My back had been killing for sometime and so i finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with athritis. I thought athritis only affected older people. This sucks

25 IS old! It's all downhill after 21 man.

On a serious note: Sorry to hear about that man. My sister has arthritis in one of her hands and she is the same age as you.

I just recently pulled out my back and when I went for x-rays, my orthopedist said that they can find early traces of arthritis in young people, if not find it altogether.

The doc said i have lower back athritis and the pain is unbearable sometimes. I play basketball all the time and one time the pain was so bad that i felt paralyzed for a few minutes and the thought that i am going to be living with pain for the rest of my life is driving me nuts.

I don't think I have arthritis but my sternum periodically cracks every so often. It's slightly painful at times, but is quickly relieved when i stretch and pop my neck.

I had it too when I was 19, some nights I couldn't even sleep. I can not stress the importance of pilates enough and the benifit it had for me.

I've had mild rheumatoid arthritis since I was 25. Sucks, especially when they stick that monster needle in my knee to drain it. It definitely makes karate classes tough since sitting on my knees = AGONY DELUXE.

I had to bump this thread to state my case. I am a 27 year old male and I had been having pains in my foot in the winter time for the last couple years.Everytime I would go to the doctor they would just prescribe me some pain pills and shove me back out the door. Well I went to the hospital after not being able to walk becuase my foot was too swollen and the doctor gave me the bad news...arthritis.Up until yesterday I thought it was just an "old persons disease", but there are over 8 million people from 18-44 with it in the US alone. So now I have to have a major change in diet and constant rest and elevation..last time my foot was swollen I couldnt go to work for 2 weeks :(

Omg, I'm 27 and I'm pretty much in the same boat. I had back surgery a few months back and now I'm having what you call tendonitis of my hands (I was actually afraid it'll be athritis) and was given painkillers and went on my way. How do you know when its athristis on your hands?

like other people have said, its actually alot more common in the young than most people think. i knew a few people through primary/high school with it, my mum has it too. sucks.

What kinda arthritis is it?

I know there's psoriatic arthritis... not sure which one I'd prefer... the current skin affecting psoriasis or the arthritic version.

... either way, it's bad news... although I've had mine for quite a while now :/

My sisters two daughters both have been diagnosed with arthritis. One of them has it in the knees, the other in the eyes.

Its quite sad as they are both under the age of 7, yet if you met them you'd never guess they were suffering cause they're just so damn happy all the time !! :lol

MSM is supposed to be effective at treating arthritis/joint pain. Maybe look into it and give it a shot? Also supposed to give you better skin and nicer hair, too, so...eh.

Be thankful it's not Sciattica.

That shit hurts.

i've got that in my right hip, and i'm 26.

sends shooting pains down my leg when it flairs up, and i have to limp around.

the doctor basically said "well, dont do anything to make it flair up"

My dad has arthritis in both his hips and his back and hands. He ended up having to go out on permanent disability because he just couldn't function correctly any more.

Don't get arthritis.
