other games some announced many not.

Do you have an Xbox?

If not, you should find PLENTY of games that you missed out on with the Xbox for real cheap (assuming they get the BC issues taken care of). Pick up Ninja Gaiden Black and the Halo Triple Pack for starters...

I'm not worried about things to play at all. I have 10 games coming between Nov 22 and whenever Oblivion comes,.... 12 by the time Saints Row/Outfit hit... And probably a few splurge purchases in between.

I feel that all the games I am buying are AAA games in my mind... There is a lot games that interest me on the system. Plus having custom soundtracks in every game make X360 games the definitive version to buy

I most likely will be adopting the X360 as my primary and only next-gen console for a long while. I'm still going to pick up PS2 games every once in a while as well. My thought process is to build up a nice library of games so I don't flinch when the PS3 launches... That thing has to have the magical combo of Tekken(and Virtua Fighter 5/Soul Calibur if it is Sony exclusive), Metal Gear and Grand Theft Auto on the system at the same time to make me splurge.

What kinds of games are you looking for? The thing that surprises me about the X360 is that I actually think it has a lot of games coming out for it between launch and E3 2006. After E3 2006, you would have to wait and see what they will be doing outside of Crackdown, Mass Effect, and Too Human.

Just off the top of my head, here are some games to look forward to in 06.

January through May
Full Auto
Splinter Cell
Gears of War
Fight Night
Def Jam
Burnout
Ghost Recon
Saint's Row
Chromehounds
The Outfit
Dead Rising

From launch till E3 2006, it looks like it has a lineup like a normal console. It doesn't look like it will have the same drought that a lot of systems do just after launch.

The system hasn't blimmin launched yet, of course they are going to concentrate on nothing but the launch titles, what do you guys expect?

The Xbox never had any droughts, and many of the Xbox's major developers (like Mech Assault and Crimson Skies devs) haven't revealed games.

What are you worried about?

It's this mentality that dooms you. Why do you need to game at the pace of others? So you can discuss what's new and cool here in the forum, or with your friends?

You'll have to wait.

I guess you're going to have to sell your 360 and buy a Revolution though :o

I think he wants more to be a part of launch. The excitement of being there when a Triple-A game launches. Not 2 years down the road when you have to serve a "Late to the party..." thread.

The awesomeness of discovering the original Silent Hill, ICO, or GTA3 before the monster hype and acclaim comes pouring in.

I think he's wanting that feeling.

Meh.... and here I thought the enjoyment of gaming came from actually sitting down and playing the thing... regardless of when you do it in relation to others... silly me. ;)

Well, I'm not saying the mentality is right or wrong, only that maybe that's what he's looking for. *shrugs*

There are plenty of titles coming out next year that interest me aside from GoW. Mass Effect, Chrome Hounds, RE5(hopefully anyhow), Dead Rising, Ninety Nine Nights, Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey. And those are just the ones we know are coming out fo sho. Plenty more will show up and surprise us.

I can understand the concern...the PS2 launch let me down real hard, and other than SSX and a little RRV, I didn't want to touch the damned thing for a long time.

I really don't think that is going to happen this time. Sure, the first year of any new system is always lean compared to the later years, but this one looks to be better than average.

QFT.

In fact I find too much hype for a game, kinda turns up the cynicism in me and dampen my enthusiasm.

PS2 maybe, for the Gamecube I see maybe 2?

Anyway, when you have games like Oblivion, PGR3, Condemned, Kameo, and NBA 2K6 in a launch period, you know people are going to get excited.

Enjoy your PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, whatever it is you play. MS is delivering the goods next month.

I bought a great, brand new, game for the Atari 2600 recently. I'm not being facetious.

What the fuck does that have to do with whether there are also newer generations of systems? Not a goddamn thing. Is it any reason to not buy new systems? Of course not, but haters will always rationalize.

Xbox 360 must have really pissed in a lot of people's Wheaties. Nah, just GAFFERS.

im getting one when i can walk into a store and pick one up in a bundle with 2 or more games and they are 2 games i want.

Most likely January some time.

Right, but because of that it's sort of cool to discover something before you get swamped by the unavoidable hype. I remember getting GTA III at launch before it exploded and I was just blown away when it was so incredible and different. If I had gotten it two years later when everyone and anyone had discussed it and approached it from every angle, I wonder if I would have had the same experience.
