Yeah call me crazy but I like Steve Jones. His misfires make for entertaining tv, it's like he doesn't know what he's doing and he doesn't care.

It actually made me think about how little R&B we've heard this season. They've molded Marcus into a wannabe Bobby Brown and Melanie into a wannabe Whitney. Shame.
I suppose if their solo careers don't work out, they can form the next Billy Preston & Syreeta!

LOL I love Steve once again he delivers on facial and body expressions. He's tons more entertaining than Seacrest ever was.
The US still hasn't gone through the accusations of manipulation phase yet... They still use auto tune for the tv audience too, as they haven't been through that argument either.

Season 2 is already picked up. I really hope they make some changes. Ideally I'd like one new judge (either Nicole or Paula should go, most likely Nicole), DEFINITELY a new host and maybe a few tweaks to the rules. Also, less self-importance although I don't think it's possible to extract that from the show's DNA.

I say keep Steve Jones BUT ... encourage him to be even more of an asshole and disconnected host. I'm telling you, its comedy gold.
edit. In all seriousness Jones is pretty robotic, not bad. He comes off as cold and robotic and I think thats very easy to link to the fact you can tell it seems like Hitler himself is giving him orders in his ear piece. I think his presence on stage is reflective of that voice in his ear and its clear he is more worried about following orders than putting on a smooth show. Guy isn't bad, but he isn't great.. which makes him seem bad. One thing I love about him is how tall he is. Its SOOO common for hosts of shows to be shorter so that guests appear bigger than life, and its great when he stands next to contestants and he just dwarves them :lol
He was a terrible choice for host but as the season go on and on I'm starting to tune in JUST to see Robocop host X factor haha

Yeah he really seems like a high-tech Japanese robot experiment, there is something uncanny-valley about him. Definitely missing that human spark.

The whole Rachel breakdown moment was just batshit nuts from a Jones POV. Little girl's dreams are destroyed by his words. He kicks off the only other person on stage so he can console her personally...then her mentor comes up onstage to console her personally and Jonesy can't handle what just happened. This was his moment! He was going to emotionally connect! And it was taken away from him. You can literally watch him freeze and reboot when this happens.
At the end of the day, I'd rather have a host that brings more to the table than awkwardness.

I've said it before, Seacrest is the model, that guy is a fucking pro. And Jones ain't no Seacrest, he's like the T-600 version with rubber skin before they perfected the tech.

I'm not a Rachael fan, but it was clear that she slayed Marcus in their save me songs. It's also clear that America isn't connecting with Marcus. This was a clusterfuck that will no doubt get ratings higher and could salvage Nicole's job. If more people tune in to see what kind of fuck-up she can pull every week, then FOX will keep her.
You Americans don't deserve Steve. Just cos he find it a bit hard to deal with the over reactions and meltdowns on TV. Who wouldn't while also having orders barked in his ear? Us Brits wouldn't react in such an undignified way.

I really don't want to dislike Steve. He was on Ellen recently and gave a surprisingly charming interview that involved him taking off his shirt and showing his deliciously hairy chest.
