Would a PROPER Pokemon game boost Gamecube sales?

I think it's fair to say (and if anyone argues then you're wrong!) that over the last 8 years now, Pokemon has been far and away the biggest gaming franchise. Even now, it's still going strong, Pokemon FiLe has sold 2.5m in Japan (handily outgunning it's nearest rival- the Dragon Quest V remake on PS2 at about 1.5m) and will probably sell a similar amount in the US by the end of the year. Certainly 7-8m worldwide isn't unreasonable at all, and for a remake of an 8 year old game, that's not bad. And of course, the last GBA Pokemon is on about 15m worldwide + which beats out any other console game of the last 10 years (GTA included).

If Nintendo released a proper, full 3D verson of Pokemon on Gamecube, how does everyone think it would do?

I reckon it would do excellent. It definitely would appeal to me, if it were an RPG, it's about time and of course include some form of connectivity? Hopefully Nintendo can restore my faith in them

Possibly, but the way Pokemon Colloseum was advertised with it's 40 HOUR ADVENTURE MODE, people might be a bit sceptic. But yeah, with the low price of the GC, and the popularity of Pokemon, this could sell a LOT of GCs. Just think of all those people who bought a GBA for Pokemon. GC is pretty much the same price as GBA (cheaper in some parts of the world).

it would sale, but would be a waste on GC.

they better have a real pokemon game ready for revolutions first or second christmas

Yeah, exactly. In Japan especially, Pokemon sent GBA sales insane when it came out, upto 250k a week for a short period.

I don't understand why it hasn't been done yet??

I reckon Zelda 2005 and a proper Pokemon game on GC (as well as RE4) could do wonders for the cube's popularity...

Here it comes. I predict at least 3 thread about the new Zelda, Mario Baseball, and Pokemon for GCN in the next week.

I think Nintendo would be best to keep things a bit more traditional than before, but make sure this new Pokemon title doesn't replace Colosseum.

I'm personally hoping for Gold and Silver remakes or new 2D games on the GC, with FSA-like graphics. I'm sure it'd sell really well, although the GBA and DS make more sense at this point.

Absolutely. I don't see why it wouldn't at all. To be honest, there isn't a better title to launch Nintendo's online campaign than a Pokemon MMORPG. I've said this time and again. We all want it, and if you don't, you don't like games.

We'll see...(the only pokemon game I'd really want is Pokemon Snap 2)

As strange as this sounds. IAWTP. :)

I do think NINTENDO missed the boat in a big way not launching a massive killer Pokemon RPG in 2003/4 - I mean the resources they spent doing BOX + COLOSSEUM could have been spent doing a POKEMON rpg in the vein of something similar to paper mario + mario luigi + the SE MARIO rpg + MEGAMAN gba rpgs... they could have even gotten skip (GIFTPIA fame) to help out with the battle engine + gameplay. I'm not a pokemon player but if they do one with a compelling enough story (hey.. even the movies were sort of epic)... I would buy it.

THEY REALLY MISSED THE BOAT WITH THIS ONE.

if we ever do see a pokemon mmporg, which I think is unlikely because Nintendo aren't smart enough, I envision Nintendo making billions then being sued for killing about 100,000 people

No, I don't think it would do as well as the portable versions.

The strong part of the appeal of Pokemon is being able to carry the game anywhere and being able to trade with other people.
