X360 Gun screens

I don't remember exactly what he told, but it was something like the graphics would get upgraded at the end of the development cycle or something. I'll ask Kobold who was there with me if he remembers.
@ Ubi insider: Ancel was quite adamant that the graphics would be a big leap up from what's been shown on Xbox versions at various trade shows (ported from PS2). All the released shots so far are obviously (and released as) PS2/Xbox renders, that's EXACTLY how the game looked on screen only in lower res. These are renders of those current gen platform versions for print etc.

So either you are suggesting these PS2/Xbox shots are exactly how the Xbox 360 version will look, which is....kind of silly, or you are suggesting the version you saw of the Xbox 360 doesn't look much better in your eyes. Then comes the question on how much you saw in which part of development on this platform, and how it would look to us. :)

I played the 360 rev of King Kong at Gphoria, it looked not unlike the Xbox version. That being said, the Xbox version is pretty damn impressive so.. make of that what you will.

Pretty much how it looked to me but if you say they would improve the graphics at the end cycle of the developement, then that would make sense. Like I said, I'll ask on tuesday :)

Blimblim: It's crap, let's say I live in Montreal, let's say UBI is in Montreal, let's leave it at that ;)

Blim is right, that's not from the X360 version of King Kong.

No one has truly tapped the western/cowboy genre. I think it's a great genre that videogames could easily tap into. Look at what western's did for cinema in the 20th century.

As bad as it looks, go activision go. more westerns, more indians as enemies, less nazi's!

doctor quinn medicine woman: the game!

Activision is really taking the easy route here just doing a quick and dirty port to the 360 and charging $60 bucks because it takes a lot longer to develop these next gen games. This is the kind of shit that is annoying. I can understand activision wanting to have games at launch or close to launch and the fact that the system is launching early might affect some of theit decisions but to put something out there like this and call it next gen is just bad. The gameplay may very well be good but there is nothing next gen about this title at this point in time.

I am wondering will Call of Duty 2 be $60 bucks for the pc or is that only for the 360 version because if it's $50 for the pc that would be fucked up.

Is XBOX360 becoming the system that allows lesser developers the ability to acheive graphical results reached on the PS2 and XBOX by competent coders? Yes.

Less Activision-ish, EA-ish and other generally bad ports. More cool ass games with great graphics on each platform and awesome gameplay (Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory anyone?) Hurray for less games in general at higher quality. Hurray for less profits for large companies, hurray for more chances for smaller development teams who aren't yet corrupted by the corporate world.

Anyways, theres a nay and yay for standardization if you ever had one.

Pro's on standardized engines which are easily and efficiently multiplatform based/optimalized:

- Great looking games on each platform.
- Lots of people working on them to improve them

Con's:

- Might take advantage and slow stuff down, or leave features out, to rake in more money with next incarnation. Bad for everyone but them.

Everything stops at greed, really. I feel the industry will backlash on this in the coming years. Might be totally ripped apart, where theres is market segments for hardcore and mainstream that really have not much to do with each other. Time will tell.

Red Dead is awesome, I really want a sequel to that game. Gun looks to be pretty cool too it's just the 360 version of it may as well not even be published being that it is not that much different from the xbox version and the 360 has backwards comp.

If Microsoft is smart, they wont even allow such a port to disgrace the platform. Imagine the negative impact it could have on the image of a 'next-gen' machine, to allow people to port over their Xbox and PS2 games without any changes whatsoever. I swear it takes more effort to keep it this ugly (I mean it looks worse then a random Xbox exclusive from last year) then to make it prettier, almost.

People looking at the machine running Gun saying: Wait a minute....that's how it looks on my Xbox at home, why they hell would I buy that piece of crap 360 if it doesn't show nicer graphics at all?

Obviously some people won't be aware of the awesome looking 'real' next-gen titles because they wont get as much marketing support as Activision will be able to put behind Tony Hawk Piece of Human Waste and Gun.

Definatly one of my Q's to be asked Microsoft at a next interview possibility.

I was thinking the same thing. I would be pissed if I were Microsoft and had one of these crappy looking games out there representing next gen. I would not allow it past certification. I am sure Sony would do the same If this was a title for the PS3. Fucking lazy ass developers.

Just delay the 360 version and do it the right way.

Not even going to get into the Tony Hawk game they are putting out there.

I don't think many people are looking at Gun as that show piece that will really show what the 360 can do. Hopefully people will vote with their wallets by buying the titles that look next gen. Let's not forget that the playstation 2 launched with fantavision. Every launch has their disappointing titles.

While what you say is true, wasn't there a thread here saying this would be the most advertised game ever? I mean, it's arguably the worst looking game coming from Activision on 360 launch day. CoD2 shits on it. I know Quake 4 will, THPS should look better. What the fuck Activision. EA is running laps around these fuckers next gen.

*pinches self* I had to make sure I wasn't under the influence of hallucinogens after that last sentence.

Yeah KLee I remember seeing that at E3 time and I was pretty excited. I had the chance to talk to one of the guys from R* in NY when San Andreas was released for the PS2 and he had dropped hints that there would be something along the lines of a seque although he was reluctant to go into details about it.

Agreed. Especially because the game will probably look/run better on the Xbox1 than the PS2- and most likely anyone who will own a 360 when Gun comes out will also own an Xbox1. So if MS denied approval to the 360 version of Gun, it probably wouldn't cost them much sales/license fees, as potential buyers would just buy the Xbox1 version.

And as a potential 360 buyer, I'd be more concerned about shoddy ports on the 360 damaging the system's credibility and possibly shortening its lifespan than I would about being able to play current-gen games with a slight boost in resolution.

Since when did all these Western Shooters start becoming popular again? Red Dead Revolver, Darkwatch, now this game? When is the Sunset Riders remake going to be made? :)
