Aside from the fact that Traylor probably wasn't a drug addict, don't you think the drugs are tied to what happens in the ring? I mean, landing on a plywood wrestling ring day after day is really hard on a person's body. A lot of times, wrestlers get hooked on drugs trying to deal with the daily pain they feel. The point it, it's a very hard life and I don't know if you can blame the wrestlers because a lot of them become addicts.

Come on the only person you can blame for being an addict is the addict. The roids are killing them faster then the pain-killers.

Heh, just note the eras they wrestled in, compared to the one the 45 and under guys who have passed on have wrestled in...kinda obvious what the big difference is.

"(His wife) saw him sleeping on the couch, and bent down to kiss him on the forehead, and felt he was cold." said a tearful friend of the family, only identified as Bobbi Jo. "And she asked him 'do you want a cover?'. And he didn't answer."

God...that's just awful.

I don't blame them...not completely anyway. Ultimately they're still responsible, but the life makes it difficult to turn 'roids down, and it makes it almost impossible to turn painkillers down. The life of a wrestler is about as lonely and tough as it gets in the entertainment business. You're on the road for two hundred days a year, and unless you're one of the top stars you can't afford to miss many days otherwise you lose your spot (and a decade ago that meant losing money...that's alleviated somewhat now with guaranteed contracts). So you take the roids to keep the sort of shape that the promoters like to see, and you live on painkillers in order to wake up the next day and get back into the grind, which I think is the most likely source of his sad fate. It'd be easy to say that they shouldn't become part of the life if they can't take it, but I gotta think the wrestling life itself is an addiction in itself...having the ability to make fans cheer or boo you is the ultimate adrenaline rush.

This is why I didn't blame Brock Lesnar for leaving WWE...unless you're 100% dedicated to it, or have a 100% total love for wrestling, there's no need to put yourself through that grind.

I really prefered wrestling in the '80, the wrestlers were much funnier and they had all sorts of wild personalities and suits, now, when i stumbled on Raw or whtaever on tv, I cant difference the new guys, and they all look like a bunch of generic thugs. THey have no personality at all.

No way a Von Erich made it that long.

Fritz died in his late 60s early 70s I believe. His kids with the exception of Kevin at least at the moment, on the other hand are a different story. I'm sure none of them made it past 35.

I agree. Personally I feel the WWF killed wrestling, at least for me. I loved the regional leagues that were around back in the day. The guys while colorful where not cartoonish.

The TV shows were better in the 80s because it was about the fueds between two or more wrestlers. There wasn't all this crap about vice presidents, general managers and corporations versus one wrestler bullshit that you see Vince recycling over and over and over and over. There used to be good build-ups back in the day to where you actually could believe that two guys hated one another so you were interested in an actual outcome of a match. Which also worked hand in hand with having only a few pay per view specials because the matches would make for pretty good, big event status. Now, it's like who cares who wins a match because they rush through them so they can have some guy come and stand in the ring for half an hour talking on a microphone. And with a pay-per-view every 3 weeks, there's no real importance on any of the big time matches, at least not like it used to be.

Yeah, back then feuds and stories were better and more fun. I remember when the Million Dollar Man tried to buy the WWF world title and after being denied he had a bogus WWF title made for him which if my memory serves correct he only wore a few times, then he made himself the Million Dollar Belt.

Stuff like that was funny and harmless. Remember the time in the '80 ( warning: my memory is kinda blurry about this particular exemple, it happened a while ago you know :D ) when Hulk Hogan was at the hospital (or on a bed), and then Elizabeth was right next to him, Macho Man came up and he was like "What are you doing standing next to him like that!" then he pushed her and she fell to the ground :lol. Hogan came out of his coma (or whatever) and just got up and said "The Hulkter will not tolerate violence against women!" :lol and he body slammed Macho Man, and then the hospital guards (?) came and stopped the fight. That stuff was harmless, clean, and Hulk Hogan was a hero to kids back then.

I remember thinking how badl Macho Man was because he pushed Eli, and how cool Hulk was because he stood up for her and bla bla bal.

If they tried this today, it would involve people getting beaten up with props baseball bats and chairs by "gangstas" in some phoney parking lot backdrop while some bimbo yells shit and swear and then some other pornstar looking bimbo would come and rip her top off and then they would have a mud fight and then one of the guy would start freestyling in the background. And then the main babyface would come and start a 5 minutes speech about how they are all motherfuckers and how Vince is such a son of a bitch. Kids are watching this, they dont need to see bar brawls and dirty street fights.

Holy shit its so retarded now.

:lol

My favourite wrestling era was late 96 to late 97. The fued with Bret and Austin, and the subsequent Canada/US fued, was about as good as it got.
