WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

Your best bet is to wait until Black Friday.

With the history of these games going on sale I don't know why anyone wouldn't wait until Black Friday. It is always $29.99. By all accounts you would be better off downloading online created wrestlers for 2k14 and just doing that. It's a better legends roster and the game isn't gimped.

Is this the first time IGN has given the main WWE game a negative review?

This is Canada. US review will probably give it 8+

IGN.ca said:
WWE 2K15 is like seeing Brock Lesnar going from breaking the Undertaker's streak to losing to Hornswoggle during the pre-show in back-to-back WrestleManias. Not only is it surprising, it's also pretty sad. I would frequently grab my copy of last year's grappler with the intent to quickly check some changes, only to find myself reluctant to switch back due to the far better roster and single-player experience. Do yourself a favor, save your money, and buy WWE 2K14. The minor improvements to combat and commentary in 2K15 don't even come close to making up for what was lost.

Good.

2k done fucked up by delaying the current-gen version. Now the last-gen version is getting reviewed and everyone's thinking that's the score for the new version. Gonna cost them sales. Even in this thread people are confused.

"Who's the greatest wrestler of all time? The Undertaker? Bret "The Hitman" Hart? The stylin', profilin', limousine riding Nature Boy Ric Flair? Or what about the Peoples Champ The Rock?
See, the WWE is about a diverse cast of characters. Just like here at IGN. So while we see many of the points of our Canadian counterparts we give WWE2k15 a slobberknocking 11/10.

If you don't think so, you should just know your role and shut your mouth

This game is god awful. Spoilers very 1st match in game there was insane and terrible glitches, AFTER a day one patch.

NBA 2K14 blew me away last year and that was ready at launch and feaure packed. UFC came out this year and blew me away and that is their first shot on the new systems. Pretty much every sports franchise did better their first try than what it looks like Yukes is doing.
Go ask the NBA fans who buy the game every year or are a fan of the series how they felt about next-gen NBA 2K14. Madden is another one that was poor.

IGN already gave the game a 5.9. I don't know what you're talking about.

He's talking about regional reviews. I know UK and Australia do them, he was under the impression Canada did as well since it goes to ca.ign.com.

Have there been radically different regional reviews from IGN in the past? I expect a few FIFA games but anything other than that?

automatically redirects you to your regions IGN though, so I doubt it's a region specific review.

Expecting 7.2 for current gen review. I'm not that big into the wrestling games anymore, and with DA:I releasing same day it's in no buy territory regardless of quality, but this has put my friend into full panic mode. He's clutching on for dear life to the current gen versions having all the effort put into them. The Universe cuts and roster shrink have hit him hard. He'll probably buy it regardless though 'cause dub dub.

I expect current gen will get an 8.

I dunno, most of the reviews that used to score it highly did so quite often due to the wealth of custom options. If career mode is good (and Universe can actually be semi-booked properly this year with those story additions), it may get 8's and the like.

Dunno, I may get some fun out of this with the low low price of £0.00

The custom options are what kept me coming back every year. I'm willing to give the next gen version a little leeway this year since it's making some changes as they transition to new consoles. Yeah, the custom options were definitely the big reason for the high scores, even with glitches and disappointing gameplay, into a fun sandbox experience.

With that stripped I can definitely see the scores being lower. IGN scored WWE 2k14 an 8.7, I don't expect even the next gen version to get that unless MyCareer is something special.

I dunno, I still think there is hope for the next-gen version. The gameplay is getting tweaked with some new additions, the graphics look stellar so far in trailers, and the deep new career mode sounds great from impressions so far. I'm in the minority but I'm still hyped for this game.

So based on what we know so far. We're expecting the next-gen version to be the last-gen versions, but with better graphics, MyCareer and some gameplay tweaks?

That's everything different right?

Yeah, unless the creation suite has a few extra features reserved for next gen. I doubt it though.

The 5.9 review from IGN is not surprising, people still have the idea reviewers give all big games 8+ scores from like 4 years ago, it's time people moved on from that.

By stellar graphics, do you mean slightly better than PS3 because that's what I'm seeing? By that I mean other PS3 games and not WWE on PS3. 2k on PS3 looks like slightly better PS2 game. Entrances look good until it switches to gameplay.

If the deep CAW suite is still in tact, it's still pretty solid. That's what made the community fun. 2K would be killing a lot of their fanbase by dialing back so much of the customization for arenas, wrestlers, etc. Ditching CAF to me isn't a biggie - it was broken and needed an overhaul.

Game looks a lot better than PS3. The scanned players are definitely noticeable. Lighting looks like a huge improvement too.

I'm hoping we can still create outrageous looking CAWS in the new suite.

If the gameplay is passable, they're good enough... Once you tell everyone you play with they can't be Rock or Bryan because of how awful they look.

I have very little faith the gameplay will be passable though. Still, if the match ratings work and are in both Universe and MyCareer, I'll enjoy myself. Hell, MDickies games both look and play worth and I can never put them down for a few weeks.

Now we just need to poke some competent Japanese devs to do a PS4 NJPW game and be done with this series for another generation...

I will be extremely surprised if the CAW feature is anywhere close to 2k14. I thought it was a given that it was going to be dialled back with the change to the new engine, but from a few sources who went to the MyCareer preview event, it was really limited. Like 12 hairstyles limited. Hoping that was just for the preview.

I guess a Japanese dev making a new NJPW game is a realistic possibility at this point. A rival for Yukes' engine coming out of Japan is just what we need.

At this point the only New Japan game you're going to see is something based on their trading card game for phones, which I think already exists.

Can anyone grab a screencap of how Sting looks in this version? I'm curious to see how bad the 90's and Crow Sting look without the 2K face scan.

they look leaps and bounds better than the PS3 version to me, the facial scanning alone is a huge improvement, not to mention the cool little details we will see in 1080p which youtube videos haven't been able to show us yet. The next-gen versions also have all the new animations that were captured, can't wait to see those.

Eh, there's been surprises before. I'll take a fake-fed wrestling game if someone can do a decent engine.

The game looks much better than the PS3 version of course. I mean compared to other PS4 sports games it pales in comparison.

Character models look better than MLB: The Show or NHL 15. NBA 2k is the benchmark right now for the level of quality and I don't think they are hitting that.

I don't play enough FIFA to really compare.
