Okay, I've heard of the word many times. I know who and what it is associated with. I just don't understand the origin of the word or how the word was formed. Where or what did it come from?

You have C R U N K as letters and a vocal sound that is similiar to a car missing a gear shift.

So the form of the word, was it like.. crush and junk forms crunk? Crushed junk is crunk?
Or is it like crumbs plus punk, crumby punks are crunk. Perhaps crunch plus ..lick? Crunchlink = crunk? My best guess as the inspiration for the word is the combination of two classic party time flavors. Booze and drugs.

Cocaine + drunk = crunk. If you are drunk off your ass snorting cocaine lines then you are as 'it' as crunk?

Am I close here? Seriously, what the hell is with this word.

Depends how it's used. Referring to music it's a mixture of rap and funk. Referring a person, it's pretty much telling them to get "crazy" or to get drunk/high etc.

Depends of the context...

-"Get Crunk" as in "Get Crunk in the club" Basically means get hype, get rowdy.
-You may also hear "Get Crunk" when people are about to fight..Means don't be a pussy, hit someone, beat his ass etc..

"The Club was crunk/The Party was crunk/ Whatever Event was crunk" The event was had alot going on and was alot of on, it was wild.

"Get some Crunk in your system"...Originally means drink some "Crunk Juice" which is a mixture of Crunk Juice energy drink(Lil Jon's energy drink brand) and Hennesy. But it has sincce evolved to mean just drink liqour period.

"That Guy isn't crunk"- The guy just stands around in the club doesn't have fun..or in terms of fighting, the guy is a pussy, he isn't going to do shit.

"Call that girl..shes crunk"-The girl is a freak(sexually), she'll likey give you some ass,head, or do some other wild shit.

Back in oh 90 or 91 in Atlanta when people were saying off the hook there was a variant that was off the crank (as in crankshaft). Which meant the party was wild. Then people went to saying we are going to go to this party and crank it up then from there people would would say crunk (which was a slang past tense of crank) and then the term just stuck by about 92 it was common phrase.

After that it was applied to any situation it is the slang equilvent of smurf.
