Xbox 360 Developer List

Nicked from B3D Apparently the article states that more DEVELOPERS will be revealed at E3

http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21836

According to this article at a Taiwanese gaming news (machine translation), though I'm not entirely sure about the text of this article, it seems Microsoft in Taiwan announced Xbox 2 supporters (a bit?) earlier than others The list is
Quote:

3rd parties:

spring international limited liability company
third wave information limited liability company
2KGames
Activision Inc.
Atari Inc. (English valuable standard)
Bandai Co. Ltd.
Bethesda Softworks LLC
Capcom Co. Ltd.
Codemasters Software Company Ltd.
Eidos Inc.
Electronic Arts Inc. (Beautiful business skill electricity)
FromSoftware Inc.
KOEI Co. Ltd.
Konami
LucasArts
Majesco Entertainment
Midway Games Inc.
Namco Hometek Inc.
Phantagram Co. Ltd.
Rockstar Games
Sega of America Inc.
Tecmo Inc.
THQ Inc.
Ubisoft Entertainment
Vivendi Universal Games Inc.
Webzen Inc. (Net imperial sacrifices)

1st/2nd parties:

BioWare Corp.
Bizarre Creations Ltd.
Bungie Studios
Epic Games Inc.
FASA Studio
Game Republic Inc.
Lionhead Studios Ltd.
Mistwalker
Q Entertainment Inc.
Rare Ltd.
Real Time Worlds

... and some more are expected apparently.

Since it was Microsoft Taiwan that leaked the news of Sakaguchi of MistWalker before, this new info has some credibility, I presume.

I've read that list at least three times, and each time I fail to find a developer that makes me go "Huh? What? No way!"

The gist seems to be companies who make Xbox games are making games for the 360. To which my response would be, "duh."

i expect that list to be 3-4 times longer by E3.

but just like every other system in history, just cause a developer says they're down, doesn't mean they'll end up making games for the system.

i remember how much people were hyping up Treasure making xbox games when MS first revealed their xbox 3rd party list.

Buddy I assume if there was going to a massive announcement like Square Enix that would be left to E3. However I really don't think we will see any surprises at E3.

No Square no party :D :lol Sony's stake in the company must be doing its job.
Besides lists like this don't mean much,we have to see for what games those developers are listed.

Interesting to note that Sega of Japan/Sammy or whatever they're called now is not on this developers list. SOA? Ehhh.

Edit: Real Time Worlds? What games have they done? And it's good to see Bioware on the list. KOTOR3! :D

Don't count Microsoft out of the SquareEnix game just yet, Elios.

No infact, but imo they won't get significant support,it will be like Nintendo this gen.Maybe Square executives will be interested in reaching the Live online community,we know that they're focused on the online gaming,so they will develop also a Xenon version of some online games they're making.

Square Enix is the key to the japanese market.

You will never dominate the japanese market without SE.

So Microsoft has to come up with a way of creating a niche slice of the pie. They can't expect to take anything more without SE.

Oh, one small note. Looks like Atlus isn't on that list.

Didn't they make one Nocturne game this generation? Guess 100% drop on support.

You guys can't tell me that's not a strong showing.

Personally I think it's a damn good lineup of publishers.

Now Microsoft just needs exclusives.

On the third party side this seems to be a list of publishers, not a full list of developers. If they listed all developers who were working on Xenon under these publishers, it'd be longer.

Its just "the usual suspects".

You'd say that was a pun or joke of sorts, but it really says that in the taiwanese article, LOL

"The Usual Suspects" is better than nothing.

The only publishers I'm worried about:
-Bandai Co. Ltd.
-Capcom Co. Ltd.
-Electronic Arts Inc.
-FromSoftware Inc.
-KOEI Co. Ltd.
-Konami

Good luck getting a high-profile exclusive out of this bunch.

Ubisoft, Lucasarts, and Temco will probably be providing the high profile exclusives.

I'll bet on Lucasarts giving Microsoft a high-profile Star Wars title for launch.

