I keep telling myself Punk will win via some revelation/reveal/whatever involving The Shield, then lose it to Ziggs somehow via cash in... but I should know better. Rock is absolutely fine without a title around his waist, so I don't understand why they would put it on him.

Punk has the WWE Title, Ziggler has the WHC briefcase. See how that would be a problem?

'Boring' chants get on my tits. Mainly because whenever it's chanted it's a couple of smarks in the fifth row and nobody else. If you don't like what you're watching go to the toilet, get a snack or something.

Even better, don't buy tickets to the event.

"Boring" chants have their place, unfortunately WWE crowds are terrible people who pay money to sit on their hands and save their vocal chords for recording an R&B album after the show....

My point is they suck.

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz
WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
World Heavyweight Championship (Last Man Standing Match): Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show
WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. The Rock
WrestleMania XXIX 30-Man Royal Rumble: Batista

Mayhem was definitely being sold on Bret's back, but none of the other Canada shows they did were. At NBR, Bret was unannounced and unadvertised and showed up only to congratulate Lance Storm after the match. Nitro the next night was in BC and had no Bret at all. Lance was the only advertised Canadian for those shows.

Nitro airing on Wednesdays in Canada probably didn't help matters.

Wrestlemania 29:

Batista vs. The Rock
John Cena vs. Undertaker
Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk

Wrestlemania 30:

Batista vs. Brock Lesnar
The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels
John Cena vs. Stone Cold

Biggest drawing Wrestlemanias ever, guaranteed. Don't want to see CM Punk vs. Stone Cold. It's waste of Austins last match. John Cena is still shit though.

In an ideal world though, this triple main event would have taken place:

Batista vs. Stone Cold
John Cena vs. The Rock
Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar

No bigger triple main event could ever be possible currently. This would be too big. But they have already wasted The Rock and Cena.

The problem isn't even that they're sitting on their hands and saving their vocal cords.
It's that they're NOT doing that during Cena segments and they are doing that during everything else.

I don't even...

I know, you're speechless. Looking at it from a drawing perspective, they are the biggest matches possible.

If Austin comes back, I'd rather he have the biggest match possible, or just not come back at all. His last match was a nice exit as it is. It would be best against a heel Cena who isn't smirking and ruining feuds though.

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz
Hate the Miz and love Cesaro.

WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
As much as I love Team Friendship, it's starting to get stale and they just graduated so...

World Heavyweight Championship (Last Man Standing Match): Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show
I don't think they know what to do with Big Show anymore.

WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. The Rock
Wouldn't be surprised if Punk wins it though. I think he'll lose because of The Shield.

WrestleMania XXIX 30-Man Royal Rumble: Bork Laser
Actually it'll probably be Cena, but I still want Bork to win.

And they'd be awful matches.

Seriously, are you a wrestling fan or are you a WWE stock holder? DO you want the best and most entertaining matches and feuds for WM, and WM 30 no less, or the "biggest marquee" in a literal sense (that is "match up this random big name to this other random big name")?

Punk vs. Austin is a dream match on every level (and is a big match, most certainly). Cena vs. Austin makes no sense, they have nothing in common, and it would be a crap match.

I would find Austin vs. Cena infinitely more entertaining. The thought of Austin whooping Cenas ass all over the place is great. CM Punk isn't going to work some magic with a 48 year old Austin and get a great match out of him. It'll come down a lot to crowd interaction and big spots.

Hey Ithil are you forgetting that it's all about THIS BUSINESS™?

Why wouldn't he get a good match going? That's what Punk is great at, adapting to his opponent to make the match exciting. A 48 year old Austin punch-kicking Cena a lot is supposed to be a an entertaining main event for WM 30?

Not to mention, Austin and Punk are far superior at doing crowd interactions than Cena. What would be the basis of the feud? What would their promos be about? "Hello John, I'm Steve Austin, we have nothing in common and have no history together, let's a a WM match for some reason!"?

sg-CMpunk13.jpg

Meanwhile Punk vs. Austin has similar characters, opposing viewpoints, lots of little building from over the years, compatible in-ring styles, a reason for Austin to want to come back just to fight him, etc.

