By the way, I found out you can't have the ODST MP disc installed and the dd copy of Halo 3 (I had to delete my ODST MP disc to download H3). Meaning if, like me, you downloaded it mostly for campaign and had all the map packs on the ODST disc, you may have to rebuy the DLC for the Halo 3 download copy.

I haven't confirmed it, but this is the way it probably works since the ODST MP disc was listed as "Halo 3"

Have you tried installing the multiplayer after downloading the Halo 3 DD copy? I tested this with Mass Effect, and it showed as two different games in the my games section. One was labeled as "installed xbox 360 game" and the other as "xbox 360 game."

Hmmm. I let my Live sub lapse, so the "Games with Gold" download prompt on the dashboard turned into an advert to renew to access Games with Gold. That's expected, of course - but then I did renew (with an external card, if that matters), and I'm still getting the advert and not the actual download prompt.

What gives?

Hmm, so it's ongoing on the 360 but no mention yet of a similar program on X1. I guess it's too early considering they actually give away games instead of doing what Sony are doing, but some info on whether it will extend to X1 at some point would be nice.

Smart move, MS. Won't be long before it finds its way to X1 if the sales disparity stays as large as the pre-launch preorder numbers clearly seem to be. PDZ, as mediocre as it is, might indicate that PD is being followed up on for X1 if the connections to upcoming games or developers from the games chosen to be given away is any hint.

Anyways, glad to see that they're keeping this going with Games with Gold, it wasn't a strong showing at all, and I already owned the best titles aside from Dead Rising 2 & Case Zero even though I own the more popular Dead Rising 1. I can transition to Dead Rising 3 for free now whenever I want to now though.

I honestly can't think of a title I'd want for Games with Gold, I bought all the games I wanted to buy 100% for certain. Maybe it would be great if PGR4 got on there so the rest of XBL could see why it's hands-down my favorite racer of the generation. Bizarre Creations isn't around anymore in the sense of people just buying it to give them the revenue they deserve for that amazing title so they might as well give away greatness instead.

That's what first party means. I used to think it (along with gears, alan wake, etc) was "2nd party" but Phil Spencer confirmed that 2nd party meant just distribution (Dance central, Ninja Gaiden), while first party means funding/publishing. It was on an episode of Major Nelson's podcast.