Funny no one noticed Real Time Worlds, the studio headed by Dave Jones (legendary designer during the Amiga days when he was head of DMA design) in the 1st/2nd party roster.

Yeah, he in fact started up DMA Design, or helped to, IIRC. I think they're planning to work on big online games.

A quote from an article about them:

Ian Hetherington will be joining Jones too, and as founder of Psygnosis went on to become managing director of SCEE. Finally there's Tony Harman, who brings years of experience as director of development and acquisitions at Nintendo of America to Real Time Worlds, and has been an executive producer on Donkey Kong Country.

This impressive trio have hand-picked a team of 28 developers who'll be bringing Real Time Worlds' ambitions into fruition. "We are not yet talking specifically about our two titles under development," commented Hetherington, "but I will hint that fans of GTA and next-generation racing games will not be disappointed. Having seen literally thousands of games in the past, I was amazed at the unique and ground breaking ideas that are being brought to life at Real Time Worlds."

Hopefully their Xenon game will be the one that appeals to "GTA fans". A GTA-style MMOG?

Most of Microsoft's 1st/2nd party roster gets a "meh" from people with the exceptions of Epic Games, Bungie Studios, Bioware Corp, and Lionhead Studios.

Hopefully Mistwalker and Rareware can join that bandwagon.

I've been waiting for FASA to prove me wrong, I wanted to enjoy Mech Assault 2. Crimson Skies was great though.

'Support' is such a nothing term these days, we've seen time and time again that 'support' can be taken away just as easily as it is given. At best this just gives us a list of people to phone when we want to bribe people for 360 info, and at worst it's just a list of people who have a 360 dev kit.

I'll wait and see what games they have in store before getting excited.

Edit:

I've been waiting for FASA to prove me wrong

I strongly believe we'll see some great high profile exclusives out of Ubisoft, Temco, and Lucasarts before E3 is done.

Microsoft Game Studios will no doubt provide very high profile content.

With regards to the rest, probably just filler to be honest.

They are already working on APB (All Points Bulletin) for Webzen. (which is a GTA style MMOG...) :)

Guess from these shots it's hard to tell if it'll be impressive since the game is coming out in 2007 and I'm guessing they had only one 'thug' model yet, hahaha

Ah, I didn't hear that, thanks. Is there any more info on it?

But I guess this means they're making their other game for MS (since they're down under the first/second party, presumably they've a deal with them too)? The racing game perhaps? Surely MS has enough of those already?

edit - cheers for the screens, i remember hearing about this now, hehe

I really don't care much about developer list anymore. It has come to the point where developer list will carry the same weight as the list for special effects and how many polygons it can do for the machine. Absolutely Worthless.

I'll wait for the products not the dev/pub names.

Just digusting, if anything; GTA-Clones/Derivatives galore. Funny how some of you still get slackjawed over Lionhead, nothing but failed promises and more empty ones to come.

I agree, dev/pub lists are kind of pointless when you have no idea what they're actually going to develop anyway. They could make an awesome exclusive game, or just publish an old piece of shit game. These lists are, with few exceptions, just shallow hype material.

Last I heard the game designed by Dave Jones was developed directly by a MGS Team at Redmond. Maybe Real Time Worlds is also working on another game in-house too, I don't know.
It looks like MS will do this "guest designer" or "guest team" thing more or more often (in Japan, but also in Redmond). There is a guest designer on Shadowrun too.

Your gettng the info now anyways! :p From 15 feb press release:

GRAND THEFT AUTO CREATOR, DAVID JONES, AWARDS
WORLDWIDE PUBLISHING RIGHTS FOR HIS
FIRST ONLINE GAME, ‘APB’ TO WEBZEN, INC.

First Images of ‘All Points Bulletin’ (APB) Unveiled

Seoul, Korea, (February 15, 2005) – At a joint press conference in Seoul, Korea, it was announced today that global online entertainment company, Webzen, Inc. (Nasdaq: Wzen) was awarded the worldwide online game publishing rights to All Points Bulletin (APB), the first online game developed by David Jones, the creator of the multi-million unit selling video game, Grand Theft Auto, and his UK-based game development company, Real Time Worlds (RTW).

