And here comes the debut album full of boring ballads followed by a sophomore slump...
Exactly.

The only winner tonight was Steve. Screw the haters I love this guy. Seeing him trying to follow what the directors want amongst all the mayhem was the most interesting part of the show. I don't blame Steve one bit its the producers fault.

It was a so-so finale for a ho-hum season, but Leona's performance and Melanie winning made up for a lousy night. I could have been more upset about the results had Josh been a 9. Oh well.

No, but seriously, how amazing was Leona? She looked a like a 5 million prize to me. The voice, look, and body language just scream Class.

LOL Paula looks like she just stepped out of a Shanghai whorehouse.
Same fucking thought

I'm gonna miss this :(

See ya later, fellas.

What an awkward finale!

Melanie deserved to win
Rachel Crow was better than Steve at hosting
Leona Lewis killed everyone
$.50 lol
Simon Cowell "won" the first season, as was probably expected from day 1

Was anyone else expecting Mariah to pop out of one of the giant gift boxes so she could perform the inappropriate live version of that video with Bieb?

God, that video is so, so very inappropriate. But hey, Mariah's legs should never be kept hidden, they're a national treasure after all.

Have we heard anything about a winner's single or a tour by the way? Those two things (especially the usual X-F Christmas #1) are kind of a ritual in the UK version.

Glad to know I'm not the only shallow one here :-3

I'm pretty sure I was rooting for Kris Allen all those years ago for a very erm...particular reason...

I have no shame.

He could have at least cleaned up a bit or practiced facial expressions that don't make him look demented to improve his image, but didn't. It's okay to "stay true" to oneself, but can you at least look presentable? you're competing for people's votes, and some of them are horny.

I was rooting for this hoe for entirely superficial reasons.

Clutching my pearls hard when he sang Heartless.

She was in Aspen at the time, so knowing this, no.

And thank heavens she was in Aspen and away from that trainwreck.

I will miss Steve Jone's face, but other than that, bye bitch.

And Nicole? We've said enough about her in this thread.

Rumors of Messiah gracing next season with her presence have been intensifying as well. X Factor might finally turn into the wig snatching ratings force it was supposed to be.

<3 him and his sparkles

This would be wonderful.

Good, now roll out the red carpet for Mariah, make nice with Cheryl Cole, and poach Cat Deeley from the toxic flaming wreckage that is "So You Think You Can Dance"

In an instant, you now have a show again.

Too bad about Steve, he just got stuck dealing with Paula and Nicole's dumb asses.

When Paula was coherent, she was the only judge I actually liked. It seemed like she was the only one who had two working ears.

But, yeah, Steve was just out of his league with the live format. The greatest opera singers and teachers of the 21st Century could have been giving critics, and he still wouldn't know what to do with himself. Seemed like a sweet
I'm sorry, I meant hot
guy though.

Boom! Right on the money.

Damn, I liked Paula. Even though she was half lucid, she always held her own against Simon and LA.

I hope this means Kelly Rowland will take her place (she's also been rumored as a judge). I could accept that.

Melanie's Pepsi commercial with Elton John will air during the Super Bowl.

PR Newswire said:
PURCHASE, N.Y., Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PepsiCo today released details about its iconic Pepsi ad to air during Super Bowl XLVI, which will be broadcast on NBC. Pepsi also announced digital partnerships that will enhance fans' Super Bowl experience on-line.

The new ad titled "King's Court" features Melanie Amaro, THE X FACTOR 2011 winner, singing for multi Grammy-winning music legend Sir Elton John who plays a "king of rock" in the commercial. The ad was produced by TBWA/Chiat Day and directed by Noam Murro. During the commercial, Amaro performs a song she recorded exclusively for the ad, a contemporized version of RESPECT, by Otis Redding, and made popular by the "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin. Pepsi fans who "Shazam" the spot during the big game will be able to view Amaro's music video for RESPECT.

X Factor is imploding faster than I thought it would. They need a big season 2 or Simon might have to pack it up.

Watch her on X Factor UK via youtube and you'll find out why they don't want her back there. Time to apologize to Cheryl and get her back on either UK or USA.

It's the same song that will be featured in the Pepsi commercial.

They really need to make Melanie happen or else Season 2 will already be starting off on the wrong foot.

Apparently Simon wants Mariah AND Beyonce for next season, so they could probably save the show if Melanie flops.
He's just creating buzz by throwing names out there. I remember Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj being tossed about as possibilities in the lead-up to S1, and those were obviously not going to happen.

It seems these types of shenanigans only work in the UK, where XF's ridiculous drama actually seeps into the popular culture outside the strict context of the show.

I was thinking Perra could do a good job. I recall her being catty and truthful during her guest stint in AI. She will probably be on break from her career during the show's run too.

You guys are probably get Dermot (current UK host) for Season 2... who should be less robotic than Steve Jones.

Also, going by UK X-factor logic, Kelly Clarkson (or another famous previous contestant) will be a judge.

I fell in love with Katy Perry the moment she bluntly ordered a contestant to skip the sob story and get on with the singing. She strikes me as genuine and down to earth, which is basically the total opposite of Nicole.

Shitzinger's voice drips with such utter condescension that I wish the show had offered a customizable mute function for the judges this past season :-\

I've watched the UK X Factor via Youtube for the past couple of years and I was amazed when they replaced Cheryl with Nicole. I'd seen Nicole on the UK show and she was just as wooden and awful there as she was on the US show. The UK show in the past wasn't nearly as ugly and offensively bad as the US version was though, and I think that was due in large part to Cheryl and Danni. Dermot's a much better host than Steve, which also helps, but the media ripped Steve for forcing the show along. That won't be any different with Dermot. It's how the show is run in the UK.

With all that said, I can't wait for The Voice to start. Such a more fun show.

1. If the rumors are true about Simon offering Beyonce $100 million/yr to be on X-Factor, then he is out of his fucking mind. People aren't going to tune into a reality singing competition show for the fucking judges (if that is his goal). His ego has consumed the rational part of his brain.

2. Melanie's single: it's OK. She sounds great on it. Kinda surprised me that they went the club/techno route with her first release. Maybe a surprise single is a good thing.

3. The commercial: again, it's OK; very clean and very appropriate for a Pepsi commercial.