I do not get it.

I'll make a prediction for RR, because why not.

United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz
WWE Tag Team Championships: Team Hell No vs. Team Rhodes Scholars
World Heavyweight Championship (Last Man Standing Match): Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show + Dolph Ziggler successful cash in.
WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. The Rock
WrestleMania XXIX 30-Man Royal Rumble: Daniel Bryan

Putting over that young talent.

WWE should be looking forward. Not back.
They should be doing that the other 51 weeks of the year. Their young talent is not even credible because of how bad their booking is. A sudden match with a star like Austin or Rock isn't going to make them credible. It'll just be a flop. Cena, CM Punk, Orton, etc. should be helping create these stars. But then Cena basically buries everyone, so maybe once he's gone, there'll be some progress.

Yeah, going to disagree there. I hate Cena but CM Punk isn't better than him in that aspect at all.

You create a reason. Austin is the complete opposite of what Cena's character is. That's a clash in personality right off the bat. It's not hard to create a feud out of that. Then add in that Austn was the face of the previous era, and Cena is the face of the modern era. Then add in that Austin is considered by many as the greatest WWE star of all time, and WWE has basically force fed Cena as Superman. There is enough potential there.

WM sold so much last year because people who stopped watching came back to see The Rock, I know I did.

What better way to make sales, plus have a brilliant match than to do Autin v Rock.

Oh and John Cena is a fucking joke. How the hell this guy is still a main eventer i will never understand. Is there a reason hes so highly promoted? (Stopped watching at the end of the attitude era so im not too familiar with Cena or his history in the company)

Man, forget this. Fuck both Cena and CM Punk.

I want Batista vs. Stone Cold. A brawl like Batista and Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23. Only this time, more finishers, barricades and announcers tables destroyed, and motherfucking beer all over the place.

I swear to god it's a mystery to me why people want Batista and Goldberg back in the wwe so much, especially Goldberg.

Austin hasn't wrestled since 2003, Rock has wrestled two matches in the last seven years. That would be a bad match, a pointless match given their last WM match was a perfect ending to their feud, and it would spit in the face of their younger talent, not to mention waste Austin's last match on a rematch from a decade ago, and reek of desperation on the WWE's part.

Sure, it would sell some tickets, and get the crowd going, but is that all you want? A high buyrate? You'll get people back for Austin alone, while giving him a feud that deserves to happen in CM Punk.

Create a vague reason...this is what I'm talking about. It's forced and makes no sense. Rock vs. Cena made since, they were similar superstars in their way, with similar career paths (only Cena stayed on to stink up the joint while Rock retired) and, on paper, ideal opponents (the build was in fact total dogshit, but that's the WWE's fault for wanting to keep both men tame faces).

You put Austin in the ring with a mic against Cena, Cena will end up looking like a total goon. Austin is NOT Rock, he and Punk are similar on the mic, intense and passionate, and while they both have their wit, they are generally serious. I'm just not getting this. It still feels horribly forced just to get "big name" vs "big name" without any thought as to how or why. The reason of "yeah let's see Stone Cold beat on Cena!" sounds like one of those "thumbs up if u agree" youtube commenters who swear because their parents aren't watching about how they should bring back da Attitude Era and all the guys from back then should beat up the guys from today because...they liked those old guys when they were a kid or something.

Cena vs. Austin sounds like a computer came up with it based on number calculations, Punk vs. Austin feels like a destined match.

Cena sells to kids and women. He is still the big attraction to house shows, so WWE needs to keep him around for that. There is a reason the guy holds the world record for most Make a Wish foundation wish granting.

Austin vs Punk is definitely the dream match, the promos will be amazing. Would be Y2J vs HBK level of feud.

A part timer who wrestles more in one night than you do in a lifetime!!

You're not a wrestler, are you? Disregard what I said if you are.

I just want to see it because its the match i want to see. I loved watching The Rock last year, the only bad part was John Cena being involved. Fuck that guy, holy shit he is so brong to watch. I was just making a point about sales, that the match I want to see would sell. I dont really care if it sells or not, I just want to see that match.

