18 days? You're kidding me.

Lots of movies are shot in under that timeframe.

For example Ryuhei Kitamura's Azumi and Aragami were both supposedly shot in a single week as part of a "who can make the best film in a week" battle with the director of 2LDK (forgot the name).

A movie I've never heard of was done in a week as part of a contest? Well that's amazing.

Yeah, but... Azumi isn't part of that equation at all. You're thinking of Aragami and "The Messenger", his entry into the first Jam Films collection of shorts. It was doable because both movies use the same actors (and Aragami only uses three or four, one of which is that dude that's in all Kitamura movies so he doesn't count), and Aragami only takes place in one single room.

Oh, and Aragami and 2LDK were made as challenges from the producer of Jam Films, as they both finished their shorts way too fast. I can see why -- both were some of the worst work in JF.

Nobody liked Saw? I think it's on of the most original 'horror'-movies in a long while. Simply excellent in my humble opinion.

And surprisingly both kickass. Aragami doesn't have all the typical Kitamura over the top wackiness which is kind of cool. The end fight in it is pretty awesome also, although I like 2LDK better just because of how brutal the fight scenes are.

I liked it. Although I dont think its original, as its HEAVILY influenced by Italian giallo (Argento,Fulci,Bava) , Hitchcock and a bit of Fincher thrown in. Some of the acting is ass ( Leigh Whannell should stay out of his future movies please), and I guess the convulted plot could be a negative for some, but since I love Itallian giallo movies I cant complain on either count.

Saw had it moments. I didn't see the twist coming at all and I'm usually good about figuring out the twists 5-10 minutes into a movie. Elwes' acting at the end had me and the entire theatre rolling in the ailes though. Glover was pretty funny too in some parts. I'll probably catch this one on DVD.
