TLOU Part 2 Remastered SkU received a 2 million sales boost during season two run.

TLOU actually is very similar to Star Wars in some ways. Make bank on cross-media projects that catapult off past success while devaluing the brand.

Interest in TLOU is at an all-time high once you've completed the first game/show, leading to eager consumption of the next thing, which kills the excitement you had, for a fee.

Damn, Gaffers and idiots like the Quartering were saying this game was a massive financial flop and that Neil Druckmann was going to be homeless. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

part 2 story sucks ass, gameplay is great, so good that I would love an endless no return mode.
I remember when people said that a story's quality did not dictate a game's quality.

Even Kanye West loved TLOU2, man. Time to let it go.

I bought Part 2 when it dropped on Steam, and played through both parts (Part 1 for like the 5th time) before beginning Season 2.

I thought it would enrich the viewing experience. All it did was highlight Season 2's multitudinous flaws and expose it for the rancid piece of shit it actually is.

Nice! The more people that play this game the better.
I wholeheartedly agree. We need people to see exactly how to completely destroy the legacy of the original game by making a sequel that is in ALL ways inferior to the original. I'm happy more people will now understand why the original season on HBO was so well received and (so far) season 2 has been met with derision when they followed the games they are based on.

Wish it was good enough to give me big hype for Part 3. But considering Druck is too demure to work on it, there is some potential upside.

Been watching a lot of reaction videos and, anecdotally, every other streamer who liked that show was like "No way I'm waiting 2 years to rewind and see the PoV of an antagonist that I barely even know. Guess I'm buying the game." One of them didn't even play games and struggled to aim at anything or pick up objects. Cruel way to treat the audience as they could have just as easily ended the show after Abby points the gun, but seems like it worked on some.
I had like to see the one who struggled to aim at anything. Do you have their name?

I disagree, TLOU 2 is a very good game, but i think Donkey Kong is the best game ever
I disagree, TLOU 2 is a very average game, but I think Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is one of the best games ever but Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube is the best game ever.

TLOU season 2 was a psyop to increase TLOU2 sales. Made a disappointing season where people wanted to go experience the better version.

Season 1 increased sales of the first game a lot too:

  • Series 1 Aired in January 2023 to March 2023 to widespread acclaim. HBO's most watched debut series ever, with episodes averaging 32 million viewers
  • It resulted in two spikes in sales for the game. At the launch of the TV series, sales jumped 38% compared with pre-show levels (IDG Intelligence) and then it jumped 75% vs pre-show sales at the end of its run. Possibly the result of people binge watching, or turning to the game after finishing the show
  • In terms of monthly active users, The Last of Us Remastered hit 1.8 million MAUs in January (Ampere data), a rise of over 1,000% month-on-month. Last of Us Part 2 rose 440% in MAUs with 1.4m monthly users, and The Last of Us Part 1 rose 347% to nearly 600,000 players
  • That success continued into February, Last of Us Remastered players jumped 417% again to over 2.2m monthly players, while Part 2 jumped to just shy of 1.6m players, up 178%. However, The Last of Us Part 1 dropped by 62%. The show finished in March, and things began slowing down then, but its monthly user count didn't drop back to pre-show numbers until the summer.
  • Season 2 arrives next week

Interesting MAU metrics, but they don't control for people re-playing the game after watching the show. Based on the TV Show thread, that was a pretty common reaction from a lot of people.
