WTF? WoW found its match?

Or maybe they leveled their Dragoon/Dark Knight/Monk/Samurai into the 60s only to realize that there are too many damage dealers, that only a certain combination of classes work for a party, and that they're going to have to spend the rest of their FFXI lives sitting in jueno LFG. I have literally watched as SquareEnix nerfed the shit out of Dragoons with each and every patch. Then I watched as my own in game friends refused to party with me because my class was insanely gimped. Then I watched (well I didn't really watch, I actually left for hours at a time to do other things) as my Dragoon sat in Jeuno for 8+ hours at a time LFG and never once getting an invite. The way FFXI is structured is you spend months leveling whatever your favorite class is for months and months at a time. Then you get to 60+ and realize that unless you picked the optimal class way back when, you're pretty much fucked..

Dragoons have a place in a PT, so do Sams, Monks and Dark Knight. I've pt'ed with all jobs at various times on a semi-static basis post 60 and they all can fit in a PT. Darks when played right can make a Ninja tank happy. They can virtually stop AoE attacks midway and when hasted, they can be even more effective.

You're mistake was leveling 3 melee jobs to lvl 60 and still not having 1 single friend, either it be a paladin, a ranger, a bard, a red mage, a white mage, a black mage, heck even a thief to form a static with you. The game doesn't let you level that fast, you should have had plenty of time to figure out that the best way to level post 60 when the general popular drops down and it can take even a high demand job like a white mage 2-5 hours to find a PT is to have friends. The point of FFXI is to build a support network, to have friends and to do things together. That's why people who want to do everything for themselves don't like the game and quit, which is fine by me, because they tend to be the same inconsiderate people who leave a party midway without notice, and do all sorts of selfish things.

You'll always need the core of a tank, 2-3 support (whm, blm, rdm or brd) and 2-3 DD. If you attach yourself to either a tank or one of the support jobs, you can get to 75 no problem. In fact, most DDs form their own PTs and you'll be surprised how many lazy support jobs (red mages, white mages and black mages) just put up their flag and wait because THEY CAN! Take advantage of that and grab them.

Anyways I'm sorry you had a terrible time LFG.

I never said I took all those jobs to 60. I took dragoon to 64. There is no way I was going to try to take another class to 60+ after that hell, let alone another damage dealing class. I took a war/nin to 40, and yeah, that was fun. I also had a red mage and samurai to 30. But I really loved Dragoon and that's the class I wanted to play. I realized it was dumb that I felt I had to compromise in order to play a fucking videogame, and for that reason I quit. And I had friends, they just didn't want to party with a dragoon. I actually had a bard friend who refused to be in a party unless it had 2 rangers in it. I'm not kidding. And you know what? He could get away with it. Why? Because that stupid fucking game is based around 2 classes. NO ONE will party without either a bard or a red mage in their group (or I guess summoner now too). The fact that Square made end game leveling extremely inefficient without one of those two(which, coincidentally, are the two least fun classes to play) in your party is a huge flaw. If you love the game, that's fine. But I moved on to WoW and I am now much happier.

P.S. I always play in groups in WoW now. So don't try to play the "well maybe you just don't have any friends and you're better off playing solo" card.

Had a blast playing through the catacombs a few nights back with some friends. It was a great place to get some exp quick, but we were both fourth level, and I was a monk, which deal good damage to th Undead. Some of the rooms down in the Catacombs are wicked. We were doing the Moa bird quest and walked into the room with all the candles, and got attacked by two pit fiends. Wicked stuff.

If that is a Local Hero reference, you sir are a fucking god. That is all.

It's a reference to A Street Car Named Desire you uncultured swine! ;) And quoting Brando still gets you ranked as a god! :)

Bump for Guild Wars and WoW! THEY CAN LIVE TOGETHER?!?!

Some pics from tonight. Me and a level 21 hunter were hunting down level 24/25 mobs for quest crap. I needed help with the red, and I can tank like a crazy bastard so it worked out for everyone. Got a level and a bunch of money.

Took the money and completed my cool level 19 gear. Who knows how colorblind this poor warrior will get in the future tho :(

So far, I like Guild Wars better than either Diablo 2 or WoW.

Diablo 2 didn't have visually interesting levels, and it had too far too little content, aside from the loot system.

Guild Wars PvP is much better than Diablo 2 or WoW. Limiting it to a few people (team vs. team) allows you to use tactics, and every fight is a fair one.

The skill system makes the game a lot like Magic: the Gathering. You can experiment with a lot of different combinations (unlike Diablo 2, where you have to have a "build" in place fomr the start, or you are irrevocably wasting points) and go with the one that best fits your party and the mission ahead.

Negatives - The loot in Guild Wars is pretty boring. Also, the environments are very good looking, but they are sterile. Very little interaction with it (you can't even jump).

WoW--well...1-50 it's a single player game, and there are many superior single player rpg's out there. 51-60 it's raiding and loot runs, and there are games that do that better, too. So I don't play it anymore.

1-50 in WoW is a single-player game if you're a paladin or if you like crap gear. Most of the good loot in WoW is bind on pickup.

I won't argue with you on 51-60 raiding. Other games do have more content. But, every MMORPG game has a plethora of huge bugs in their end-game instances that never get fixed too. However, the 5-man 51-60 instances in WoW are pretty damn fun and challenging.

As a warrior ive had to group more. I mean I deal solid damage, but a lot of my quests are against mobs stationed in groups and that always gets real risky.

It is mostly soloing...level 40 with only 2 parties for instances so far. Level grind is all solo. :\

That's your choice though, there are a lot of party quests that you've probably skipped in between.

So wait, you can multi-class in Guild Wars?
yes.. you can take two classes. the limitations are that each class has a primary skill which you can't get for your secondary class. otherwise your secondary class gives you the same skills and benefits as if it was your primary class.

I don't get MAF or Drinky.

I do; they're in the prison that is the universe, and the inmate called Life has repeatedly raped them.

The rapings caused an instantaneous bunching of any panties they attempt to put on.
