Look forward to this every year. Especially playing around with the new OS X version once it gets stable enough. I'm still calling that they call it "Monterey". It's California related and has a neat ring to it. So crossing fingers.

Hoping that this is where iOS and OS X become streamlined enough. No, I don't mean make OS X like iOS and vice versa. I mean just clean up all the cruft left over. Mavericks is obviously unfinished coming from the wake of the big Forestall ousting so hopefully the OS X team has been put back in place and has come up with some neat stuff and better integration with iOS. While iOS 8 will be a refining of iOS 7.

Two months is way too far away.

I can't wait for the nerd meltdowns about it being called 10.10 instead of 11.0.
This too. I already had to clear this up on Twitter once when someone said "OS X 10.10 = OS X 10.1." No. That's not how computer versions work! They're not decimals.

Will we ever get Mac OS 11?
We don't need OS 11. Just think of OS X 10.0 as a new start and different kind of Mac OS, which it was. OS X 10.9 is basically the OS 9 of this new Mac OS generation. So OS 10.10 will be like 10.0, 10.11 will be like 11.0. There doesn't need to be an "OS XI" or "OS 11". OS X is already robust as it is. The only reason X was any different was because it was such a big departure from the classic Mac OS. The X and "10" is just branding. Especially since the X initially signified that it was Unix based whereas the Classic Mac OS was old and busted.

There's no reason to make it graduate to 11. If there ever is an 11 it will be because the architecture is so radically different from what we have now that it requires a new version number. Until then, 10.11 will be our version 11.0.

I always look forward to the new Mac OS and iOS reveals.

As always, still hoping for some better inter-app communication and data sharing in iOS. I’m also still hoping for better metadata editing on iOS for music. realistically, I don’t expect either...

I expect that Mac OS will evolve its look to be more flat like iOS 7. If nothing else, reminders app has to change. No idea on what Mac OS user features they may add.

Yup. OS X ("ten") is the brand. The brand itself is so important that it's officially called "OS X" now, rather than "Mac OS X" as it used to be.

That said, if Apple felt the need, they could even version it "OS X 11.0", and make even more Sheldon Cooper types go insane.

Now, when will we get a new file system? HFS+ is getting pretty old.

Sheldon Cooper types are the worst. So fake.

Katie Cotton has already confirmed that they're Apple TVs and apps.
All I want is an App Store on the Apple TV and they have my money. Otherwise I'm going Roku. But I've said that before already.

Makes sense. I thought it was apps, but now I realize the Apple TV is that shape too.

How'd she confirm it?

Also, I hope apps work on the 3rd gen Apple TV. Don't really want to go out and buy a new one quite yet.

Games also need to be available, because Amazon got the jump on them with that. (I'd love universal games: Buy once, run on iPhone and Apple TV.)

Weird that it's almost been a year already since iOS7 was announced.

Can't wait for Apple to invent fitness, huehuehue.

Damn. The picture could represent a whole bunch of things. Apple TV, apps on Apple TV, iWatches, new iOS apps (iOS 8)...

I'm pretty glad this is taking place a week ahead of E3. Last year simply had to many great press conferences in one single day (WWDC keynote, Sony, Microsoft [and sure: Ubisoft and EA]).

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Really hope OSX adopts the look of iOS. I'm not interested in a mobile OS on my desktop; but I do like the universal "feel" of Windows across all of MS's devices, for example.

Not just in line with iOS 7, OSX as a whole looks more inconsistent and disjointed than ever. I liked how they went to a more clean look for calendar, but then there's Gamecenter which still looks super skeuomorphic.

I hope they moved people over to the OSX camp now that iOS7 is done, and iOS8 seems very iterative.

Agreed. But I don't want them to go crazy. Just take some design cues from iOS and unify the OSes. At least tweak the apps that have different UI colors between all three versions like Notes and Reminders. Oh and Game Center.

We know nothing about 8...

I think the only thing I want out of Apple right now is a proper Surface competitor, but knowing Apple it'll be priced close to 2 grand.

I hate to bump this just to ask, but when will the official WWDC 2014 thread be going up? There's less than two weeks left.

Also, will the keynote be on Monday the 2nd? I'll probably want to request it off for no reason at all other than to sit around reading live blogs and the GAF thread for 2 hours.

Apple making a hybrid device like that running OS X? I can't possibly imagine that happening, especially since the Surface hasn't exactly been a blockbuster hit.

Yeah, OSX would have to be a bare minimum, but I don't think they'll do that.

To be quite frank, I don't even want an iPad that I can use as a drawing tablet either. It needs to run a full OS.

Oh shit, I forgot that it's coming up soon :p I'm just finishing it up and will have it up in a day or so (hopefully). Yeah, the keynote is the first day of WWDC.
