Wouldn't a Jet Set Radio DS be awesome?

jj984jj

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
You know VV says that their version of THPS:AW was inspired by JSR and after hearing the music for Sonic Rush and seeing VV's game in action I think that this game could work much better on the DS then it did on the GBA. I hope Sega considers bringing the franchise to the DS (and while they are at it, they can also throw in the NiGHTS game they cancelled on the GBA).

Screw a handheld version, I want to play it in HD! But using the touch screen to spray/tag stuff would be pretty cool.

This is the reason why I abhore the DS' underpoweredness. If it had some great 3d power behind it, a JSR game with a stylus would fucking rock, as would so many other concepts for large world 3d games using the stylus. Instead the possibility is limited by Nintendo not going all the way with their innovation and giving it the power under the hood it deserved :|

I hated the shit out of the GBA JSR. Jet Set Radio is a series that only works in 3d. Isometric doesnt cut it at all. A 2d platformer would be too shallow as well.

A Revolution JSR however would be perfect. If that materialised I'd cough up blood, and then begrudgingly get one.

I would love a JSR sequel for the 360 that played like the original. JSRF was fun, but it just wasn't the same.

I think I might have to pull my Dreamcast out and play through JSR again.

Yeah this has been mentioned a million times, but I still have no interest in it, at least from what I saw in the PS2 version. I just don't see the appeal.

What PS2 version of JSR?

And no, a DS version wouldn't be awesome. Next-gen only, folks.

Oh and while I'm here, I'll clear up this potential horrible mess. That GBA NiGHTS was a download through PSO for GC (lol connectivity). Only a mini-game! Not a real game!

Jet Set Radio Future is seriously one of my favorite Xbox games...In the top 10 probably. One day I just might pick up Jet Grind Radio for the GBA in support.

Really? I didn't know that. :(

Yes, wouldn't this graphically stunning game be awesome if ported to the portable with the worst 3D capabilities?

(aside from gba)

No need to troll.

the ds would butcher the music, visuals, and control...BUT YOU COULD WRITE YOUR OWN GRAF ON THE TOUCHSCREEN IT'S SO IMMERSIVE I THINK MY TAG WILL BE A COCK N' BALLS

You know what would be awesome? Jet Set Radio on the X360. Fuck handhelds

How much did JSRF sell on Xbox? We'll be lucky if we ever see another console version again thanx to the "l33t" Xbox owners.

Really, if Tony Hawk can work on portable systems, there's no reason JSR can't. Haven't played the GBA version of it, but the 3D capabilities of the DS are much much much better, obviously. I think it could be done, and done well. I'd rather have it on a next-gen console, yes, but it's more likely to appear on a handheld, considering its success last gen.

uh I think Sega's complete mishandling of the series's evolution (as well as Sega being Sega) is much more to blame for no Jet Set 3 than the Xbox customer base.
Fuck handhelds
oh that feels good
once more
Fuck handhelds
oh yeah

Seriously, so the DS would let people make more accurate tags and in exchange the game gets a downgrade in all forms of graphics and sound? Doesn't sound like a fair trade to me.

Bullshit. That game was awsome, not as good as the first but very much a worthy sequel it was the first game I bought for Xbox. If its not from Tecmo Japanese games sell like shit on the Xbox and it's not because Sega "mishandled" the series its because they chose the wrong platform to put it on. Should of been on a system that gives a damn about Japanese games. Granted it was still pretty early in the consoles life when it bombed but it still could of been ported to deserving consoles after they saw the crappy sales.

Yes. Yes it would be awesome. Something way too awesome to expect from Sega.

Wow, your name and avatar give you a lot more credibility. I literally felt sorry for you. That PS2 title was so goddamned awful, you must really hate them.

Edit: I know that reads as if it were sarcastic, but I'm serious.

I don't care what system it's on. I'd prefer next-gen, or at least any disc-based system for music reasons, but JSR is more about art than technology, and could be made to work anywhere.

I'm afraid I'll buy whatever system it comes out on. That's how I became an Xbox owner (thanks for packing in the only game I cared about, MS!)

Disagree.

By taking out the tag motions and tension w/ the police, they eliminated any reason to even play the game in the first place.

Haha, I didn't think it was that bad, but yes...

Sega: Lose all hope.

Yeah, but the graphics would not be good. It would have to be on PS3.
Hey, go do this for an hour or two:

Oh god no! Look, I love the DS, but if there is one series that shouldn't go handheld, it's JSR.

Go back to the original, forget that shitty Future iteration, bigger cities, better graphics, more tricks/moves.

Get this right, Sega. Then we can talk about a DS version...

I agree with Sporsk a Revolution JSR would be awesome.

and yeah fuck handhelds for this game.

Really? Ep I & II Plus or the regular Ep I & II?

Er.. JSR has already gone handheld and it was good. I have no doubt it would be great on DS if they got the same people who did the GBA one on it.

Especially after seeing Tony Hawk.

Manabanana is right, I think. The DS is great for cel-shaded games.
No, it's really not.

It's not bad, by any means, but ALL OTHER viable platforms (outside of GBA) could and would be able to do a better job than the DS. There's no reason for it to be created for the DS.

I want a next-gen JSR. :(

I think the DS could offer just a diferent experience, not better or worse, just diferent. Wasn´t this game supposed to be about drawing painting on the wall?

However, I think if anything, the perfect home for this game would be Revolution.
