It's funny, we were discussing this irl today. Safeway is actually an American chain out of California. Many Canadians think it's a Canada based chain.

We have Safeway, Food Lion, Giant, Mars, Super Fresh, Weis, and a bunch of others in Maryland. No Vons though.... but for some reason I always see people mention Vons on msg boards. Are they like the largest grocer in the country or something?