I realise im pretty much alone in this, I dont watch anymore so have no idea who Cena or Punk are.

Holy shit didnt realise that. Im very surprised. But, Hes so bad??? Its baffling.

Vince is senile and in his own world, he keeps Cena on top because he's lost the plot and thinks Cena is the answer to all his problems. Cena is terribly booked and overpushed, puts out terrible promos, and has instant win endings to all his matches. He absolutely sucks.

On people not knowing who Cena or Punk is, that's kind of their problem, not WWE's, Punk and Cena have been in the WWE longer than Rock was, or even Austin for that matter.

Like I said, Austin alone would bring people back, you said yourself you came back just for Rock. Do you want to see Cena acting like a dope while Austin internally sighs, or do you want to see Punk taking this seriously? You might not know who Punk is, but it's worth finding out.

The point of these matches is not to pop a big buyrate for WM and that's it. If you saw WM 30 with Rock/Austin IV, and whoever won, would you be back the next night for RAW? I doubt it, given neither man will be there beyond a week or two after the PPV. On the other hand, for example anyway, you see WM 30 with Austin/Punk, and find yourself being quite entertained by Punk, and so you might find yourself tuning into RAW the next night to see more of him, and before you know it you're getting to know others on the roster and liking them, then you're a fan again. Rock/Cena didn't do much of that, because Cena is an unentertaining goon, but do you know how many former fans returned after CM Punk's "pipebomb" promo in 2011? It was a lot.

I'm saying a lot on this subject but it seems important to me to not rely on the past so much.

They should do Orton vs HHH at Mania, those two aren't doing anything and Haitch can put Orton over.
..oh wait...

It still amazes me how badly they fucked that up.

That was one of the best feuds they had done in a long while and it was perfectly on track for Orton to win at Mania, Punt HHH in the head that night or at Backlash knocking HHH out of action for a couple months, have Orton gloat about how awesome he is and how he put HHH on the shelf, only to have HHH come back with sledge hammer in hand and give Orton what he had coming to him 1000 times over.

But instead we get the worst wrestlemania main event in history because either

a) HHH decided "Fuck this I'm not jobbing the main event at mania again"
b) "We can't end Wrestlemania with a heel ending"
or
c) Both

I see what your saying and you make a good point.

Its pretty hard to get invested in superstars nowadays though. Nostalgia bias and all that.

Watched a RAW a few weeks ago for the first time in literally years. Very different experience now. Looked online and seen this whole "PG era" thing which isnt too appealing either.

Once Vince finally gets the fuck out, and HHH is in the driver's seat (and just much too busy to appear on TV ever again), the show should begin to be vastly improved.

Wade Barrett will win the Royal Rumble, bank on it
I like your style.

It still amazes me how badly they fucked that up.

Let's not forget that this blood feud had the stipulation at WM that HHH would the title if disqualified, I figure this was one of the ways outside of the opposite approach of No DQ to play up the hatred the two were supposed to have for each other and while this idea could have worked it sort of fell apart instead having the match lack the intensity that the feud itself had just so we could have a few moments where HHH picks up a chair and has some inner turmoil.
I still remember the bit near the end where HHH is just wailing on Orton with mounted punches, the ref tries to stop him but Trips can't be held back, but of course he doesn't get disqualified anyway and he breaks out with a mighty yell to the apathy of the dead crowd, and then he just picks Orton up and pedigrees him just like that, that finish was horrible.

Is HHH still wrestling?

Occasionally. He's only wrestled about four matches in the last two years, and he'll have at least one more match. He now heads up the Talent Relations department backstage, and will take over proper when Vince leaves/retires/dies. He's doing an excellent job, hiring indie talents and getting proper trainers in for the rookies. He has the right ideas for the product, since he's a wrestling fan and wrestler first and foremost, and also not living in a bubble like Vince.

No shit? Thanks for the info. Had no idea he was actually working for the company, thought he just made his money and retired like most.

Just seen he cut his hair too. Wtf he looks weird with short hair lol
