As you know, they don't do "mentors"; it's that Cowell wanted her to be an actual judge, which didn't work out for various reasons.

I find Nicole amusing as judge, so no reason to change that for me.

She was supposed to be a guest mentor the same way that Rihanna and some others were in the judges' homes round. But there was a whole thing where her appearance was pulled at the last minute.
