Worst soundtrack in a game?

What are your nominations?

Here's mine:

+ Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (TG-16)
+ Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES)
What was up with the modulating keyboard voice on these games? So painful on the ears.

+ Altered Beast (GEN)
Wow, two whole synth voices. Thanks.

+ Mario Paint (SNES)
Ugh. Spend more than 10 seconds in the sequencer next time. Oh, and leave the voice / animal sounds the fuck alone. Some of the strings were even out of tune!

+ Final Fight (SNES)
Clearly, this was composed by feeding laxative to a bunch of rhesus monkeys, who played notes by shitting on the keyboard uncontrollably.

+ China Warrior (TG-16)
I don't know if anyone in the whole world but me ever played this game, but I hope they didn't, because the weird, stereotyping "Chinese" music was fucking bizarre.

+ Moonwalker
lol

wtf, Zelda 2 and Final Fight's soundtrack rocked :(
Zelda II sounded okay on the opening screen, and the dungeon song was okay, but it was torture to listen to, other than that.

Final Fight was like, Bevery Hills Cop music, if it were made by poor people.

That's a poor list for "worst soundtrack" choices. Too many classics you got listed there. :)

I don't know what the worst soundtrack is, but I'm sure it has "EA Trax" listed on the game box.

even though you're off there, you say that as if Beverly Hills Cop had a bad soundtrack or something.

it's totally worth it for the theme song, and 'neutron dance' by the pointer sisters alone.

It's just so minimalist and poorly thought out. Really tuneless and trying too hard to be quirky.
i didn't know less instruments meant shittier music.

in any case, this isn't even a matter of opinions anymore. you're wrong about the soundtrack being bad, and that's final.

from here on out, your opinion has no value.

dude, Mario Paint has a fuckin awesome sountrack. how dare you say that?

narbo!

One of my earliest memorie is the music during the fly swatting mini game. Wait...that was Mario Paint right?!

Can someone find me that song?

Not minimalist as in, they made an artistic choice to be quiet. But, "well, we have a drum machine and that honky-sounding keyboard. I think we can call it a day."

lol @ "your opinion has no value." The Pointer Sisters? Yeah, man. Not touching that one. ;)

Final Fantasy VI

IMO Final Fight did have bad music on the SNES (I didn't like the way it sounded either), but Final Fight had a good soundtrack.

Anyway let's all just say EA TRAX since nothing could be worse. :D

Wrestlemania XIX. The music that played when activating a special got so annoying it was almost worth tearing hair out over.

Oh, and most of the early Tomb Raider games, if for no other reason than that more often than not they played no music at all.

Man, I kinda like the Keith Courage and China Warrior soundtracks.

And if you're talking about awful synth voices, Ikari Warriors II and Thunder Force II are the worst. Or best, depending on your point of view.

Ninja Gaiden (Black); I wanted to pierce my eardrums with heated skewers.

The Ninja Gaiden soundtrack isn't that good period without having to be compared to some guy screaming.

Resident Evil: Director's Cut Dual Shock

It would suck if Deadly Silence used that version's soundtrack, but judging from the official site, that looks to be the case.

Zelda II and Mario Paint have awesome music. You suck.

BTW, PooP2:WW wins this thread.

FU to the thread starter. Interesting thread, but you have some awful taste.

True Crimes: Strreets of LA
Definitely the winner here, it was retarded of them to not give the player a choice of music. They borrow so much from GTA, but ditch the radio system? If the next game does this shit again I'm gonna be pissed.

San Francisco Rush (N64)

Unless you're deaf, I don't think any one could survive listening through so-called background music in that game. I remember having to turn off BGM just to be able to play the game (for some reason, when you disabled music, game's framerate went up. which was a nice bonus).