APB is scheduled to release in early 2007 and will be showcased at the video game industry’s largest trade show, the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo, in Los Angeles this May. During today’s press conference, Jones unveiled the first screen and character images from the game.

“As an avid gamer and creator of many single player games, it has been my dream to create an online game experience that provides the player with the ultimate freedom to do whatever he wants, in a thriving, living environment,” said David Jones, founder and creative director of Real Time Worlds. “When looking for a publishing partner for APB, it was imperative to find a company that was a worldwide leader in online games and we found that in Webzen, Inc.”

“APB is an online game that we think will fuel the worldwide growth of online gaming,” said Nam Joo Kim, CEO of Webzen, Inc. “As Webzen, Inc. continues to expand into new markets around the world, it was important to find a property that translated to a broad audience. We are very excited about the APB’s potential.”

APB is a massively multiplayer online game based in living, breathing cities that will feel familiar to players, as they precisely replicate famous cities all over the world. APB is a turf war involving two main factions, the Squads, whose goal is to uphold the law, and the Gangs, who seek to break the law at all costs. Players will be able to choose their side, in a classic good guy versus bad guy scenario. The Gangs are all about graffiti, attitude, custom cars and earning cash any way they can. The Squads stand for honor, teamwork, firepower and destroying the Gangs. APB will provide the player with the ultimate customization options from their weapons, vehicles and clothes to their attitude, music and environment.

With APB, Real Time Worlds and Webzen, Inc. are looking to set a new standard in online entertainment. Thousands of players will form gangs or squads all around the world, and will play in hundreds of online cities. APB is scheduled to release in early 2007.

In January of this year, Webzen, Inc. announced its expansion into the U.S. market and the opening of Los Angeles office. In addition to APB, Webzen, Inc. plans to bring multiple online game titles to the U.S. market. The titles include the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), SUN, releasing in the third quarter of 2005, and a massively multiplayer online first person shooter (MMOFPS) called Huxley, that leverages the latest Unreal 3 game engine and is scheduled to release in 2006. Webzen, Inc. is also developing game properties for the next generation game consoles to enhance its appeal to the mainstream gaming audience.

Webzen, Inc. has developed some of the world’s top online game and client/server technologies. The company also prides itself in the creativity department, publishing some of the most highly acclaimed titles for the Asian market. For its tremendously successful 3D MMORPG title, MU. Webzen, Inc. has attracted over 56 million users and a half million concurrent users from the Asian market alone.

That's a different game, though. APB is in-house for Webzen! :)

The Microsoft project, I have no clue what that is, in the quote from gofreak he refers to racing? (Wether he means like in GTA, taking a car and going, or real racing...)

Webzen's game is using RenderWare, Microsoft's most likely Unreal 3... (?)

You guys know what I thought was interesting? I was looking through some old notes and Vanguard, that MMORPG from the guy who did Everquest, that's running on the Unreal engine. In hindsight, it makes a lot of sense, but it just goes to show how long some people have been playing with the Unreal enging on the Xenon kits.

Yeah, but i'd hardly say it was Unreal 3 (worthy). It doesn't look that good at all, sadly..(artwise I guess, opinion I know)

Blimblim said:
Yeah, I'd say this game would be the ideal candidate for the Unreal 3 engine.
But if that's similar genre, then it's getting confusing. Seems unlikely MS would let him divide his time between two similar projects...

Unlress one was single-player and one Massive Multi (APB) I guess... *speculates

Still it's confusing and ought to be cleared up!

I don't know much more than that unfortunately :(

They design the games, character design, music, story, but the actual development is done at MGS Japan. One would argue it's 1st party, but not quite.

It's also one their XNA games.

1st/2nd parties:
BioWare
Dragon Age? Star Citadel? Hopefully they have more Dragon Age to show off at E3, maybe on a Xeneon?

One side of me hopes MS die next gen.

But another side of me hopes they succeed in becoming #1. Don't know why :lol

Because like Nintendo, Microsoft is an evil corporation that occasionally brings you gaming greatness.
